Casa Lirio

Staff were lovely and friendly, and they couldn't do enough for you. Lovely fresh breakfast every morning with the option of eggs and bacon. Nice coffee ☕️ 😋 I read a lot of reviews regarding the location and street outside. This place was very easy to find 2 min walk off Ramblas. The old part. Beautiful old building with a huge wooden door. Casa Lirio signed on the door. Every night, the street outside was steamed cleaned by their local authority. So spotless when you woke up. If you want a new area, then maybe the oldest part of Barcelona isn't for you. We personally love these buildings and the historical area. Turn left outside, and you're 5 min walk to sea front. Rooms were modern and spotlessly clean. The beds were super comfy with 100% cotton sheets and bedding. The rooms were cleaned and fresh towels daily. Hot power shower. We had a little balcony that overlooked the street. Netflix TV. I'd like to say a big thank you to the lovely young lady who worked in the kitchen every morning. Always smiling and friendly. We stayed 5 nights and had a lovely continental breakfast every morning. Thanks all, we will definitely stay here again..

room was excellent for the price and they had a little quiet patio where you could sit and have a beer or wine (the hotel clerk sold the beer at a very inexpensive price) and be quiet and enjoy the area.

The front entrance scared us a bit and we almost went somewhere else. Turns out fron of building is not part of hotel. Once we got in (have to push buzzer or call number printed on door) everything was fine. Hotel name on door was not very large and had to look for it.

The room was really spacious and the air-conditioner was always functional (no need to put in a card) which was great since it was a very hot outside. Water was unlimited and breakfast was optional with a coffee machine available free of charge for a coffee a day. Fridge in the room (empty) which was great to be able to bug food and drinks of our own, or there were cold drinks available to purchase from reception. There was also a nice garden terrace (no views) available to access until 10pm.

The noise from other rooms was more than anticipated, and I am heavy sleeper. The person upstairs (I believe private residence as it was a shared building) was up and seemingly jumping from about 3am all the way through to 4am with music and one morning started clapping really loud about 5am for a long time. There is also quite a lot of street noise despite being off the main sections and not on a road. The accommodation does provide earplugs on the bedside upon arrival, which suggests it is an ongoing issue.

The hotel is stylish, modern and very comfortable. It also smelt lovely. The room was really clean and bed was very comfy. The shower was also incredible. I loved the communal terrace outside it was a lovely way to relax in between exploring the city, covered over with grape vines and birds singing above you. Breakfast was really great - everything you needed to set you up for a day of exploring. There was a choice of continental and freshly cooked eggs, omelette, bacon, fresh juice etc upon request and then good coffee, delicious little pastries, cheese, hams, cakes. Above all the staff were really friendly and the location is perfect. Step out of the property and you’re roaming the streets of the gothic quarter with a top rated restaurant on the same road (Bodega Barritz I think it’s called). It’s a few minutes walk from Las Ramblas and the nearest metro stop for L3.

The balcony is small and it’s more a door onto a little ledge with no seats. Then again, most of Barcelona’s balconies are this.

Clean and pleasant

For upgraded room I thought would be a bit nicer but it was ok

We were very pleasantly surprised by the kind hotel staff and the rooms. There was plenty common area space and the room was very nicely set up with a crib that we requested as well as all the essentials. The room design was lovely and we had a very good night's rest at Casa Lirio. Breakfast was far better than average breakfast as they offered option for freshly cooked eggs and freshly squeezed juice. We enjoyed the common areas due to availability of microwave, free water, complimentary coffee and some space to eat our takeaway dinner while our child slept. Best part was definitely the staff as the lovely young receptionist helped us with booking a taxi and various other things.

Building was difficult to navigate with luggage and pram due to tight spaces, old elevator and heavy doors. But, that's probably common with most old buildings in Barcelona.

I like the fact they asked us what pillows we would like, what temperature we would like the room setting too and if we would like any drinks in our room on arrival. This was a nice touch! It was my birthday and they even added some chocolates and a bottle of cava. Lovely touch The location is fantastic and very easy to get to. I purposely booked this from for it's bath and it didn't disappoint. Also smelt lovely would like to know what they use.

There was no hot water on the 1sr night but this was soon resolved. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. However there is a communal kitchen with a kettle and a toaster coffee machine.

The choice of pillows and temperature for the room before arriving was a nice touch. Also the dental care pack was lovely to see as I forgot my Toothbrush. We arrived after reception closed and the instructions for accessing the keys were very clear.

Because of the set up of the room the only window was out to an unused small middle part of the hotel and when the window was opened there was a bad smell. On our last night the ceiling started leaking. We notified staff but there was nothing they could do that evening. They let us keep the mop though.

This hotel is truly a gem and not a 2-star hotel, this was the third stop of a 4-stop European vacation and was a better overall feel than the other three hotels. The room was far more spacious than I expected. As an unexpected bonus, there was a mini refrigerator in the room. The climate control for the room for such a humid location was AMAZING. They provide chilled filtered water in the main floor kitchen for you to take back to your room (to keep chilled in the mini-fridge). The breakfast had a chef making egg orders to your specification to accompany the more familiar charcuterie selection.

This has nothing to do with the hotel. I was not ready for the gothic quarter how close the streets (alleys?) felt. That compounded with the weather (extremely hot and humid) and the cabs/transports hinting at risks associated with the area caught me off guard. Barcelona is a large sprawling city and not conducive to walking about to various attractions.

The bed was very comfortable the room in general no complaints. The toiletries (shampoo, conditioner and body lotion) smelled great and good quality! The breakfast was good with a lot of different options. The staff was helpful! Guesthouse 3 minute walk to Las Ramblas and walking distance to most attractions in the city center and quite safe to walk around at night.

The entrance of the building is a bit weird and not clean. Since the guesthouse is only one floor of the building I understand is not entirely their fault. Since I was travelling alone one of the reasons I booked the room was because of Netflix (only to discover just some rooms have it.. "Regular rooms" just have cable TV with Spanish channels only.. So if you're interested in more options in the TV check the room you pick) The room could use a mini fridge.. It's a beautiful guesthouse with good conditions but a bit overpriced.
