Oldtown Sultanahmet Suites

The apartment is clean, beds are comfortable and neighbourhood is as quiet as it could be – seagulls and mosques are everywhere in city center. Location is perfect for tourism: main attractions are in 15 min walk, restaurants and shops are in 2 min walk. The whole building is an apart-hotel with very friendly hosts.

There were a few things that bothered us and can be improved. First of all, the small bedroom faces east and it is essential to have blackout curtains here (unfortunately, there wasn't). Second, there were not enough hooks to hang our clothes. It would be nice to have a few on a wall in the corridor, e.g. in front of bathroom. The bathroom, by the way, would also benefit from more hooks, as there was only one. Lastly, it would be great to have more little tables, as they are quite useful for storing unpacked stuff.

Overall we liked the accommodation. The flat is clean and quite spacious. It is very well located next to the historical centre, shops and restaurants. The area seemed safe. We liked the lady who met us. She speaks only Turkish but is very friendly and we managed to understand each other. It was easy to get and leave keys. The owners arranged regular rubbish collection from the flat. Also, the street is very quite and we almost could not hear neighbours. So we had a good night sleep.

We visited in November, it was a bit cold. There is no central heating. The owners provided an electric heater and additional blankets, but it was still cold. The kitchen is poorly equipped. We rented flat because we wanted to cook, but in this kitchen it was not comfortable. The cooker has only one ring and worked intermittently. The frying pan and pot were of weird size (too big for the cooker or very small), so we bought our own pan. The kitchen is only good if you want to prepare tea or warm up something in a microwave.

Our host Mora was wonderful and went out of her way to make sure our time was comfortable and stress free. The apartment is modern, spotless and easily catered for five of us. Excellent value for money.

The only thing I found difficult was the steep hill to get to the main attractions if one was to walk everywhere. Otherwise only a five minute walk to the main site seeing which is amazing

From the beginning the host was very kind and helpful to provide details about the best restaurants in the nearby, he gave us three Istanbul cards for transportation for free, and he showed the location facilities there. The apartments are located in the old city, very close to many touristic attractions. We found everything we needed there, air conditioning, a tiny bathroom with all the water installations working well, a tiny kitchen which was enough for our needs, and very, very clean. We felt very comfortable there. The host kept contact with the taxi drivers we scheduled for arriving, departing or visiting touristic attractions. He even extended the checkout time with one hour for free, in order to match with the time of the scheduled taxi arrival. We had a very pleasant experience here.

The apartment was easy to find. Spacious for our group of friends and exceptionally clean. It was exactly as advertised! Our hosts were the kindest and hospitable mother and son! Evening that we asked for was delivered: we weee allowed to check in very early, get some gas burner for our coffee maker that didn’t work on the induction one that was there. They let us check in late, got us a taxi to the train station and even checked with us how we made it home! Phenomenal experience! Such a graceful and kind people!

No complaints at all!

Clean building and appartment. Lady from the cleaning service is very nice. She doesn't speak english, but you manage to understand each other somehow :) Very close (15 mnts walking) to the old Center where 90% of the objectives are located. Supermarkets and restaurants near this place.

If you travel by car you have to know that public parking is available but 1% chances to find one of the parking spots free. So, you have to find alternatives - there are some private parkings near Cundi Park which is near the appartment. We payed 450 TL for 3 full days but the car was safe. I suppose you can negociate, depending of your number of days.

the Check in was fast. The hosts were friendly and hospitable. I received the keys immediately. the apartment is very comfortable and clean. towels were prepared for everyone, as well as shampoo and soap in the bathroom. Each room had a heater, which was very handy in winter. once I had to ask for help about a leaking faucet, but the problem was quickly resolved. the elderly hostess is very friendly. The apartment is located on a narrow street, but in the center. shops and restaurants nearby.

the only remark: I would change the frying pan in the kitchen for a new one. Unfortunately we weren't able to use it.

Lovely compact apartment in a quiet street in Sultanahmet part of the city. Only a short walk to Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace and the Blue Mosque. The Grand Bazaar is also withing easy walking distance. You can also reach the sea but crossing the highway by the coast is tricky (use the lights). There is also a shared roof terrace with some views across to the Sea of Marmara. Everything was kept clean and the host was very helpful.

Basic kitchen....just one hob ring. The air conditioning is in the main bedroom only.
