Hotel Amsterdam De Roode Leeuw

Loved the location was so central to everything. Our third time to Amsterdam but first time in this hotel and we will be back 😄 staff so friendly and helpful. Room very clean, lift too which is handy with all the stairs 😅

The only thing we didn't like was the placement of the toilet roll holder at the side of the wall where toilet is. It's a tight squeeze as it is without having that right in the way.

the location is PERFECT on Dam Square. the 3-person room is huge and great, but the 2-person room is a bit tight. breakfast wasn't included in the the deal. we went to the hotel's restaurant buffet one day and enjoyed a lovely meal. staff was great and helped with needed blankets and pillows.

the couple room is a bit tight, but manageable. the breakfast buffet can be a bit better. some shampoo and conditioner can be provided, and not just soap.

The room was wonderful - on a corner looing out over Dam Square, yet perfectly quiet at night - great double glazing! The staff were absolutely charming

The breakfast was terrible and the service in the restaurant pretty bad.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel! The location is very central, the room is bigger than most in Amsterdam. Very clean room with comfortable bed. Check in and check out was quick and easy (we came at 1am)

There was noise coming from the A/C (like small drops of water), sometimes it was for hours, sometimes less. We didn't have time to have the staff look too deep into it, we mentioned it once and they said that it was because we kept it on for too long (we actually turned it off the minute we checked in and didn't turn it on again) You hear noise from the street (we were on the first floor facing the back street) Hot water isn't very consistent in the shower (it goes warmer/colder)

Perfect location just a few mins walk from the station. Bed were amazing comfortable, rooms were clean, spacious and modern. Lovely shower. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

There is no view from the majority of rooms. We were told when we asked for a room with a view that there were in fact only 4 rooms that offer a view and they were all booked up. The rest look out over fire escapes or brick alleys. Didn't overly bother us as we were out the majority of the time but just wasn't what we expected.

The location was fantastic, with 1 of 2 main tram routes at the door, easy (flat) walking distance to everywhere we wanted to see. The front desk and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. Room was very good with good space and a (laptop) work bench (UK, Euro, US power outlets built-in), coffee machine, bar fridge, etc. Aircon was very good. Quiet room. Enjoyable place to stay.

Mini bar was an extra cost to stock up, but local supermarkets were cheaper anyway.

You couldn't ask for a better location. Close to everything! Our room was very large and quiet. The beds were very comfy and big. The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful and they even let us check in early. That was very nice given our early arrival from the US. Nice having a restaurant attached. A short walk, less than 10 minutes, to the Central Train Station. Really, a short walk from everything you would want to see when visiting Amsterdam!

The shower was a bit odd and a little difficult stepping into such a high bathtub? Hard not getting the floor wet. The restaurant furnishings looked tired, as did the hotel reception area. The elevator was super slow. And probably the biggest thing that was kind of disappointing was that our room looked on to an ugly rooftop central area with heating/cooling units. Not at all like the photo used on all their websites. It was best to keep the curtains closed which made the room feel a bit cave-like.

Found it to be expensive for a small hotel room but amsterdam is expensive for accommodation. Your paying for the location. No view only of a wall

This location is great for solo travelers, conveniently 8 minutes walking distance to Centraal Station and 10 minutes to the Red Light District. The hotel is next to Starbucks, McDonald's and KFC which is great when on the go. The city itself is small, so you can walk everywhere from the hotel and lots of places to eat and shop nearby. The hotels elevator are great when you have a big luggage, but they also have stairs. This hotel also has a restaurant/ buffet that is available to guests - the breakfast buffet offers coffee, some bread, mini pancakes, yogurt, eggs and cheese. The train stop is in front of the hotel, which is very convenient if you're going to explore Rembrandt, Van Gogh Museum or the Heineken as they're located further out but with the train you're there in 10 minutes. The train passes every 10 minutes and there's no hassle. The hotel room offered a mini fridge, safety lock, coffee/ tea, hair dryer, small storage cabinets, clean towels and corner share. Overall, the hotel stay is good for a short stay!

The room & bed were small and the bathroom was very narrow, only space for 1 person - so it's great for solo travelers, but not more than 2. The elevator was convenient, however, it's very narrow, enough for 2 people and it's slow. The breakfast option was great, but they could offer more variety as the food options was limited.

For once a hotel with decent fresh european breakfast that was worth the money. The location is absolutely perfect for sightseeing and its close to everything. Even has a shop, mcdonalds, kfc right next to it. Room was comfortable for a weekend city trip.

The view wasn’t much and the cleaning staff stole my airpods. Thankfully, that person was caught and fired as hotel took swift action and returned my airpods.
