Holiday Inn Dover, an IHG Hotel

The staff far exceeded our expectations. They bent over backwards to assist us with every request. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the food was excellent. Martin at the front desk was so patient with us. The chef offered a variety of personal options to make sure we fully enjoyed our meals.

It is a little bit far from the train station, shops and eateries, so guests should plan for taxis. One of our parties was also in an accessible room, which resulted in the floor constantly being wet. **However, they were very full and were squeezing us in. We were very thankful to have the rooms!!**

Staff were friendly and professional - everyone - i.e. front of house, management and catering team were excellent Range of breakfast items were excellent - Family really enjoyed personalised tasty dishes made by chef Bella Italia dinner was good; Really happy that the hotel chef was able to offer alternative delicious personalised dish to my dietary requirements which the restaurant could not offer Nice sized family room with table, comfy sofa with footstool and lots of storage/workspace, TV worked, air con/heating was good

Our Room - Carpet was a little wet possibly from cleaning after last guest. Overthrow bedding and cushions were stained so we immediately removed them off the bed. There were only 2 towels for our family of 4 - however the team swiftly gave us two more upon request. I had to ask for replacement toilet rolls as one of the ones in the bathroom were soggy when we arrived; Not the best ventilation system for bathroom. There were no complimentary water bottles as per our normal hotel experience so we bought some, though there were complimentary bottles at breakfast. It was just one night stay so was ok

Staff were all lovely, polite and friendly, reception, bar and restaurant area and cleaning staff. Very clean and room refreshed every day. Great location for our stay and plenty of free parking. Great breakfast with poached and fried eggs cooked on request, ate in the hotel on 3 evenings of a 5 night stay, food was good, nice selection and reasonably priced.

Bathroom a little small due to sink being just inside the door so have to fully open the door to pass the sink and close the door behind you

Since the refurbishment when this hotel became a Holiday Inn the bedroom designs/layout are lovely and the bed very comfortable.

The room was quite dusty with marks on the furniture where it hadn't been cleaned properly. While money has been spent upgrading the bedrooms and the hotels public areas, it's clear the bathrooms haven't been touched in years and it's a shame they weren't refurbished as well. The towels were very clearly old and were very rough. I didn't feel all this was worth £130 just for room only. I would stay again but only if there was a cheaper price.

This is a perfect location for an early morning ferry to France. We used it often when it was a Ramada but when it became a Holiday Inn the price was such that it was better to stay home and start early. As we got.a decent price this time it was worth going back and we found massive changes. New restaurants, new bars and rooms refurbished to a high standard. I still like the old bar although it was getting a bit tired but the new one is larger with a greater choice of relaxing seating. When we checked in we were told the breakfast which was included started at 6:30. A good early start but still too late for us and when I said we would pay at check in as we would leave at 6 we were offered a carry out breakfast. A really nice touch but when we got it I was missing the promised croissant and had fruit which I asked to be left out. The bottle of orange was a useful wake me up though.

The first thing we found with the room was that it was freezing cold and whatever we did with the complex heating control it made no difference and no instructions provided for the controller. As it was late and did not want to have to get staff involved we just ran the hair dryer for a while which took the chill off. We also found the room rather crowded with two double beds and soon found that to get them both in the room the beds were rather small. We both commented in the morning that we wished we had taken a bed each.

Clean, friendly service in the restaurant and breakfast was amazing. Staff were helpful and assisted with getting the kids what they needed.

Poor lighting in the parking area made it difficult to unpack car in the evening. I lost half a pair of Sandals I noted once I got home the next day. Gentleman at the desk had a mask on and he sounded so muffled I had to ask him to repeat quite a few times which when tired after a long drive and ferry trip from France was very frustrating. He obviously has alot of rights to wear a mask I just found it very hard to understand him.

The rooms were nice, clean and comfortable The evening food was very good - The best "Club Sandwich EVER" - Compliments to the chef as you could see the meal was constructed with lots or care and attention - Thank you Chef! The breakfast was very, very good, well stocked and well laid out. Plenty of choice....

Checking in was a little frustrating, but the guys behind the counter had really good attitudes and handled the situation well. (we had pre-paid for breakfast - but that wasn't showing up)... however they managed to rectify with no major issues.

I really appreciate the professionalism of the receptionist. When i arrived for my stay I got to find out that i have wrongly booked different day and luckily the receptionist was able to help us with booking another room and upgrading us to better room. Unfortunately the receptionist was unable to change the dates from my booking and i had to pay again but the money i pay for the first booking was able to claim from the costumer service even though there was a cancellation fee that they kindly didn’t charge me.

Our room was very clean, bed comfortable. We came to Dover to celebrate my Partner’s birthday. I emailed the restaurant prior to our trip to ask if I could bring a small cake for his birthday. When we arrived to the restaurant to have our evening meal, there was a birthday card on the table and a Happy Birthday note. After dinner restaurant staff brought a cake (from the hotel) with candles and they sang Happy Birthday to my Partner. It was a lovely and memorable surprise for both him and us. Location was great, close to Dover Castle and White Cliffs of Dover. i can highly recommend the hotel.

Everything was great

The garden area communal spaces within the Hotel was spacious, clean, well kept, well lit, accessible and light decor pleasing to the eye. The chief was great preparing fresh food, good service and brilliant lounge area for relaxing/talking, clean facilities with a lovely gym, clean bedroom and bathroom area. Service at reception polite and accommodating. TV lounge area with comfortable seating and a lovely layout across the hotel space. Children-friendly and polite customer service from arrival to change of staff as we left the hotel.
