Hotel The Bird

Friendly, basic but comfortable central hotel. You couldn’t ask for a better location. The staff couldn’t do enough to help. We had a late check-in which was no problem. Helped with parking. Looked after our luggage on check-out until we were ready to leave the city. Thank you.

They nicked a personal towel 😁 Mixed up by accident with the laundry but lesson learned. Don’t bring a white towel to a hotel!!

The location to the city centre was perfect! Didn’t catch a single tram or taxi while we were there, everything in walking distance.

Only thing that bugged us was the sound of the front door when it was opened, our room was directly above the main entrance and the mechanism makes a strange sound.

Location was brilliant - close to everything, super close to Waterlooplein tram stop and Rokin train station. Beautiful canal view and super clean, pretty large bedroom. Bathroom was well stocked with necessities and housekeeping was completed every day to a high standard. Staff were available onsite even until late in the evening.

Shower curtain was a little bit too small for the shower so water sprayed out whenever we showered, but this wasn't a major issue - as towels were replaced daily, we were provided with a new bath mat every day. No other issues - the place was brilliant!

My daughter has different floor but that doesnt matter. No breakfast but they have coffee machine and water dispenser and you can drink at the lobby which is very good. Location is perfect for us as it is surrounded with many shopping and near to metro and flower market. The hotel is right in front of the canal and the hotel is nice too. My daughter's room face the canal but as the window is too high for us to see, it serves no purpose. I love Amsterdam transport system, and the people there. Of course not forgetting the beautiful Amsterdam.

The laundry is expensive. 1 bag for 30 euros

Staff were superb the entire time, very friendly and chatty. Location is absolutely perfect, easy walk from the station and relatively close to most attractions with stunning surroundings. Price and room both incredible! Couldn't recommend more and would love to return.

Only slight negatives- Our room was above the entrance so could hear the automatic door close/open at times, both not light sleepers so was never an issue but could see how some would find this annoying. Also suggest moving the discounts/offers leaflets to the main desk as we paid full price for an activity to then find a discount leaflet near the coffee/vending machine later on.

Staff was very helpful, room was fine, if very small.

Physical location is perfectly situated for walking the whole downtown area. Beautiful view out the front window of our room, which was in the front of the hotel. Unfortunately, next door is a coffeeshop/dispensary, with a very loud crowd that stays up till 2 and 3am, most nights, and a very busy one way street with drivers that love to use their horns in imaginative ways at 2a. Not anything the hotel can help with, I understand, but it was enough that we won't stay there again. Avoid the front rooms facing the canal, with their gorgeous views, if you like a good night's rest

Our room overlooked the canal and was on a lively street with a canal tour boat operator right outside our door. The view was gorgeous. There was air conditioning!!! We were able to rent bikes for a decent price with parking right outside. Lots of dining opportunities, including a fab. Indian place right next door and a bodega steps away for water and other drinks and snacks.

They only provided one key and if someone left on the room, the electric would go off without a key in the wall slot. The bathroom was extremely small, but private in the room. I was travelling w/ my son and requested two twins which we did not get. We slept together in a double bed. We actually slept well, head to foot - the bed was comfy, just wish we could have had our own.

Located just adjacent the Flower Market, this small local hotel worked well for an adult, teen, and big kid. Our room had a split bathroom-one room toilet and sink, second room shower and sink. This arrangement worked very well for us. Beds are small and room was petite, but so are most of Amsterdam properties. Large window onto courtyard helped. WiFi worked well for kids (and mom)! We were able to walk to many, many sites. Our House, electronic music museum is super close to the hotel and was so very fun!

AC worked, but could have been a bit more powerful.

Excellent location, welcoming staff, pretty little hotel in a busy area. Very relaxing and I felt very safe.

Room very small for price and beds very small. There was unfortunately an awful and offensive drawing someone had done on our room wall (I will not post as extremely offensive). I did mention to reception. Although not the staff or hotels fault, it still was not nice especially considering the price we paid to stay.

We initially booked this hotel due to the location (literally walking distance from the centre) and the affordable price. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and quiet and a nice place to relax after some long days of site seeing. I would highly recommend this hotel.

I honestly though everything about our stay was perfect. Clean, warm, friendly. Wouldn't change a thing.
