Separate cottages on the hotel grounds are a great idea. Amazing garden! Pictures do not do any justice to how lovely the garden is. Staff was very helpful and available for us. Great family stay.

There are great and less great cottages. We have been unfortunately allocated the one which was so close to hotel that we basically had a view from windows on a wall of hotel few inches away and no direct access to garden (we had access but had to go round cottage to it). But we have seen cottages with their front door opening to beautiful hotel garden, with privacy and lovely views.

It's a beautiful old Victorian building. I chose it because I went to school here 60 years ago! Watch out for room 7 though, the headmaster use to cane us in there. The bedroom was a good size, clean & comfortable. There was a lovely lounge & lovely breakfast room, looking out onto a lovely garden. Breakfast was of a high standard & served promptly. Staff were also very nice. Very quiet too with enough parking space. Well this was March. It may be busy & more expensice in the warmer months?

Well the old sash windows are a bit draughty! But the heating was good. Maybe the building is listed. Would have preferred a shower to a bath but that's fine. Note that the Bookin.com website says 'shared bathroom' which was confusing. The hotel assured me that all bathrooms are private

Amazing place, stay that one would remember. Very nice garden. The cottage has everything one might need for a short stay.

Kitchen was well equipped but few really simple things were missing. Like salt. It is so cheap for the hotel to put a pack of salt for the guests. This is really something nobody thinks about packing in their suitcase… Or plastic pot to remove water from pasta. These are minor issues of course. The only thing I didn’t like was air quality in the cottage. Maybe it’s just high humidity in England in general, but when combined with an old house and somehow not very well ventilating windows, it creates heaviness to the air.

The hotel is lovely and gives a proper Victorian feeling. It is dog friendly which is a plus. My little dog Lenny was welcome and even given a sausage on check out day. The staff was very helpful and polite. It was very clean and the room was beautiful and quiet despite being near reception. I'd love to be back one day. The breakfast was also very generous. Lovely hotel and would defenitely recommend

Nothing at all! It's a good 10/15 mins walk from the center, so ideal for peace and quiet. If you want to party maybe a more central hotel would be ideal. I personally loved the quietness!

A charming building set in beautiful gardens. Our apartment was much bigger than expected. The kitchen was excellent, practical, well provisioned. The rest of the apartment was a little worn, but comfortable. The location is excellent - close to everything and lots of on site parking. We chose Ebury mostly because they are dog friendly. Our pooches loved the gardens and we were delighted with the hotel's quirkiness.

There really wasn't anything we specifically disliked. Perhaps the bedding. I think it was a standard double duvet on an extra wide bed.

Perfect location to visit Canterbury - walking distance from city center (approx 10 min walk) and free parking on premises. Great breakfast options, although you are requested to place your order the evening in advance. Staff was very helpful in finding a solution when our first night was not good.

Room 11 (our first night) had a terrible bed with hard springs. For nights 2 and 3 we stayed in room 10, much better bed. Also not that there is no walk-in shower and no hook on the wall to hang shower head. Finally, note that hotel has no lift.

The location was fantastic, just a short walk into the city centre. There was also plenty of parking, allowing us to leave the car parked up for our entire visit. The beds were comfy and the entire apartment, although a little dated, was very clean and comfortable.

It took us a while to work out how to use the oven on the first evening. There were no instructions on what power switches to turn on and the oven would not heat unless the clock was set. It took a while but we managed it in the end, but some instructions would have been nice. Also, the boiler in the upstairs bedroom ran constantly. This was only an issue at night as was barely audible during the busier day.

I have stayed at the Ebury before and enjoyed myself thoroughly therefore I wanted to come back for my birthday. The staff are so kind and accommodating.A member of the team bought myself and my gentleman friend a drink in the bar to celebrate my birthday. They also provided me with champagne flutes to celebrate my birthday in my room. The breakfast was superb with a wide range of choices including plant based milks for drinking and for cereal. The rooms are so beautiful and cosy.I look forward to coming back soon as there is a family atmosphere at this hotel and it is so welcoming and in a brilliant location for the town centre. Lucky with the weather, I arrived with a backpack and a small dog a few mins before check in. It was easy to access the room located on the first floor inside the main building. Excellent room with the greatest view out to the well maintained garden. What a scenario! Interior amazingly decorated, with hand carved wood details on furniture, big bathroom with a bathtub and a shower turn off the radiator. City center within easy walking distance. Private key to room. I had a great nights sleep and woke up by dawn. I prepared a cup of hot coffee in the room with the provided electric water kettle and instant coffee. Breakfast was served voluntarily by the bar, as I wanted to bring my dog with me. Most of the visitors had brought their furry little friend with them. There was a queue in the kitchen and the breakfast was too late. However I had a simple outdoor breakfast on the stairs of Kent's engine house and Canterbury theatre, watching the guided tours passing by. Canterbury West station is easily reached by foot from city center.

What a great place, there is no dislikes.

the location is excellent (15 mins walk from the town centre) We had a very peaceful stay because our room was at the back of the property overlooking the huge gardens, a lovely morning view too! plenty of parking. it’s a lovely hotel, the decor is tired but nice Victorian proportions. The room/bathroom was dated but clean and the sheets/towels were immaculate white. Breakfast is served in a tired but very pretty dining room with crisp white table linen. A lovely choice of continental foods, and hot food served to order. We will definitely return.

We stopped in the small bar for a nightcap at around 10pm. We were told it closed at 11pm, but approx 10.45pm the duty receptionist closed everything down and promptly turned the music off. A rather big “I want you to leave” gesture! we thought it rude, but were amused by his behaviour so no harm done. Just a shame to get this impression from out first stay.
