Hotel Die Port van Cleve

Great location

We had a great time and was comfortable at the hotel. However, it was a bit more expensive that some of the other hotels iv used in the city, we decided to spend more money this time to get a bigger room but the room was just as small and compact as the cheaper locations. The pictures look bigger than they are, when you have two suitcases it’s hard to move around the room.

Great location with great staff who were very helpful. room was very clean and the facilities were to a good standard.

Ongoing works inside and outside the property with dated decor make you feel like you are staying at a construction site, this will go over time I am sure. One morning I had to get permission from the workers who were outside the hotel door to cross the work zone as they had cut off all access to pavements while they were doing work which was a bit inconvenient.

We love staying in historic places. The minibar is located close to the floor, so it was hard to reach. There is a tub / shower with ample hot water. As I am short and getting arthritis, I find that the tub was too high for getting in and out easily. Our room also had 3 steps down from the hall/bathroom/closet level to the bedroom level—it might be a problem for some one who is unsure of their balance in the dark. It is in a great location, walking distance to train station and lovely walks to the nearby canals/cafes. Staff speaks good English. There is an elevator.Breakfast was a bit pricy, so we have no opinion about that. There are two lounges where one can read or study in peace. the room was big and the bed was very comfortable.

The only problem which we didn’t find out until the hotel messaged us a few days before was that there is extensive tram construction in front the hotel, which will be continuing until 2024. We had expected the tram to stop in front of the hotel, but this line was not working. It’s a bit dusty walking on paths that go across the road and up and down the street. You can catch trams 2 1/2 blocks from the hotel at the Dam Square stop. The double glazed windows kept out all of the street noise, so it was very quiet. You cannot open the windows as they are sealed shut, but ac works fine. Considering the inconvenience, the hotel felt a little pricier than we would have liked.

The room and our outside terrace were located right above the main road of Dam square, so although unparalleled breath taking view, public transportation and sirens of police units were heard in all hours.

Location is excellent, although there was a lot of road construction in front when we visited.

We are a family of four staying in two rooms. Room 412 is spacious with a couch but has no view to speak of; it looks into other rooms so the drape had to be closed all day. Room 422 has two levels. The lower level has a high window. You have to climb on a chair to see outside. The upper level has a low ceiling with a sharp corner that sticks out next to the closet door. Both of us bumped our heads on it. Ouch!

Location is superb, you can walk everywhere in Amsterdam from their location.

The room is very small. I was supposed to share a double room, and we had to book two rooms instead. The location was great but the whole street was under construction, so we had to drag the bags in the sand to get to the hotel. They do have a side door which would have been convenient during disruption of the front door, but that wasn't made available.

Loved the location, was able to walk from Central station and was able to walk to all sorts of attractions, food, and shopping.

The elevator was a little sketchy, but worked! The hairdryer was horrible, I wouldn't even call it a hair dryer..

Location is brilliant - close to everything and only a 10min walk from the central train station.

Would have been nice to have had the bottled water replaced daily.

the room was very big, it had a whole living room and the beds were very comfortable . we selpt two friends and the bed was dvided so it was perfect for us, the aircon in the room was great cause we had some warm days.

on our first day we went inside the room and there was alot of garbage in the corner of the room,like the cleaner didnt have the enregy to clean the room so he just put all the garbage in one corner next to the bed hoping we won't see it. after we called the reception they apologized and offered us a different room, but it was on the other side of the hotel and wasnt renovated like the room we stayed in.

Where to start :- Location : Couldn't have been better, brilliant. Staff : Friendly, very helpful. Reception : Friendly, helpful, informative. Housekeeping : Brilliantly kind. Lifts : Both in good order. Room : Clean, Comfortable bed, welcoming decor, soundproofed, good air conditioning, great shower, plenty of hot water, plenty of wardrobe space and hangers, nice mirror in room and bathroom. Restaurant : Lovely breakfast food/coffee, Staff very attentive. Hotel bar : Good beers, great bar staff. Cafe : Good selection, good staff. Ambience : altogether a grand building with Lovely architecture, wood panelling, welcoming.

Nothing not to like, would stay again in a instant.
