I stayed in Canterbury to visit my 94 year old mother in a nearby nursing home. Being given the Marlow room was excellent with a comfortable bed. (I was warned about early morning rubbish collectors for glass on Wednesdays right outside the window but I am an early riser: morning walks by the Stour began right outside the hotel door). Breakfasts with freshly baked croissants were very good. The only caveat was the morning coffee. I prefer to drink Latte and the breakfast coffee was str8forward drip. However, the High Street offers many Latte vendors open early so no problems there. Final plus was the kindness of hotel staff to do my small amount of laundry several times. (I am a light traveller: no large suitcases).

The morning coffee; I prefer espresso and lattes to drip coffee (see above).

Ideally situated in the centre of Canterbury, next door to the Marlowe Theatre. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were very clean. Our room was facing the High Street which could be noisy. The secondary glazing almost elimated the noise which but this did make the room a little warm(although there was a fan). But what do you expect from a room in the centre of a busy tourist area? The continental breakfast was fresh and varied and more than enough to set yourself up for the day. All in all very impressed and we plan to return for longer with friends.

The bedroom was a bit warm if the secondary glazing was closed to eliminate noise from the High Street. There was a fan but perhaps an air con unit? I think there were only 2 rooms with this situation so perhaps not an issue with the other rooms.

This is one of the best hotel I’ve stayed in. Such a beautiful building, very clean, in the middle of Canterbury, near historical buildings of great importance such as the amazing Cathedral, and everywhere around you there are shops, restaurants and a beautiful park with a little river. This is such a great location. The staff was very friendly and helpful and made me feel quite at home. Breakfast was very good. Should I come back to Canterbury I would definitely stay here again. Thank you guys for everything. I had a very lovely time in Canterbury. Cheers!

I loved the quirky character of the Pilgrims Hotel. It was spotlessly clean The friendliness of staff. The excellent positon in the middle of the city. Easy walking distance to 2 train and the bus station. Fantastic continental breakfast. All these plus points made for a very enjoyable 4 night break. I would not hesitate to recommend or go again myself to The Pilgrims Hotel . 100% Great place to stay..

The only negatives were that the pillows were a little too solid for me and the steep, narrow stairs are deffo not for the less agile guest.

The location to the theatre was superb - literally opposite. The hotel is just round the corner from the main shopping area where there is lots of choices of restaurants. The man who checked us in, helped us with parking arrangements, served us at breakfast and checked us out was incredibly helpful and professional. Credit to the hotel. Simple continental breakfast which was more than adequate. Rooms had tea making facilities and although a not massive, the room and bathroom were fine for our stay. Would definitely book again.

Nothing - it was all as expected the the member of staff was superb

The hotel is very convenient for Canterbury town centre. It is located opposite the Marlowe Theatre. We were able to leave luggage after checking out. The reception staff were very helpful and pleasant. The rooms were well presented and the beds were comfortable. Wifi was good throughout. The en-suite bathrooms were very good. Breakfast was very good and nicely served in a light and pleasant space dining room (the former bar). I would stay again.

There is no parking at the hotel and the public car parking for Canterbury is quite expensive. Car parks are a 10 minute walk away. Access to the hotel by car for dropping off luggage was tricky due the city council bollard controls on the road and a one way system. Ask ahead about access, it is possible and ok, once you know how!! There is no longer a public bar but there are plenty near-by. A few drinks are available for guests but they are pricey. There is no food served in the evening but there are plenty of options very near by.

Staff were super helpful and friendly, much appreciated! Great location, although can be tricky to reach and unload luggage by car - but we appreciated the hotel's arranging discounted parking nearby. Very well placed for exploring Canterbury and the local area (the Cathedral, always superb; the Franciscan gardens, a hidden gem) - and although so central, blessedly quiet at night. Plenty of choice for breakfast, and I noticed staff making a particular effort to help another guest with allergy concerns - very considerate.

More or less everything; the points below are relatively minor ones.

We couldn't find any TV stations in our room. Not serious, hence still excellent; just a niggle. Parking (St Radicunds) is 5-8 or so minutes' walk away but, although not that cheap, it's all ANPR (payable on leaving), no tickets, so if you park at say 7 in the evening, it automatically goes on to night rate then back again for the morning rate - ie. you wouldn't have to go back to your car for a top up before breakfast! No lift, but our host carried up both of our cases to the 2nd floor.

Excellent central location. We prefer English breakfast so, for us, the continental breakfast was adequate. We booked two bedrooms: One double room which was large and very nice. The single bedroom was cosy and agreeable. Hotel faces the Marlowe Theatre, so there are people out in the street until about 11:00 pm, which makes it safer in the evenings.

The single bedroom had a sloping ceiling above the bathtub. The member of the family that stayed in this room was afraid to bump her head when standing in the bath.
