The location is great. So easy to go anywhere. The central train station is a bit far (~30 min by foot). But you can go to south train station by tram. It is also much closer compared to central train station. Easy to visit other closer small town/city from Amsterdam. The staff stayed in the hotel for 24h. They were very kind. I liked that they keep the key because it was quite heavy.

This is not suggestion for improvement. As written in room description, the small room is very small. For me, it was fine. But be aware of it.

The hotel is just a block or so from the three major museums, on a lovely tree-lined street. The neighborhood is very beautiful and close to the Vondelpark. It's also a short walk to the center of the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel let me know in advance the best way to arrive from the airport. The airport bus stops just a block from the hotel and runs frequently. I recommend the hotel highly for single travelers or families, particularly those who want a quiet location near the park and museums.

Wonderful location: around the corner to Van Gogh Museum, MOCO, the Rijksmuseum, easy access to tram and 10 minute walk to Metro, great restaurants nearby, and neighborhood is quiet and feels very safe. The hotel is as advertised- in an older building with smallish rooms, although our triple was great for 3 adults, rooms are clean and ours had great light, shower had plenty of hot water; staff was terrific and handy to have the honor bar for a night cap after the night out. The breakfast was great- really tasty scrambled eggs!

No complaints- bathroom is small but as expected in older hotel.

The staff was both friendly and helpful without imposing their hospitality; they communicated promptly from the moment I first emailed them. The breakfast was very good -- fresh, healthful, with one of those lovely self-serve espresso machines. You can leave your key conveniently with the desk, and they will buzz you in at any hour on your return.

I didn't dislike much of anything, but if I had to pick something it would be the limited range of vegetables on the breakfast buffet. While the sliced cucumbers and tomatoes were fresh, those two were the only options (i.e. to mix with my eggs and cheese).

I loved the location of Aalders hotel - with Van Gogh museum just around the corner, next to the shopping street with boutiques, but yet it’s in a nice quiet street. It’s an old building and it feels like you live as a local with all the perks of the hotel stay - bed made and towels changed when needed (if you don’t need them being replaced - just leave them on the top shelf). The location seem to attract quieter crowd, with no loud party goers, that was a bonus. Hotel was clean, staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, I wanted to say thank you to Kim who did the check-in for me and also helped with refund for the drinks that was added to my bill by mistake. I stayed in a single room and even if it was described as a small one, I felt it had everything I needed and was just what I wanted - there was a small kettle, a hotel safe, a hair dryer - everything worked, good-size bathroom, also mirrors and a small, but sufficient wardrobe, plus hooks for coats, 2 plugs by bed, even usb ports for charging- so you don’t need an adapter for your phone. There were toiletries and my room had a garden view, blinds and curtains that keep the light away. Air-con wasn’t too loud and not too cold. I guess you can hear tv working in another room, but I always bring earplugs and eye mask when travelling and on the whole hotel was quiet and cosy - perfect for a solo traveller. I store my small cabin bag under the bed, but when I bought a bigger suitcase to fit all the purchases - there was enough room to store it, and could have put 2 more suitcases if you had to.

It would be nice to have decaf and milk alternatives for breakfast- I felt it wasn’t very varied for me , but it’s just my limitations, It was absolutely fine otherwise, plus a nice fireplace in the dining room. Maybe a few more hungers in the wardrobe and an English channel on tele as a suggestion. There was a smell of weed one night, but I guess you can’t help it if if you are is Amsterdam, hotel can’t control it and It’s probably was not a typical experience there. Nothing really bothered me that much to take any stars from the 10 star review - I would recommend hotel Aalders and I would definitely stay there again.

What a lovely, boutique hotel. The room I stayed in was tiny (as all European city hotels are) but so well designed and apportioned that I did not feel cramped at all. The hotel is convenient to everything -- canal district, Rijksmuseum, parks, transportation -- yet is set back away from the hustle -- peaceful and beautiful with lovely breakfast!

Paying extra for small amenities in the lobby like coffee and water is a little much -- it would have been great to feel these were part of the hospitality. Felt sort of nickel and dimed.

The location of the hotel is superb: a close walk to the GREAT museums, a longer interesting walk to the main canal area, and great transportation close by. In fact, the bus from/to the airport is about half a block away, yet the hotel is on a quiet, pretty street. And streetcar stops were close by for getting to the train station, etc. The breakfast was an adequate buffet, and in a pretty dining room. And the staff were friendly and helpful. In fact, they went out of their way with storing luggage during an absence, and contributing tips for the day's planning.

My only complaint was the temperature of my room (number 10). It was too cold, or, one night, too hot i.e difficult for temperature regulation.. On the other hand, it had a balcony one could step out on, that overlooked the back gardens, and that may have added a draft, since the days and nights were cool.

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. Receptionist gave a good tips about sights to visit. Location was good, across the street is Van Gogh museum, and in 1-2 minute walk you can get on tram which will take to city center. Wifi signal was good. Room was clean. Our room had a gorgeous balcony, where you can enjoy your time, if weather allows :))) I think it was the only room with balcony. If you travel by car there is Q-park parking in just 3-5 minute of walk.

For the hotel itself can't say that anything was bad, but in general lack of hotel parking and price, but this is general issue in Amsterdam.

Our stay at the hotel in Amsterdam was fantastic. The rooms were immaculate and provided great comfort. What truly made our experience memorable was the exceptional staff who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam. The location was perfect, just a minute's walk from a tram station and a short distance from the Museum area and Vondelpark. We found it convenient to explore the city center on foot most of the time. The warm and welcoming attitude of everyone we encountered made us feel right at home. We opted for a family room with two spacious beds, and it was both roomy and comfortable. The bathroom was recently renovated and looked brand new.

While our overall stay at the hotel in Amsterdam was pleasant, there were a few aspects that didn't fully meet our expectations. One particular issue was the hallway, which proved to be a bit challenging for maneuvering a baby stroller. We had some difficulty entering our room due to the limited space. It would have been helpful to know in advance that bringing a stroller might pose difficulties or that leaving it near the reception would be more practical than taking it to the room. However, we understand that each hotel has its own limitations and policies, and we believe that mentioning this in advance could improve the experience for families with strollers. Despite this minor inconvenience, we appreciated the efforts made by the staff to ensure our comfort during our stay.

In the opposite direction is the trolly stop to the train station. The hotel is small and family-owned, and the staff are helpful. I liked the sitting area and serve-yourself bar downstairs and my very tidy little room.

I had trouble with the front-door lock and there was a small step-up in my room that I repeatedly tripped over. The stairs up from the lobby are very steep; however, there was always someone at the desk just a few feet away to coach me out the door and spot me on the stairs.
