One of the best we stayed in the last few years. Amazing design of the room and lights, very comfortable bed (!!!), bed linen and toileters (such nice smell). Nice bathroom and view from the windows. Small fridge and everything that we needed. This was almost perfect stay.. Too short and just few small things.

It is not about what we didnt like, but small hints.. there was a small problem with door (they were slightly moving each time someone in the hotel was opening or closing their door..and with leaking stopper during perfect bath. And it would be helpful if widows would not be so hard to open or shut. But these are just details.

I had a wonderful stay at the Seagate. The Inn is on the quay at Appledore and my room at the front had superb views over the Torridge estuary. Just to sit in a chair and look at the far landscape and the activity on the water and harbourside was mesmerising. The bed was comfortable with crisp, white sheets and the towels in the bathroom (excellent shower) large and fluffy. I ate every night in the restaurant and enjoyed the menu choices. Breakfasts were also excellent, particularly the fresh croissants and pain-au-chocolat! But most of all I must praise the staff, who, without exception were kind, courteous, efficient and more than helpful.

My wish would be for faster wi-fi but that may be something only Openreach can solve.

very friendly and efficient staff, great location overlooking the estuary, parking close. Room was comfortable and equipped with everything required, including iron/ironing board, tea/coffee making facilities etc., and very nice toiletries. Very nice bar area

The room, whilst very attractive with nice furnishings, is a little shabby. Curtains really didn’t fit well and let too much light in (a black out blind would be helpful) and there were patches where plaster was coming off wall, presumably caused by damp (it is an old building) although there was no odour of damp. Bathroom was very small

A lovely hotel having a very welcoming atmosphere. General decoration and lighting throughout the hotel, and adornment of tables - both internally and externally, was excellent at all times. The hotel, our bedroom and ensuite was a very comfortable temperature.

The range of the 'al a carte' menu was sufficient albeit somewhat pricey. However, the food was good! It is appreciated that at the time of our stay, November 2022, costs have increased however, my husband and I thought that £22.00 for two slices of toast with butter and marmalade that I had; my husband's small bowl of cereal, poached eggs on toast (consisting of two slices of toast, two eggs) and two small glasses of fruit juice and a pot of tea for two was, in our opinion, a little steep.

Location was excellent & the views we’re outstanding. The room was lovely & the bed very comfortable. Shower gels & shampoos we’re available in the room which was a nice touch. Coffee machine & fresh milk also complimentary

The room was very dusty. A large fan was in the room to help keep cool. We put it on and a large amount of dust & hair was blown from under the bed indicating the beds had not been moved to clean underneath. One day the milk was not replaced & neither was the complimentary water bottle. Housekeeping needs to be stepped up

We had the family/ double/twin room which is exactly what we wanted. As we were a party of two, we had twin beds and the sofa/L shape as a seating area facing window/view. Amazing Seaview from all 4 windows. 3 windows forward facing, 1side on. Building is on corner hence dbl aspect view. Complimentary toiletries really good quality and they smell divine by Bramley/UK company. Bathroom was spacious and well equipped. Very large shower with separate bath, again very roomy. We stayed 1 night but 2 would have been ideal. On first floor, We had 1 flight of stairs to reach our room/No17. Check in guy was amazing and showed me to our room as it's a couple of hundred yards from the pub itself. We actually found this was better as was not disturbed by people accessing the pub. Had an early dinner in restaurant, I had the Monkfish goujons which I'd recommend. Friendly/attentive staff. 3 seating areas outside aswell and plenty of seating indoors. Small carpark fills quickly so space not guaranteed but a public carpark available nearby. We were lucky and had a choice of spaces. Does get busy as popular. Was fairly quiet when we stayed which was ideal. Mid/high range menu/price. Usual pub grub selection. My main/meal £18. Could hear we were not alone in building but was not disturbed by noise of others, so I'm assuming gd sound proofing but also good/ respectful guests/neighbours. All windows have wooden shutters you can adjust to your need. Mini fridge/drinks snacks additional charge. Tea/coffee making facilities with milk in fridge. Also a coffee pod machine which took us ages to figure out how to use. On/off switch on top, not on side of machine as stated on instruction card. Restaurant menu in room which was helpful. Key card to access building and room. Would stay again. **** Also, good communication with reception before visit.

The room was immaculately clean and our front windows looked out onto the sea front. The colour scheme was bright, stylish, and fun, and the room had a comfortable couch, a king size bed and plenty of cupboard and drawer space. The bathroom had everything one would need - a bath with a shower and nice smelling soaps and shampoo. The building was in a great location, and both dinner and breakfast were interesting with lots of choices. We had a very good experience and would certainly return.

We thought we had booked at The Quay Hotel, but couldn't locate it, and after driving frustratingly up and down, we eventually entered The Seagate and found that they manage both buildings...so check-in was a bit confusing and frustrating. The staff were very friendly, but seemed to have multiple responsibilities, so it was sometimes difficult to know who to approach with questions. However, any request we had (ironing board) was met with a smile and efficient service. There was some muffled noise from the bar below when we went to bed, but it was minor and didn't disturb our rest.

Excellent decor and styling in keeping with the location and setting. Good size room, lovely decor quality bed linen, large bed, modern well sized bathroom and lovely double aspect windows. Excellent food, both evening and breakfast. Staff member Michelle was great, very helpful and always cheery. She made us feel very welcome.

Bedroom windows without slated blinds as was in one window lacked feeling of privacy. No mini bar in room.

It was modern and fresh and in a scenic location. The view was looking over the sandy beaches of Instow during the day and at night the reflections on the water was stunning with the twinkling lights lit up!

Parking near the property was hit and miss because locals obviously have to park their own cars. In the council car park across the road you were guaranteed parking but you had to pay for it!

This is a really good hotel. Made very welcome at reception and shown to my room, which was a very short walk away down the quay. Superb quality room, exceptionally clean with a very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. The room is road side, but didn't hear anything traffic wise etc. Parking in the town is limited at this time of year, but manageable. Room has lovely views too. Just a shame I was working. Will have a return visit with my wife. Food in the restaurant was also excellent, as was the service.

£10 for a glass of white wine!! TV very complicated with no instructions.
