Hilton Garden Inn Doncaster Racecourse

I stayed and the hotel from Wednesday 12th July until the following Monday 17th. i have certain mental health issues where I can get anxious, panicky and muddle up in certain situations but the staff [ as I expected, as I had stayed there back in 2019 and had a really good stay then] were so thoughtful and patient with me, giving me enough and when needed just that bit extra time to explain what I needed or wanted, checking that everything was ok and going out of their way to make doing the things I wanted to to get to where I wanted to go as easy as possible. They were so attentive without stepping too far into my personal space and time and for this, as a person with the aforementioned issues, this is mark or a well run hotel to me, one where the staff are mindful that just because an issue isnt visible , it does not mean it is not there. My room was serviced to the utmost standard every day and the housekeeping girl very friendly and helpful in providing me with extra bags for rubbish when I needed them. The food, well the food was great and loved the chefs cheesecake, you need to go just for that! I was there in order to attend a craft show but because of it nearness to not only the racecourse where the show was but for people whose legs co operated more than mine, it is an excellent location for the local asda , Dome Leisure centre and a bit further Lakeside outlet village and lake area which is a lovely place to visit. I have already recommended the hotel to several friends who are thinking of attending the show next year as well as several other who go to certain events in the area. I will most definitely be booking when sorting out arrangements for next year. A hotel well worth is salt, and then some!

The bed seemed a little hard but that couldve just been me and my physical health issues thinking it was. There is nothing I didnt really like.

Really comfy beds and air con was amazing. Friendly staff, easy to find. Secure car park. Shower was lovely and clean. One double and a sofa bed but still had room to move around. And the mini fridge kept our drinks lovely and cold!

We booked a family room, on arrival there was only one bed made for 2. The other a sofa bed, we had to call reception to have them come and make the bed for us as we arrived, this was unnecessary. The TV didn't have many channels, nor ways to connect your phone I.e. screenshare so you couldn't watch anything other than on your phone or on one of the very few channels that actually worked. The mirror at the vanity table was set way too high meaning the chair provided was rendered pointless as you couldn't use it to get ready, take a mirror if you want to sit down to get ready!

Receptionist seemed her focus was not on us seemed elsewhere. Not listening to us . I.e told her I had no car arrived by train then taxi but still got charge for car parking for two days .when checking out I pointed this out we had no car and asked for taxi to train station the guy on reception when checking out said he would remove £10 charge .I fear this could be common practice with check in guests .also she asked how many keys we needed I said one gave us two and the code for car park barrier I had no car .another example of not listening just not focused on job Reception need to concentrate on customer service

The location is close to the racecourse, the breakfast is good, the rooms are clean and tidy.

The tissues are all in the bathroom. The funny thing is that when I took two tissues out of the toilet, the box was emptied. Although there is still toilet paper available, it is clear that toilet paper is not suitable for wiping mouth. The staff should check the amount of paper towels in the box before guests check in. In addition to the above paper towel margin problem, the shower gel also encountered the same problem. When I took a shower, I found that the shower gel provided was only a little bit after pressing for a long time, which was not enough for me to use. The staff did not check the remaining amount in advance. It was at midnight, so I did not call the customer service, but this experience made me feel inconvenient.

Room was spacious and we had a view of the horse racing track, if that’s your thing. We weren’t there for the track - purely for work. Big and comfortable bed and modern looking bathroom with a big walk in shower (but see below). Breakfast was pretty good too. We also had dinner which was actually very good as well. Overall it was a good stay

So despite the bathroom being all modern with the large walk in shower being the main feature, really annoyingly, we had almost no water pressure. So despite it all looking good, the shower was less of a rain shower and more of a drizzle. What a let down! And the pillows were those dreadful things that just disappear when you put your head on them, offering absolutely no support. Real shame that those 2 things let down what is actually a pretty good hotel

Everything was excellent. We were given a room which was for disabled people and it was ideal for me as I was recovering from a badly broken ankle and couldn't use an ordinary shower. We didn't ask for this particular room but it was perfect. The meals were very good with plenty of choice and reasonably priced and the inclusive breakfast had plenty of options. The staff in all areas were pleasant and helpful with smiles all round. The rooms were well cleaned every day with fresh towels in the bathroom..

There was nothing at all I disliked.

Staff are lovely, the room was very clean, it had a TV, excellent hanging space in the wardrobe, The bathroom had a big bath, very hot water, good power in the shower and lots of shampoo and shower gel. The room was a good temperature and also had aircon and heating available. The room and all areas of the hotel was exceptionally clean. The buffet breakfast was only £15 pp and there was a selection on fruit, pastries, cooked food, cereal, toast, a waffle maker, and juices. Extra pillows provided when requested and they have a little snack area with crisps, sweets, chocolate and nuts. They also have the facilities for tea, coffee , soft drinks and alcoholic drinks in the snack area. Excellent value for money.

Very clean, modern hotel - I stay here often for work and I am always very comfortable. Lovely modern rooms with exceptional views of the race grounds. Very comfortable beds and the hotel and rooms are always spotless

I’ve noticed a few times they there are guests who get complimentary bottles of water and those who don’t. Gentlemen ahead of me checking in always get asked if they would like water in their room, I never get offered or asked if I would like water. The gesture made by the receptionists to these other “superior” guests is always made obviously, so it’s a little annoying I never get asked or offered the same service!! Hence the lower score - I am even a Hiltons Member and still no water 🙈

Mu husband and I stayed here for 1 night in a king room as we were going to the Cast Theatre in town which is only a 7 minute drive away. Our room was very nice with a fantastic view over the racecourse. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was lovely and hot but just a standard head rather than a monsoon one. There was a fridge in the room but because we are not members of the Hilton Rewards Club they didn't provide any bottles of water, there was a card in the fridge stating that refreshments can be purchased in the lobby. There wasn't a coffee machine just a very basic tray with one choice of tea, decaff and normal coffee but no biscuits! We ordered room service before we went out two burgers, chips and coleslaw and it was delicious, we both agreed the chips were the best we have ever had, we noticed room service was only available between 5 and 9pm. Breakfast was fantastic, couldn't fault it, a huge selection of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts, dried fruit, meat and cheese, pastries, bread, crumpets, waffles and a full English all serve yourself and the chef was really friendly. We had a lovely stay and if we are ever going to the theatre again we would definitely stay here if the races were not on as it was lovely.

The fact that if you are not a rewards member you don't even get bottled water in the room.

The breakfast was good although varieties were limited and some of the food you had to wait for refills which meant as I was in a hurry would end up missing things like fried eggs should be replaced not to wait for it be cooked as it will have run out.

The hotel itself was good but the parking facilities were a nightmare. No parking at all. You would think for such a hotel it’s something that you need to be pre-warned so you can make a decision whether to book that hotel or choose one where parking facilities can be easily accessible.
