We actually stayed at sister hotel Arundel House Hotel, so this review applies to that hotel (not Ashley). The hotel has over 100 rooms and was much more a 'Hotel' than a guest house in terms of facilities, standards, staffing. Our room was clean and comfortable, the check-in was efficient, key card for room and corridors leading to rooms for extra security. Breakfast was continental (£12.50 extra for cooked English breakfast), but plentiful and very good. Car parking was ample and free as we had booked under Ashley hotel (£15 if you book under Arundel House though!). Nicely located across road from river, only 15 minute walk across parklands into city centre (e.g. Red Lion Square, Market, Corn Exchange), 20 minutes to Grafton Centre.

Unclear whether we had continental or English breakfast included in our room rate until we actually asked in restaurant. Could explain more clearly in description. Nonetheless the continental breakfast was excellent.

My husband and I were traveling with our adult daughter, and shared a 3 person family room. Our hotel was actually the Arundel, not the Ashley. It worked very well as the room was spacious enough for 3 people and their luggage, and was nice to have seating room in addition to the beds. The full English breakfast option each morning was a major enticement for booking. In-room tea, coffee, and biscuits service was an added bonus! Location was fantastic for our needs as we didn't have a car, but could easily walk to most of the destinations we wanted to visit while in Cambridge. There were also many restaurants, coffee shops, the University, and even a grocery store all within walking distance.

Bathroom space was a bit cramped, and the climate control system was lacking AC and it was still rather warm a few of the days. With only a heavy duvet on the bed and no sheet, it didn't make for the most comfortable sleeping on a couple of the nights. Even including a sheet so you have a lightweight cover besides the duvet would be good!

The breakfast was very adequate and apart from the rather exhausting staircases and doors that tended to close heavily on the bedrooms we felt private and protected. The restaurant is an attractive and light space and felt convivial and unrushed. Altogether we were surprised to have been directed to a venue that is architecturally attractive and with a welcoming ambience that for weary travellers was most welcome. Thank you for your gentle service

To make it better would require major structural changes to create a grand central staircase with all rooms accessed from that point. In other words a similar generosity of space that has been created below ground

I was informed that my booking was transferred to their sister hotel - Arundel House Hotel. I had an exceptional experience there with my daughter. The hotel’s location was excellent, right next to the big park and river, 12min walk away from the city centre. The room was clean, spacious, quiet, free parking, friendly staff, service was a top notch and excellent breakfast and dinner! We really enjoyed our stay and I will definitely stay again at Arundel hotel if I come back to Cambridge for a short stay.

Everything was perfect, nothing to complain.

The breakfast was very good, decent vegetarian options for me and my partner and was fast enough so we could have it before our days out. The room was superb. The decor was a little dated but still in amazing condition. The room had clearly been cleaned thoroughly; bed sheets were spotless and all the surfaces had been wiped dustless. There were coffee and tea provided in the room which was a very thoughtful touch and the room never felt cramped. The water pressure nearly knocked me over in the shower which is amazing considering hotels typically have poor bathrooms but our ensuite was perfect. All staff were friendly and eager to help with any questions asked, lovely place.

Not a lot to say on the negatives side. The furniture style was a little old but still in mint condition. We were woken up on our second morning by a staff member attempting to enter the room. I think she had thought we left as was going to clean it, an honest mistake that was easily forgivable.

3 friends, stayed in double+single room. Car parking at Ashley Hotel for free Reception & Check in in the Hotel. Easy check in, room spacious, a little bit dated but fully working & beds were comfy. It was perfect for us, we didn’t stay in the room much anyway. Quiet location & around 25 min walk to Town ( The very centre, Mathematical Bridge) a very nice walk. Breakfast in the morning was tasty too, a bit of continental with full English. Overall, happy with it.

If I was to be picky, the shower/bath was a bit outdated. But it worked & did the job. Also, the hairdryer needs updating. Personally I brought my own but the one in the room is ancient. I think the only thing they could do would be replaced the windows but the temperature in the hotel/room was ok, so no bother. Overall, no issues at all.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good too. Once we'd found our bearings the town centre was only about a twenty minute, very pleasant walk across the bridge and Jesus Green. Don't be put off by the slightly shabby exterior. Inside it really is fine!! We were very pleasantly surprised.

The decor is very dated like an 80's old people's home but it is nevertheless clean and comfortable. There was an old alarm clock radio in our room that needs to be taken out. It just looks so old and who would use it? There weren't even any hands on the clock!! Get rid of it.

I booked into the Ashley Hotel but I was transferred to Arundel House Hotel so this isn't a review for Ashley and I can't comment on that hotel. The Arundel met all my expectations. The location was perfect for visiting the city. Car park is easily accessible. Bed was comfortable. Hot water in the bathroom was plentiful.

With experience of professional cleaning I noticed that the rooms weren't as clean as they should be. This really should be improved. There were crumbs on the bedroom table. The dressing table mirror was smeary and the bathroom had layers of dust in places. The bathrooms need to be upgraded but they were perfectly adequate. There was a strange noise in the walls on Sunday evening. Water pipes? A creature in the wall?

We booked to stay at Ashley House, but were transferred to Arundel House, as it is the company's sister hotel. Arundel House is a beautiful old-fashioned hotel in the Edwardian style only a few minutes' walk from the river Cam and the centre of Cambridge. Our room was huge and overlooked the river. We also had a huge bathroom. The cooked breakfast was faultless and the breakfast staff were very helpful. The staff at reception were also really helpful and friendly. The hotel in general had a real old-fashioned charm about it and the reception rooms were splendid. Additionally, as a compensation for being moved from Ashley House, we were given free parking until 9 pm on our day of departure. Overall, I could not fault the place and I hope the hotel will have rooms available when we next visit Cambridge. Thanks again to all the staff for a wonderful stay.

Tell the truth my review is made about Arundel Hotel (sister hotel), where we came to pick up the keys. They told us that we will stay at Arundel hotel and I was upset that it probably not gonna be as we expected. . But then I was not disappointed at all. The hotel is bigger and closer to the center. Room was really big and perfect ( exceeded my expectations). Breakfast was excellent, the sizes of the room and bathroom were really great. We had really comfortable stay. Hotel is really close to the center but it's located near the river and park in a very quite area

A the first moment I didn't like the idea that they wanted to give us room in a different hotel, but it turned out that we really enjoyed our stay at Arundel hotel.
