We were placed in the Admiral’s Inn guest house where there was no breakfast room. However, there was a small fridge in the room, which was an added bonus, where we were able to keep our own breakfast bits. The shower was on a huge base, allowing plenty of manoeuvring, but the electronic water control made water flow and temperature control quite difficult.(Water was either full on, or full off and the smallest of thermostat movements made the water very hot, or very cold).

The TV hand controller wouldn’t work, so the main hotel manager changed the cells, but it still didn’t work. Happily, on the 2nd day, the housekeeper explained that the TV had to be taken out of standby using the button hidden on the side of the TV, after which the channels could be selected using the hand controller. But, the TV had to be switched off using the standby button on the side of the TV, because the hand controller on/off button didn’t work. The main hotel dinner menu was good, but the hotel became very crowded quite quickly and the background music was fairly loud and monotonous, but possibly OK for someone used to summer in Ibiza.

It’s a beautiful building, the garden space was great too

I wish someone had told us we needed our key to get in the building after hours luckily the staff was having a lockin drink party after work so we could get in the building, we didn’t want to take our key with us as going to reading festival and didn’t want to lose it but when we gained entry a smart Alex girl commented we are closed …. Excuse me I’m staying at the pub another staff member with longer hair was very apologetic at her attitude towards us

The room was spacious and clean, beds were clean and comfy, TV and tea/coffee in room, nice view, for the price,it was perfectly acceptable. No breakfast was a bit of a blow, as we'd traveled from Scotland. The room was a little cold, due to the high ceilings, but a second heater was supplied. The bathroom was a challenge...very strange but clean and functional. All in all a pleasant stay, but what made it was the staff. Absoluely fantastic! Friendly, welcoming, helpful, accommodating, and good fun...Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

Fantastic value for money. Great location for my stay being just a few miles away from my Reading office and ideally situated for my following days meetings in Central London. Bar food really great choice and again brilliant value. Basic room but clean and comfy single bed ideal as a crash pad. I'll certainly use this hotel throughout the winter nights when weather changes as current cost equals my commute Fuel cost but saves 2 plus hours commute drive.

Bar music was a tad too loud as my room (2) right above and outside lights in the beer garden also on until 11.00 but I've no other niggle.

It’s a beautiful building but the stairwell and the carpet definitely needs attention, grubby marks up the walls holes in staircase carpet very uncomfortable beds in room 5 to the point I had bruising from the pressure

The attitude of the member of staff after hours , we interrupted their lock-in party to let us in as we had left our key at reception so we didn’t lose it but we wasn’t told there might be no one to let us in

I loved the view and location The staff were very friendly

There could have been a fan in the room . The weather was very hot , the windows did not open enough to get good fresh air in . This meant I was unable to rest easily and had to go outside to cook down . I asked a member of staff if they had a small fan. I was only staying one night . Staff said he would ask hotel owner however I never received my fan .

It was great value. Basic but clean and comfortable.

The bed was very soft and bouncy but with springs that poked you. There was black mold around the windows. The bathroom was so small I could harldy fit myself into it and getting a reasonable temperature on the shower was like cracking a safe. But at £45 /night I'm not complaining, great value! 😀

We originally booked into the Admiral Cunningham Hotel for an overnight Saturday stay and had a lunch there before depositing our bags in the room. Firstly an extremely kind gentleman helped us old fogies choose our meal as ordering was supposed to be only by an app which we hadn't a clue how to use. Secondly another extremely kind gentleman moved us into a quiet part of the hotel for eating as there was quite a noisy private party taking place outside. Whilst eating the good, very reasonably priced meal, the same gentleman came and informed us that he was swapping our accommodation in the hotel to the Admiral Inn, a few hundred yards away which was much quieter. We found this to be perfect. It was in a lovely, quiet area with a very spacious room and bathroom, kettle, microwave, fridge, television and two comfortable twin beds, we couldn't have wished for anything more, especially at the price. We had a brilliant night's sleep and wish to thank all the staff involved (sorry we didn't take any names) for their help and kindness. We would definitely recommend the Admiral Inn for value for money to anyone for an overnight or longer stay.

The fan in the bathroom was on constantly even though we tried everything we could to stop it, obviously needs some attention.
