Owston Hall Hotel

The best thing was the food. The food was excellent quality and so tasty, I enjoyed all my meals there. The front of house staff were also lovely, friendliest service I have had in a long time. Even when it was busy and stressful, they still maintained a smile and were so polite.

My room was absolutely roasting, especially on the first night. However, I asked for a fan on the second morning I was there and they provided me with one in ten minutes, and the fan made such a difference to the last two nights.

A beautiful hotel in a really lovely setting. Large comfy room, nice lounges and breakfast room/conservatory. The food was absolutely delicious.

When we arrived it was in total chaos in the foyer with a wedding party going on and guests everywhere.. We had to wait quite a while for anyone to come to reception. We didn't mind the fact there was a wedding (although we weren't informed when we booked) but it did affect the service in the evening. We had booked a table in the dog friendly bar area for dinner but ended up just queuing for ages at the bar to order food as the staff were just rushing about tending to wedding guests. The food was amazing when we finally got it.

Beautiful hotel for the last night of our honeymoon. Dinner was exceptional! We’ve eaten great food food but this was the best! We chose an executive double which was worth the extra money as it was spacious with a lovely bathroom. The toiletries smelt amazing and the big bath towel was sheer luxury! There was an iron and an ironing board hidden in the wardrobe so I could quickly remove the creases from my dress before dinner. Just perfect! The staff were lovely-especially our waiter at dinner who was so friendly and helpful.

No pastries at breakfast! But not a problem really as there was lots of lovely food!

The room was spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable and the hotel was so quiet - we had a brilliant sleep. The bathroom was lovely in Castle Howard room and it had all been recently refurbished so it was a lovely room.

There was no information in the room about room service or wifi so I am not sure if these were even available. The window had been painted shut so it was quite warm at night. It would have been nice to have a couple of chairs in the room to sit on.

A lovely welcome and a very comfortable bed. The food in the evening and at breakfast was fabulous. The staff at reception and in the bar and restaurant were very friendly.

Only a tiny thing…Paper cups in the room for tea and coffee. Only 1 set so had to wash them up for our morning cuppa!

The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room and bathroom was well furnished and a good size. We had a meal in the restaurant at night and it was good that you could mix the bar meals with the A La Carte. The portions were large and nicely presented. The whole place had a relaxed feeling and it was lovely watching the golfers tee off from just outside the hotel. We got a good deal using Booking.com - saved £38 compared to booking direct.

There were little things that could be improved - on my bedside table was a telephone that I had to move to the ground to make room for my clock and kindle. Breakfast was good but I don’t expect to make my own tea, I would much prefer a pot of tea on the table, I also noticed that there was no red or brown sauce available. I also noticed that there was no salt and pepper on the table. These are little niggles that definitely didn’t spoil our stay.

I travel a lot and this was one of my best stays with my pet. The staff were so attentive and friendly it made my stay even more pleasurable. My pet had a nice green area to take a constitutional and was allowed in the carpeted bar area which was comfortable and relaxing for my pet. The reception rooms were nicely decorated keeping a lot of period features and the seating was comfortable. The bedroom and bathroom were modern clean and very spacious. The supplied toiletries had a very pleasant perfume and I especially liked the bathroom shelf allowing for plenty of room for personal toiletries. The TV was big and easy to use, bonus. The breakfast selection was adequate, but dinner was amazing. I had a very tasty dish of Noisette of Lamb with French peas.

No bottled water in the room. I don't like fixed head showers. For such a spacious room the tea and coffee facility were tidily tucked into a small side of the dark wardrobe making it fiddly. I do think hotels should have a small rubbish caddy for for tea stuff, near the facility.

Lovely big room which was great because we had our large dog and crate with us at the time - it was clean, super kingsize bed was very comfortable and the coffee provided in the room was really good. Arrived Sunday evening and invited to order dinner swiftly as kitchen was closing soon. Food and wine were delicious, no bother with extra sides at last minute, served by friendly staff. Saw the grounds in daylight the following morning and they were gorgeous, lots of renovations going on so would definitely return here in future. Thank you.

The room was exceptional. The restaurant food was wonderful and the price was a real shock we have paid far more in cafes. What was a bonus for us, we have 2 little Maltese dogs. Dogs were made very welcome, even a separate dining room was provided for dog owners, so you were never made uncomfortable by other quests. we will certainly be booking again when we are in the area.

There was nothing about the hotel we didn't like. The only thing I found was finding the hotel, from the A19 taking a left turn at a sign for Owston Hall, then nothing of any consequence except a bed and 2 golf flags. You could do with having a very nice Owston Hall and Golf Course sign erected. It would make it far easier for visitors

Management was absolutely fantastic we had abit of a issue with one of the night staff ( we were made to feel like we didn't fit in) but raised the issue the following morning with Management and was made to feel completely at ease by Sean (I believe he was Management) he assured us that we was not the issue and sincerely apologised on behalf of the member if staff. Overall a beautiful place the grounds was spectacular the whole experience was amazing. And we are looking forward to returning again in the future
