Amazing location, beautiful rooms very friendly staff. We were originally only staying for 2 nights but added more on as soon as we arrived. The first room we checked into was small but lovely enough for a short trip! When we added more nights on we were very lucky to be offered a free upgrade to a bigger room in their building across the road. The room/building was lovely! Big bathroom, big room and very cosy! No idea what the bad reviews are about, had a fabulous experience here!

Only disappointment was the room never got hoovered. We stayed for 5 days and did a few beach trips which resulted in some sand coming back with us to the hotel room but it was never hoovered which became quite irritating towards the end of our trip as our feet were constantly picking dirt up from the floor every morning/night!

First time we went to a hotel without thorugh investigation and reviews reading. How positively surprised we were. Its character property, we have been given room 11, with stunnig views over the harbour. Bunk bed for kids, with sturdy wooden barriers on top, so we felt safe, and window with a harbour view, and light point, so kids loved it. Our double bed was really comfy, high up, so you could lay in bed watching harbour, even in toilet we had sea view. Everything was clean, although not contemporary but not that long ago renovated, with new silicon all around, and nice shower that my posh wife wasnt afraid to go in to. Downstairs is pub, with seating area in the harbour with views and so close that kids can play in the sand while you have a pint. Location is perfect. So well worth paying extra for parking nearby, because hotel doesnt have parking 9.50 for 24h. Funny thing, seagull wakes you up around 7:30, knocking on the window with his beek. If you ignore him, he will just wait and stare. Haha Oh and there is kettle, with tea and coffe.

Location, very close to the harbour.

We were not in the Britannia but moved to the grand harbour hotel. No atmosphere key access only. Hot water came out of the cold tap, and the hair dryer was attached to the wall with a short lead that did not reach to any electric plug. The kettle had to be plugged into a plug next to the bed. It was very impersonal no body around to discuss problems.

Everything. The room had everything I needed for a one night stay. The views over the harbour are breathtaking. You can’t physically get any closer!! I spent most my stay sat in the comfortable chairs in the bay window taking in the view. Our room had a very comfortable four poster bed.great night sleep. Pmenty of clean white fluffy towels available. If you like period looking furniture and quaintnesses then it’s one for you. If you like ultra modern then maybe not the place for you. I personally loved everything about the room and location can’t be beaten in my eyes.

Nothing. Can’t wait to come back.

great location in the village right by the harbour

The room was listed as 'Small' but we thought it was spacious, with decent storage, comfortable bed, good shower room with plenty of hot water, good TV, Wifi worked well, hotel location excellent, convenient parking that was reasonably priced (we saw that from Nov on it was particularly cheap) and all the staff we met were friendly and efficient - simply perfect for what we wanted, and actually exceeded our expectations - we will return, and we totally recommend.

The bedroom and bed were amazing.Loved the table and chairs in the bay window.Loved the view of harbour.Very nice room and bed.Very helpful, friendly Receptionist.Good cooked breakfast.

The breakfast things were next to the kitchen not very attractively laid out and cutlery in a different place.Orange juice straight out of box which ran out.However,everything was there and bread (straight out of bag) was nice.

The location was amazing and hotel was very welcoming the room was clean and very comfortable the view was Beautiful with the Harbour views.

For the price we paid I think breakfast could of been included and we was on top of the back door that every time anyone went out it slammed shut with a bang and with a lot of people going out to drink or smoke the door was Constantly banging and shaking the room.

The drive there was wild, wet and windy. It was quite late and dark. Eventually I found myself driving really slowly down windy narrow lanes into Ilfracombe. The postcode took me directly too a very convenient car park. The hotel had a nice bar with Doom Bar on tap. The room was just right. I had to leave early for my work in Barnstaple so missed breakfast. Luckily there was a Wetherspoons in Barnstaple to the rescue. I think I will book in again for a quiet few days soon.

Received an upgrade which was very nice , Thought the sky TV package was a bonus and the room looked as if it had been refitted and decorated

Mattress was to soft for myself , Four poster bed creaked every time I moved however I suppose that's normal for a wooden four poster , Shower looked brand new and pressure was excellent however the water drains away very slowly so the shower tray nearly overflowed, might be worth checking this problem out to save any accidents . View over the Harbour was not too clever as the windows need a good clean , however it is mid winter and I noticed scaffolding positioned on the outside so I suspect that refurbishing work is ongoing and on completion come the spring the windows will be cleaned up . Breakfast very good , however would prefer boiling water for my tea and not half boiled out of a machine . On the whole a very good stay and room and would definitely stay again
