Our room was really spacious, super clean & had everything we needed in it. The bathroom was also a great size with a lovely shower & the best bath!! We had the room at the front of the property & had a gorgeous sea view. We would 100% book to stay here again.

There really isn't anything worth mentioning to be honest as the 2 little things we would maybe change are just down to personal taste/choice etc. But for us the pillows weren't to our preference & the selection of teas available in the room didn't include breakfast tea. So really nothing at all that hindered our stay. It really is a wonderful place.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel in a beautiful setting. We were in the attic room (4) which was really spacious and comfortable. The room was spotless and had everything we needed. We had our little dog with us (his first time in a hotel!) and he very much enjoyed it! Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff who were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We chose to have dinner in the restaurant; food and service was exceptional. Breakfast was also absolutely amazing and included in the price of the stay. We will definitely be back for another out of season break. Thank you very much!

Don’t think there is anything we didn’t like!

Fabulous choice for breakfast & far too much, very friendly morning welcome. Yogurt with fresh berries, unsweetened granola topped with lemon balm microgreens - heaven! Room was extremely comfortable, unfussy & excellent of you have a dog. Looking out of the window over the estuary & listening to the gulls & the tide lapping in was wonderful.

Actually cannot think of anything negative & I am usually hard to please. The only thing I felt could be improved is more subdued lighting & the ability to turn off the fan in the bathroom when using the amazingly luxurious freestanding bath tub, having looked forward to using it I didn't feel like soaking for long due to the noisy fan & bright lights. It is possibly better out of the winter season when not needing to turn the lights on maybe.

The full English breakfast was superb each morning with the addition of the fruit, yoghurt and granola. I enjoyed an exceptional dinner. The steaks my relatives requested were superb for lunch. My accommodation was excellent. The Staff were all very attentive.

I did not enjoy all the Pearl barley added to the pheasant dish and expected a vegetable. I would also like to mention that in the room, there was not a mirror near to a plug socket in order to dry and style my hair. I was in room 3. However, there were no other faults to the room.

Beautiful location with views of the estuary from the restaurant's picture windows, and really delicious food - we dined here for two evening meals and breakfasts. A lovely warm welcome from the owner and her team.

We appreciated the Grade 2 Listed quirkiness of our room in the eaves, and the ensuite has a luxurious bath - but the tiniest shower cubicle - probably the only thing I would change, so that's just being picky... overall, it was renovated to a high standard.

Super breakfast.good range of real ales. Not a pub.more of a restaurant with a bar attached ! But you are welcome to st at the bar before eating and the views are superb. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Very friendly professional service.

The rooms are superbly fitted and decorated. The only mistake we made was turning the radiators to high as it was cold. They are so efficient it was actually too hot to sleep. But that was easily solved by opening a few velum windows.

The staff were excellent. They could not do enough for us and the location was wonderful. Food was also excellent and overall standard of the hotel and staff was exceptional.

we both felt the rooms were rather small & room in the Sailors rest where we stayed the first two nights of a three night stay had a little to much furniture which made a somewhat compact room feel even smaller.

Great position in an interesting street right by the estuary. Much of the building has been sensitively modernised. Staff were helpful. We had breakfast and dinner and they were both good.

While there is absolutely no parking at the hotel in Irsha Street there is a small parking lot just up an alley but you need to turn into Torridge Rd when coming from the waterfront, The entrance to the paring lot is easy to miss. If you do there is a large park at the waterfront about 200m from the hotel.

The breakfasts were tasty, the staff very accommodating and the room very comfortable. Appledore itself is an interesting village. The only thing that threw us a little was the fact that our room in the Sailor's Rest was at least a 1/2 mile walk from where our breakfast was served in The Royal George. Fortunately it did not rain on any of the mornings we were there but if it had been pouring down we would not have been happy. This was not communicated to us prior to or immediately after booking. Being put in an annex means to us that it's next door not 1/2 mile down the road!!

The setting for this place is gorgeous, right on the waterfront, with a nice spot to sit out the front and indoor space that makes the most of the view. All the staff were incredibly helpful and polite. We stayed in the family room and found its quirky but ample layout rather delightful. We ate breakfast and dinner, both outstanding, with also a very good bar list including cocktails and a good rum selection. Exceptional without being fussy. Appledore is a lovely place for a potter too.
