The location was great. The room was very included a mobile phone like device that served like an e-concierge. This could be taken out of the room to provide walking directions to key attractions. Most appreciated was the complimentary large bottle of water which was not limited to just one a day and replenished promptly. The breakfast was one of the best we have had at a hotel. It had a good salad bar, nice pastries, free flow champagne and wine, fresh strawberries in buffet and even a fresh strawberry milkshake. There was Iberico ham, poached eggs and even Portugeuse egg tarts. A truly sumptuous breakfast. Having stayed at many historical hotels, most do not live up to their hype and price. This hotel though completely justifies its 5-star rating (if not 6). The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Our visit coincided with the visti of the Pope and the roads around the hotel were closed to traffic. The hotel assigned one of its staff to help us drag our luggage to a place where taxis were still allowed to ply. and hailed a taxi for us to the airport. Truly service to the last mile. I would definitely stay here again should I be next in Lisbon.

Nothing really. The service and room were exceptional. It certainly exceeded my expectations.

The big customer focus. Seems almost effortless, and entrenched in every single member of staff!!. The doorman, the receptionists, the concierge, the cleaners, dining and kitchen staff, room service. They all pulled out the best of themselves and made our 1st stay in Lisbon and also futher extendedour stayfor another 3nights. In EVERYTHING we did, in every request we made they simple made it special. My birthday surprise at breakfast as well as the chocolate covered pineapple fruits and champagne 🍾 in the evening, were wonderful touches.

it was central to all the must see sites, walking distance to all. The front staff was excellent and helpful with suggestions to see in and out of the city. We especially love setting up a private tour to the neighboring towns, the driver was professional and knowledgeable about towns, villages and city. The cleaning staff was excellent especially their attention to detail; it was lovely that everyday they would leave a token to make you feel special and being taken care of. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Lisbon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a beautiful and elegant hotel in the heart of the old town on the lovely Avenue de Liberdade. The staff is extremely courteous and accommodating. We were so thankful they allowed us to check in early in the morning after a long flight to Lisbon. The concierge, especially Paulo is a gem. His expertise and restaurant suggestions were fantastic! His 20 year experience as a concierge at this hotel makes him a delight to talk to about Lisbon and visiting surrounding cities! We stayed a week and came back for our last night in Portugal as we enjoyed it so much. Breakfast is nice and gratefully open till 11:30 when you get the opportunity to sleep in. Hotel Avenida Palace is Lisbon’s oldest hotel built as a terminus hotel for the beautiful Rossio train station next door.

Surprised to see breakfast buffet during COVID although Portugal is highly vaccinated. The hotel has many Purcell stations situated around buffet and by elevators. Hopefully people use before and after touching serving spoons (especially when coming back for seconds). Otherwise, I can’t think of anything negative about this wonderful hotel with old world charm.

This is our second time here. Thoroughly elegant, in the grand style of the 1930s and 1940s, with upholstered chairs and plenty of warm and attentive staff. (We don't like mid-century modern). Not as modern as some, but the staff and the elegance was what we wanted. The breakfast was sumptuous and in the same style. Live music every night at tea. Perfect for a romantic celebration. And, walkable to everything downtown with a concierge that had ideas for every taste. We felt like royalty.

The only downgrade was the exercise room. Just a few machines. The room and the layout needed some attention.

From the moment we arrived we were mde to feel most welcome. Attentive staff with a smile! Design and decor of the public rooms really sumptious. Like wslking into an oasis of opulent calm from the heat and bustle of the sreet. Bar meals from 12:30 were just right for us. Music for an hour in the evening (-in the lounge next the bar) was an added bonus. Even the lifts were quick to arrive! If coming by car N.B. parking at this City-centre hotel is very limited but the staff do try to help. However, its prime-site location is one of the key benefits -excellent for walking out to the shops, restaurants etc, with taxi rank, city tour golf-cart rides and metro station nearby, if needed.

For us, nothing; all good to excellent... most guests arrived in taxis but you need to be aware of the limited car parking at the hotel. For us not a problem but bear in mind this palace/hotel was built pre-car era in the centre of the City at the end of a/the main avenue so it's no surprise that underground car parking was not included! Best to arrive by public transport/taxi. You are well served by the city taxis once there. There were street-side parking slots, including a few e-car charging points, nearby but not sure if for resident permit holders or what, so best to do your research if you need parking.

The location and the helpful attitude of the staff in addition to the beautiful and elegant settings of the Avenida Palace. A true palace!

My room and the room of the rest of the group were on the first (upper) floor facing the Starbucks. Even though the view was not great, that fact was compensated by the fact that it was really quiet and there were only two rooms in that corridor. It is not that I did not like it, it is simply the only thing that perhaps I would have changed from my experience. I still love the Avenida Palace. I loved it all the way.

The hotel was beautiful with very ornate decor and furnishings. Our room was very clean and comfortable and quiet considering the hotel is in the centre of the city. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and very attentive service. We made use of the free valet parking, which was very convenient and saved us a lot on what it would have cost us to use a car park. We enjoyed the entertainment provided in the bar lounge in the early evening, there was a wonderful pianist playing some very nice music which made it a very pleasant place to have a drink before going out to dinner. The staff at the hotel were all wonderful, nothing is too much trouble and they all look so smart in their uniforms. Excellent stay all round.

Everything was lovely.

We arrived at this hotel a bit confused because the hotel entrance was surrounded by shops . The actual entrance won't let your taxi get inside because of the narrow entrance to the side of the hotel. We met a woman receptionist and just had to get our passport and just have to let our check in process quickly without any chat of how was your trip or how's the journey but an instant booking. What is lovely are the porters because they always greet and say hello or assist us whenever we get in or out of the hotel. Since I've been to most 5 star hotels and to classify this hotel 5 star is possible during its heyday for me it's 4 star only. The rooms are ok but a bit dated and all plants are plastic made. There are no restaurants but room service. We tried the bar which is also a bit like going to an English pub but the lobby is lovely with some singers and piano shows every evening before you go for dinner. The breakfast restaurant is like going to a function or banquet hall but the hallway is a lovely setting with fake plants and the hall for breakfast facing the main road on the side was lovely. Not so sure what others say that breakfast is great but the choices are always the same . This will be boring if you have to stay here for a week which we have only 3 days before we leave going to algarve for our next destination. The porter, staff at the breakfast room, at the bar and those ladies who clean our room are the best. don’t forget to tip them😉 Location is great because it's all near to any metro, the funicular, junta elevator, martim moniz for Tram 28 and further up to the catch any hop on hop off bus and lots of restaurants to choose nearby. The bad thing is the bathroom was so small and it's not advisable to open door widely because the toilet seat blocks it, a sliding door will be better option
