Cedars Inn by Greene King Inns

Vee the manager and her staff were very kind and helpful. I had checked in with a visual impairment to be closer to the hospital. Wonderful people and attentive when needed nothing being too much trouble. Knowledgeable for ideas of things to do around the area. Vee was compassionate enough, she changed my room to be closer to the facilities when she noticed my vision impairment without even me having to ask. How grateful I was. Rooms were spotlessly clean with everything I needed within. The bed was very comfy with crisp white linen. Breakfast was exceptional. Great wide choice for the price. Freshly prepared and cooked at the Inn. Dinner can be had at the Orangery surrounded by the mature gardens and big old trees. Lots Of Birds singing in the garden!

Not sure there's one thing. All my needs were met. Thank you Vee and all the staff at Cedars. ;-)xx

Great location, beautiful grounds, rooms cozy, The room was spotless, well equipped and the bed very comfortable. The staff were lovely, friendly, happy to help and nothing too much trouble especially the lady on reception. We had vegan and vegetarian breakfasts which were really good, loved the pepper/spinach mix with it.

Room was a little on the small side which was made worse for us as a tall couple by the sloping ceiling. Room was extremely warm. Did manage to get a little air flow through the night by leaving both windows and bathroom door open but was very stuffy.

Room was small but adequate. Bed was quite high!. Quiet location. Staff lovely.

One problem was the kitchen didn't seem to understand one egg as they always sent out 2!!!! This happened at St Leonards Greene King Inn too!! There was also an incident at dinner as we had enjoyed a super dinner but our mini dessert & espresso's never materialised & after half an hour waiting and the waitress saying it was just coming we refused to wait any longer. The Manageress did offer a dessert voucher for another night. Spoilt a nice evening really.

Great spacious room with friendly staff and good location. Appreciated the pet friendly room and breakfast was lovely, particularly the pastries. Great location and would definitely stay again if we find ourselves down this way.

We got stuck in traffic meaning we were going to arrive after 10pm (when my booking said checking closed), I tried to call, got sent through a few options but couldn't get through and ended up leaving a message. We did arrive after 10pm but could still check in which we were very grateful for but I would have preferred to confirm this earlier.

Love it here. I stay here a lot as my sister lives just across the road. it’s always clean and staff have always been helpful and friendly (until this time)

Was told at reception what time breakfast was until. we went to have breakfast 20 mins before they told us breakfast was. went to reception she said yes they were still serving went through and they had packed it all away and a member of staff came over and quite rudely said we’ve finished breakfast you are too late. So we paid for breakfast but didn’t get it. I was gutted because I really love it there and my sister uses it a lot. Hate leaving bad reviews but I think things like this help the hotel.

Food was well cooked and service was effective and friendly. Sometimes slow to top up fruit bowl, yogurts and juices. Great pot of tea! Shower in room really hot and roll top bath a bonus. Enjoyed eating in restaurant, service efficient and well cooked.

1. More attention to keeping cold food refilled (yoghurts etc) at breakfast. 2. Bathroom needed some work (crack in sink, wood around shower crumbling) 3. Did not enjoy sitting in bar area for a quiet drink but had to listen to two men using it as their work place so phones constantly ringing and loud conversations. If this is to be offered to all your guests perhaps you should provide a separate room so that other guests can enjoy the pub experience.

Beautiful room and a lovely hotel, very clean and well appointed.

We had reserved a table for two for dinner. Once seated we waited a full hour for someone to take our order, I gave up and asked the bartender if I could order there. She said yes, but I could pay at the table. The food came in about ten minutes and the two plates were almost tossed at us. No one ever came with a bill so I gave up and approached the bartender again to pay as we'd waited again. I know the restaurant was quite busy but it was truly terrible service.

The staff were amazing, couldn't be more helpful or welcoming, rooms are a good size and well appointed, nice and warm, beds are super comfy and and pillows were really soft, perfect. Towel warmer was bliss.

These are minor things, but the windows and paintwork was a quite worn in places and I couldn't see the breakfast times anywhere on the menus, although I admit I didn't think to check the website so they may be on there, but in all honesty, these are little things. The team at The Cedars more than made up for this, they are some of the best hotel staff I have met. We had to stay an additional night unexpectedly and they looked after us well.

We were allocated 'The Norton' room. It was of a good size allowing us to spread out with our luggage and walking gear. The bed was vast and extremely comfortable. Both room and en-suite were very clean. We liked the sensible way of using the soap and shower gel with fixed squeeze containers that could be refilled (no wastage with mini plastic containers). The breakfasts were excellent with a wide choice of fruit, yoghurts and cereals. A full English., with all the variations one would expect for breakfast were available. It is beneficial to my husband and I to have accommodation with on site dinner facilities as we often return early evening from a day's walking (he also appreciated a welcoming pint). The food on offer is sensibly priced, well presented and tasty, a good range is available too. Over the past six years we have been using many different types of accommodation as we walk the South West Coast Path. The Cedars Inn is one of our favourite stays to date.

Some of the decoration and carpets in the corridors looked a little 'tired', but the rooms and public areas were pleasant and welcoming.

Room was very cosy and not too far from main building decor was modern too will defo be booking again some time in the future 😀 staff were welcoming especially April came and took time to sit with us and talk about our minor issue we had and it was lovely to see they have employed special needs staff too Sam he was great!

The fact that no one informed us of certain foods not being available on the menu until we tried to order then another dish was off the menu and then it was charged on our bill still at the end, but as above April sorted this promptly.
