Hotel De Gerstekorrel

Perfect location. Close proximity to Amsterdam Central (10 min walking distance) and in the middle of the old city. There is a bakery and a bike rental shop right next door. Decent size room for three people to occupy. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Although the hotel is situated on a busy tourist street, if you keep your windows closed you won’t be able to hear the noise from outside.

Please read the description for the amenities that the hotel offers. You might be disappointed to find out that there is no refrigerator in your room. However, you are more than welcome to store your drinks at the front desk refrigerator (after you ask). Also, keep in mind that there is no A/C in the rooms as well (because if city regulations) but there is a fan.

The location was great, very narrowed but cozy. We stayed in quadruple room with single beds on first floor. We got coffee, tea and kettle and a small hair dryer. Don't pay extra for the breakfast (sandwich ingredients), it's not worthy, we got it because it was included in the price. The hotel has a luggage room and small discount cards for some city spots, like museums, some restaurants, canal boat ride.

The bathroom is rather limited. The matress was very soft, the phonic isolation is very poor, for light sleepers might be a problem. Be prepared during the weekend it's a lot of noise from outside.

Loved the view, staff were incredibly helpful. Really good feature being able to store luggage behind locked door after checkout. Room was very comfortable, air con was lovely and beds were super comfortable.

Our room was located in the other base without the reception - this took us by surprise especially as we came late and the hotel light was flickering so looked a bit dodgey..! Once inside it was fab, I think just letting the customers know they’d be at a slightly different location and what floor they’d be on before arrival - it was a lot of steep steps!! It wasn’t an issue at all with my brother and I but if I had been travelling as a woman on my own this would have scared me a little.

Friendly staff quick check in, really good central location. comfy bed clean room. Had some English tv channels. yes the stairs are quite steep but no where near as bad as what some people are making out we had three fights to go up and the last one was a bit tricky as it turns a corner but we managed fine

there’s no mirror near the desk area so can’t do your hair or make up apart from in the bathroom which is not great after you’ve showered and everywhere is wet and steamed up! pillows not great. view from window was an internal area which wasn’t brilliant but no problem however this area was full of cigarette butts and rubbish even a sock! which wasn’t great especially as they go strong with the no smoking in the rooms which people quite obviously do.

The location was phenomenal, practically everything was within an 30 minutes walking distance. The room itself was nice too: comfortable bed, nice shower and plenty of room for two of us to store our things.

We didn't mind that much but it's worth noting that the stairs are quite steep and there is no lift. We just had carry on luggage but if we had large suitcases I imagine it would be a struggle going up and down. Also as others have said even with the window closed on the top floor it could get a bit noisy, mostly during the evening, so maybe bring earplugs if that's an issue.

This was my second stay at this hotel, after such a nice stay last year I decided to come back again. The location is perfect for quick and easy access to all the main attractions around the city. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The stairs are fairly steep and there is no lift which is often the case with hotels in the city centre so keep this in mind if have any mobility issues but for most people I don't think it would be a problem. I would stay here each time I visit and I recommend it to everyone looking for a hotel on a budget.

The central location was great for us . Very busy street but everything was within walking distance which considering there was 9 of us for a 50th birthday was ideal . The hotel was clean and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable . Staff couldn’t have been more helpful too .

Nothing really . We had a room at the back of the hotel so were not bothered by any noise from the street but our other guests did say that they had trouble getting to sleep at times and woken up very early by deliveries but it didn’t hinder anyones stay there .

Have stayed in many places in Amsterdam and I have to say I was hesitant on writing this because this is an absolute jem and I want to keep it a secret everything is just outside your door from all the good eating places to attractions that are just a stone's throw away and boating excursion at the top of the street balcony was priceless bit busy late at night but hay it's Amsterdam would highly recommend this hotel to anyone just keep it quiet so it stays a hidden jem...😁

Stairs are steap and no lift

Location was perfect! Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. Lady on reception was lovely and very helpful. It is a little loud outside at night time but that is to be expected when staying in the city centre, it didn't interrupt our sleep too much and wouldn't put me off staying again! We really liked our room, loved the big windows and the little seating area to watch the world go by. Most buildings in the centre are old and have very steep staircases and no lift so we didn't expect this. We didn't find it much of a problem although we were only on the 1st floor. Our room was clean and comfortable, we had a lovely stay!

The location was perfect for a first time visit to Amsterdam. It is right next to the Red Light District. 7 min walk to the central train station making this very convenient. Its a central location to everything. Tons of shopping and food around. The rooms are decent. Nothing fancy, just basic. With high Amsterdam prices, this worked very well for our group. If staying in a triple, request the larger room. The extra space is worth it.

No elevators in the building so expect to climb stairs with your luggage.
