Catalonia Born

Room was lovely and clean, bathroom was fab, bed was so comfy! We loved the breakfast at the hotel and we really enjoyed the location, close to the metro at Arc de Triumph and some fab little bars within a ten second walk which was perfect. We loved our stay so much we are looking at using the Catalonia Resorts Hotels for our next trip to Menorca. The rooftop pool was so sweet, we went at 3pm and only one other guest was using it. Staff were so helpful, we left our bags as we had a late night flight and they were stored securely.

A little expensive, but for the location, quality and how good experience we had we didnt mind paying.

the pool attracts many pigeons. not able to use it. the minibar contains drinks and food that are not on the price list. so they are not priced and customers can take this to mean they are free. the price list needs updating to avoid confusion.

Front desk staff were professional and patient. It was our first visit to Barcelona so we asked for directions multiple times. They could not have been more helpful and always had a smile on their face. The breakfast staff were also outstanding. The breakfast bar was always clean and filled with options to eat. Usually do not eat breakfast at a hotel but couldn't wait for it here because of its freshness and variety. The location was perfect. Able to walk to majority of things we wanted to see. The room was nice. Had a king size bed and housekeeping kept it fresh every day. Thank you for everything you did to make our stay enjoyable.

My one and only complaint was we had an inside room with absolutely no natural light. Honestly, we were out and about the majority of the day so really did not matter. There were two elevators on property. Unfortunately, only one was in working order. Sometimes made it difficult when we had a lot to carry. (we are in the over 50 crowd).

The hotel was adjacent to the castle and the castle grounds had many peacocks which came onto the property of the hotel. I loved having breakfast with the peacocks who posed just for me. There are over 30 of them and they sleep in the trees surrounding the property. Another nice feature was that coffee and small snack was available all the time.

The hotel was at the top of a large hill. The first 2 days, we didn't know about the elevator down the street and walked the steps up and down. I did 37 floors one day which was way too much for my knees. Once we were told about the elevator, it was much better. Peacocks made up for anything negative!

The location is excellent. Ideal for couples. Very safe area, especially with access via main thoroughfair by the Arc if walking home late at night. Equally, in the other direction, there are narrow streets to wonder in born, so it's the best of both worlds. We used the hotel as a base so did not try the food but the staff were excellent. The front door access is staff controlled, so again, very safety conscious. The rooftop pool area is great for a break after a day of exploring. There is no need to use the metro or taxi if based here. The whole city is walkable from the location. The clientele of the hotel appeared to be couples and some groups, so all like-minded people with minimal noise disturbance . Holding facility available for luggage and an early check-in was accommodated. I highly recommend the hotel and will return.

Hard to find fault ! Everything was ideal for our purposes

I liked this property for many reasons starting with the location which was perfect for me. Located a two minute walk from the Arc De Triomf which served as the ideal identifiable location when giving instructions to your taxi driver also the location of a train and subway station. The El Born neighbourhood itself was ideal filled with character and beauty, restaurants and shops and the truly perfect walking distance to everything including the beach and surrounding neighbourhoods and attractions. The hotel itself was comfortable in every way the room, bed, bathroom all premium in nature. It is a modern smaller hotel which integrates well with the overall vibe of the area. I chose this hotel because it had a pool among all the other things that was the deciding factor for me. I knew before I booked it that the pool was small but I took the chance that it would be large enough to satisfy my needs and it did. it’s 3 feet/1 m deep and is enjoyable if you’re the only one in it, with two or three people you’re just gonna stand around and cool off. 

There was nothing I didn’t like about this property. I can say that the television reception in my room was really poor, lots of digital interference on every channel but I didn’t mention it to the staff. If I had they may have resolved the issue easily, I didn’t give them the opportunity because it just wasn’t important to me at the time.

This is a fantastic location in one of the nicest areas. You have lovely streets, squares, restaurants, parks, etc. right next to the hotel. It's literally opposite the popular Elsa y Fred restaurant. And all the "non-grid" parts of the city are within walking distance. Also some of the nicest and warmest staff I've met in years. The hotel is lovely and has a tiny but pleasant rooftop pool area.

Maybe the room was a bit too dark as the window faced something that was more of a ventilation shaft than a backyard. But we didn't spend much time in the room anyway. Also, the A/C was a bit noisier. Minibar in the room could be a bit cheaper (3-4 EUR for drinks that cost 1 EUR in the store next door).

Great value in an excellent location. Far enough away from the tourist run to give a more chilled vibe whilst still having enough going on to give it atmosphere. Hotel is walking distance to the main hotspots, metro 5mins walk away and lots of good bars and restaurants to choose from on the street. The rooms were a decent size with a huge bed, the bathroom was large and it had much needed double and secondary glazing to quiet the noise from the street (mainly the bin lorries and deliveries in the early hrs). Staff were polite and attentive. Would definitely stay here again.

I will did the same exact review I did six month ago. We used to live in Barcelona and each time we are going back we are staying at the Catalonia Born. The location of this hotel is perfect, the Born (La Ribera) is the most outstanding neighborhood of the city. Right between the Eixample and the Barrio Gotico, you are really in the heart of the city. The hotel itself gives the same quality of rooms years after years. It is always clean; the staff is always great, and everything is just as you need. The ratio between quality and price must be one of the best in Barcelona. If you are getting to the city by car, there is a huge parking under the “Arco de Triunfo” which is a 3 minutes walk from the hotel.
