The Shakespeare Hotel

I had asked for early checkin as I had arrived in the morning after a 27 hour flight but they couldnt tell me details in advance because I was going to be in transit the day before. I arrived to find a letter on the door addressed to me and explaining they had sent me an email on how to access the key and also how to find internet to find the email! All the staff have been equally lovely.

It was great for the price and location but I owuld have really liked to have been able to sit at a table to use a laptop. easily in the room.

The hotel had a really cool vibe to it and the food was lovely! Staff were extremely kind and welcoming and would stop to have a chat with you and see how you were doing which was really nice to see. Location is perfect if you visiting Auckland as you are in the centre and a lot of attractions are very short walking distance. We didn’t have to get a taxi anywhere!

Very minor but done beside the bed hadn’t been vacuumed for a while but nothing to put you off staying. Will mention the shower seemed a bit dodgy and it wasn’t secured to the wall very well but I won’t pin that on the hotel more who ever installed it.

This location of this hotel is fantastic - right in the middle to Auckland CBD. The hotel itself is historic and this is reflected in the rooms. It is very quirky and different than your mainstream run-of-the-mill corporate hotel.

Bathroom was tiny.

The room was the perfect size for the price we paid. The bed was clean and comfortable with outlets on either side. The bathroom was clean, and the water pressure in the shower was spectacular. The restaurant on the first level sells amazing food for extremely affordable prices (15 dollars for a meal at lunchtime). The location is excellent if you plan to do any shopping since it's a two-minute walk from Queen St.

The room could have used a good vacuum, but to be fair we did show up early. The weather was bad when we stayed here but there were heaters available. Before staying at this property, please consider if you have the leg muscles to walk up the stairs to your room, or plan your trip around having a rest somewhere before returning to the hotel.

The room was perfect ,nice and clean ,also location is near everything in the city for your needs and wants. I was there only for a night you can hear noise and music but Allgood I like the vibes .....Will definitely be back if I have a chance to visit again Auckland..

Hard for my husband walking up two flights of stairs as he had had a stroke Had to ask for a duvet as the bed only had a top sheet and nothing else and I like weight to sleep.

I liked the service and hospitality of the hotel. Location was ok, not that awesome. but I loved the room and comfort in hotel. value for money :)

Location is within walking distance to night life, harbour and attractions. Historical character building. Bed was comfortable and clean.

Being woken up at 7am by loud construction noise from adjacent building site! Shower could have been cleaner

Great location, loved being able to have a lovely sit down dinner with a great beer. It is such a beautiful old building and the room was lovely.

I think the bathroom drains need something poured down them, the shower drain couldn't keep up with the water, and there were a few old stains on the bedsheets.

The service and affection of the staff was excellent, it made all the difference. The building has an old feature and makes it look like a movie, super comfortable room, cleanliness and great location.
