Sokullu Pasa Hotel - Special Class0

I can honestly say that from the moment we arrived to the moment we left our stay at the Sokullu Paşa was perfect, thanks in no small part to the friendliness of its staff and their eagerness to be of assistance (very big shout out here to Fırat and Mehmet whose kindness was so much appreciated). Location wise the hotel can't be beaten when it comes to access to all the major tourist attractions and decent restaurants - yes, there are hills and some of the pavements are narrow but my daughter, who was with us, is physically and mentally disabled and managed just fine with our help - but it's the hotel itself with its authentic Turkish charm (and hospitality) that won us over and how lovely it was, after a busy day of sightseeing, to return there to sit in the garden whilst listening to the music next door and just soak up the overall atmosphere. As to breakfast, there was a huge selection, with new additions every morning, and everything, without exception, was delicious. Our room, meanwhile, was massive (room 204), comfortable, and clean, and although some of the furnishings and fittings could do with a bit of attention (for example, bidet control that came off in our hands, a screen around the spa bath and shower that allowed water to escape from underneath) that only seemed to add to its charm (I'd take an authentic Ottoman building with all its history and a few minor imperfections over a modern hotel with no soul whatsoever every time). Honestly, we LOVED our stay at the Sokullu Paşa and would have zero hesitation in staying there again. İt really is a VERY special place.

The fact that we couldn't stay for longer

Comfortable bed, the quiet atmosphere which was conducive to getting a good sleep. Also it's location is close to all the major tourist attractikns in the area. I would be happy to stay in the hotel again on a return visit.

My flight was delayed by 5 hours and then my pre-booked transfer to the hotel did not have my name on their list for collection on my arrival so I had to find my own way to the hotel. However I was offered a room upgrade to make up for this which turned out to be excellent so I changed from being a very angry customer initially to being a satisfied one throughout my stay

The staff was really helpful - whether it be the manager or the support staff. Even the airport transfers the hotel arranged were quite economical and efficient. We especially liked the Turkish breakfast served. The spread was pretty good - and resident cat every morning was an added bonus. Location was naturally fabulous with most major major attractions being at a walking distance. Though with everything being at a height one needed to be strategic about which way to go and come from. For example it was better to stop at a tram station uphill and then come downwards towards the hotel and while leaving hotel go downhill to the nearest bus stop to start your day if possible. Another fantastic thing about the hotel was the fact that a popular restaurant 1897 was right next door. The service, food and the price at which it is served are all unbelievably awesome. All in all really happy we chose this hotel.

The shower was more like a tap rather than a shower as the water came out en masse with no option to control it well. Also we tried opening the TV 2-3 times but didn't work. We might be missing something but didn't bother calling the staff as we anyway didn't have much time to watch TV. A couple of additional plug points would have also been good.

Staff very nice and cooperative. Rooms clean and well furnished, breakfast also good.

Accessibility to Sultanahmet Tram Station, blue Mosque and Haghia Sophia is very difficult and tiresome. Streets are quite narrow and very steep walking. Distances mentioned in Booking.com are aerial Distances, on ground walking takes much time and tiredness. Hotel can be good for solo travellers who just come to sleep or slightly aged people who like spending most of the time in Hotel. Not feasible for families. No issue with statf, cleanliness or breakfast etc.

perfekte Lage , freundliche Staff , super Bett. Mr Firat gave us the bigger room with an extra bed to suit our 3 year old child. the breakfast was very very good und suitable for a family, everyone was so friendly and the place is perfectly situated near sultan Ahmed mosque. we would love to go again. One of the best hotels I stayed in the last 10 years.

the lighting in the room was a bit dim and the bathroom was not well areated but that didnt give us that big of a problem, just small things.

-Bed was a bit hard for us -Preys from nearby mosque early in the morning (i belive this problem you have in all hotels in old town) -Some furniture/ equipment may need renovating

Sokullupasa Hotel was a true revelation to us. It appears that the hotel is actually the restored house of Mehmed-pasha Sokolović, one of the Ottoman Grand Viziers and, what is more important to us from Serbia, of Serbian origin. The hotel (house), built in the traditional Turkish style, still conveys the spirit of the glorious past. Spacious rooms with colourful rugs and thick baldachins, some with the view of the Marmara Sea, others, like ours with a hot tub and a hammam to fully experience the spirit of the East. If you open the window in the hammam you can even enjoy popular music from the West played with Turkish instruments in a nearby restaurant. The hotel's restaurant offers Turkish delicacies along with the food the rest of Europe is accustomed to. For architecture lovers, while dining you can enjoy your breakfast amongst some Byzantine columns supporting the ceiling of the dining room, once part of a bigger water reservoir under Istanbul. A beautiful garden with lemon trees and garden furniture sets awaits to accommodate those anxious to light a cigarette. If you seek relaxation and a break from your everyday life and worries, this is the right place to come to. Milena&Ivan

The hotel is in the ancient city with easy access to eferywherr. It was very clean and the staff were nice. Breakfast was plentiful, the hot food was luke warm so could be improved. Bedding and towels were spotless. There were nice touches like toiletries, bottled water each day in room and hairdryer, were welcome. It was cold so wall heaters were on in the breakfast room ensuring it was lovely and warm.

Our room was quite noisy as 1st floor we heard neighbours cgatting sitting outside and noise from people walking past in street. Also we were right by wooden stairs so heard everyone late night and early morning using the stairs to come and go.

This property in the heart of Istanbul has a magical feel, it is just if you go back in time and surrounds you with comfort and love. Usually I don’t trust reviews and advertisements but I. An reassure you the excellent reviews are true and I personally would always go back to this hotel when in Istanbul.

The unique original style of furniture and exterior look. The staff was beyond excellent it made us feel like we belong to the family. The cleanness, the quietness of the garden in spite of been situated in such central spot. The whole experience was above and beyond expectations.

Great location very close to the main sights. Our room (suite with hamam and jacuzzi) was big and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with lots of vegetables. Service was good, especially Mehmet who was very welcoming. We used hotel airport transfer that was very efficient and well priced. The property has beautiful traditional artifacts and it felt like we were in a museum.

The room could use some more shelves and hangers for more comfort. It was always quite humid inside the room with moisture smell. Most disappointing thing was that hamam was not heated and I was explained that it’s because it’s summertime (in September) so they did not want other rooms to get hot. I felt like I paid for hamam inside the room so it should be working.
