Methavalai Residence Hotel - SHA Extra Plus

Very clean hotel, great central location, fantastically helpful staff (they don't speak much English though so please be patient with them). They saved me from starvation by ordering me food in the middle of the night. This hotel offers great value for money, I recommend it.

There was a misunderstanding about the test and go package - if you're booking this hotel because they're participating in the test and go scheme or similar quarantine package, make sure to tell them that, otherwise they'll assume you're just booking a regular stay and will not arrange the necessary testing etc. for you which will be a problem when you arrive.

The location was perfect - it is tucked away a little so you don’t hear any of the noise at night. We were extremely close to everything - we barely had to use taxis to get around. Everything is within 5km it seemed like! Lots of temples, restaurants, markets, etc right in the vicinity. The front desk staff was very friendly and spoke English to accommodate us. Our room was clean and had plenty of towels for us.

The breakfast isn’t included and costs 250 BHT per person, which is a little steep. Just walk a few blocks though and you can find better breakfast for around 100 BHT!

Great value for money. Excelent budget option with good location close enough to walk to the temples and Khao San road, but still distant to avoid all the agitation all night and day. The room was spotless clean.

The entrance is in a secondary road, a little bit hidden and dark at night. The hotel would benefit a little furniture renovation as it is slightly outdated, although it is all still in good state.

Hotel location is very good. Abt 15-20 mins walking to Wat Pho / Grand Palace. Abt 10 mins walking to Khaosan Road. A silent place

Hotel very well located to visit the main temples and Grand Palace in Bangkok. It is in front of the democracy monument, you can walk to the temples (about 20min), or take a taxi (I suggest to take one with taximeter, or download the local app Grab, it's like Uber). Close to many restaurants and the famous Khao San Road, but very quiet area. Hint: the people is kind, but some people on the street will tell you that the grand palace or other monuments are closed, but it is not true.

The staff is friendly, complies with what is requested. But do not expect a lot of information o tips for tourist visits.

Location was excellent. Plenty of local buses to get you around. Walking distance to grand palace, and reclining buddha,, golden temple on the mount, etc. In front of hotel is a lesser known building (free of charge ) on the main road which houses modern art on the ground floor, and a small interactive museum on the 1st floor explaing the history of asia, its people and food.It only takes about an hour to do all fun interactive things but gives anyone "new" to thailand a starting point to understanding this fascinating country and its culture. There is also a canal boat ,5 minute walk,which will take you all the way to Pratunem, with its fantastic clothing market and high rise shopping malls, cinemas etc for 14bht. You will be amongst locals who use this to get around, and also see a different Bangkok. Food choices in area, fab. There is something for everyone. Thai, chinese, western,. Street food excellent quality, bars galore if thats your thing. Hotel is off main street, so very quiet, rooms clean and good value for money.

The hotel advertises satelite and cable channels. All satelite channels are in thai, and booking .com take note please there are no cable channels at all so couldnt even watch netflix etc. Whilst to some people this wouldnt be an issue , for us it was one of the reasons we had booked this particular hotel Extremely Noisy aircon in our room 306. The window didnt fit to the frame properly so aircon had to work twice as hard to cool room. Shower leaked into rest of bathroom area.

The residence hotel is tucked away in a little corner but is easily accessible. The hotel was accommodating for my family and was conveniently located, just a few minutes walk from Khao Son Road (a lively tourism spot!), McDonalds, and other attractions. It's more so on the historic and local end of Bangkok, so if you're looking for lux areas, it's best to look at Sukumvit district. The rooms were also very clean and the staff were hospitable. The hotel also offers very affordable tours to outskirts of Bangkok.

We enjoyed Khao Son road the most but wish there was more to do in walking distance from the hotel. Since it's in a relatively local area, most shops and people are laid back and open restaurants quite late in the day. But that's not any fault of the hotel! The staff did all they could to direct us to the best places.

Location. A short 10-15min walk from Khaosan road Room: size and confort. Staff: very friendly Tip. It's hard to get a taxi an afordable grab or tuk tuk. Use the front desk and reserve a taxi. Tip Although the breakfast options are not sufficient, in the street paralel to khaosan road you can find good options.

Noise in the room each time the compressor of the air conditioning unit worked...every 10min or so. Breakfast options. We didn't book with breakfast but asked for the options. Didn't have toasts, pancakes, croissants or similar items.
