It's a beautiful hotel but even better are the staff there, very accommodating and understanding. A very friendly team who are attentive to you. Clean room and bathroom. Comfortable bed! Breakfast and dinner were nice. Surprisingly hot water - so had a decent bath for once at a hotel! No complaints re their facilities or customer service.

Booking.com advertised the bridal suite as available when it wasn't. The hotel staff however did their absolute best to accommodate me into a decent room despite being busy and it wasn't their fault. The refund was given promptly without a fuss. They are working on a resolution for this and explained the issue properly to me. I would advise people to ring the hotel directly to book their room or at least ring straight away and double-check the availability of a room as booking.com can create an issue.

When we first checked in we were allocated a room that was tiny, but, as I was about to complain the receptionist arrived carrying our big suitcase ( No Lifts) as I was about to go back and get the other case, she also had a card for a different room as she realized that the one allocated would be too small. We used the hotel to catch up with a friend who we had not seen for 12 or so years, so we occupied the bar until about 1:00 AM and were very impressed with the service and prices. Thank you to all the excellent staff. But Wait there is more, breakfast was excellent and the Manager made us feel really welcome and was happy to accommodate my variation requests, and then some.

Lack of lifts.

Most staff Very friendly and helpful. Given warm welcome with pot of tea on arrival as we were early for booking in. Very clean and comfortable room . Lovely hot freshly cooked breakfast . Brilliant breakfast staff on first day .very efficient and friendly. Management very helpful.

We were not advised that we needed to book a meal for the evening so had to go to local pub on the first night . The hotel on the outside looks very tired with scruffy gardens . A shame as it is such a lovely old building . Poor drinks with breakfast . Need to offer tea pots . Poor waiting staff on second morning . Needing lots of training .

All Staff are all very good, helpful and attentive Bed was comfortable as was room. Domestic staff noticed bathroom blind needed repair and did it without any asking There are comfy places to relax in bar area

Food choice, due to a coach party staying, it was a buffet breakfast, and limited evening meal choice. I stayed previously last December and food choices were much better, evening meal wasn’t so important as we could go out, however breakfast was ok but not as expected.

Because it was a Monday and quiet I was upgraded from a single to a Superior Heritage Double room - which made the stay even better for value and comfort. The bed was very comfy the bathroom had a lovely deep bath and the room was heated with air conditioning that you can control yourself. Although the restaurant was closed in the evening the hotel was well placed for accessing other restaurants nearby. I liked this hotel as it is a historic building with some original features which gives it a lot more character than most. The staff were very helpful , genuine and friendly.

The quality of the evening meal was unexpectedly very good and reasonably priced. I enjoyed my glass of red in the adjoining lounge and having a read. Loved the power shower and liked the light and airy decor in the small single room. You could see that the desk chair and headboard were new. It was a clean room. I enjoyed the comfort and feel of the hotel. The area for eating breakfast was very clean with a lovely decor. It was a very enjoyable breakfast, cooked veggie breakfast which was noticeably well presented, hot and not at all greasy. I noticed how polite, friendly and very pleasant the staff were especially the young man who greeted me on arriving, served at the bar and in the restaurant. Was very attentive and kindly.

I suppose my only comment here would be that the toilet seat in my room was a bit loose, so a bit of an unexpected jolt on sitting. I did report it in the morning to reception but really that was quite minor.

The hotel itself is beautiful loved the rooms my mum would definitely want to stay again. Staff where friendly and helpful. Worth the money as free parking and the breakfast was included .The shower was amazing. Evening food and breakfast was yummy. We will definitely come back .

No lift as my mum is 76years but it was on first floor so not too bad .Didn't know how to use the air conditioning should have asked and had a problem with my TV didn't know how to change it from radio to TV and again I should have asked .

We enjoyed staying at the hotel. Easy to find and pretty to look at upon arrival. We upgraded and had a spacious room which was very clean. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Staff were very friendly and it felt family orientated. We arrived on the 5th November and were surprised they had their very own fireworks display. We also used the bar for a night cap and the hotel were very accommodating.

The heating of the room was through an AC unit, which is poor for the environment. Also it made a clicking noise intermittently when on. The building is old but beautifully kept however my wife saod the pipes made a tremendous noise in the night that woke her up. Our friends who also stayed said their bed was very small. In my opinion all things that can be easily rectified with some investment. The overall experience was pleasant.

Great location for a stopover on my way to the South West. Very friendly and helpful staff on reception. I felt comfortable and relaxed as a single traveller. I had an issue with my room which I explained to the staff on checking out. Staff very helpful and said manager would contact me. Received a phone call from the manager who listened to my concern and dealt with the matter to my complete satisfaction. This level of customer service was much appreciated. Alongside the welcoming staff and friendly atmosphere of the hotel, this means lots of return visits in future.

Just the issue with my room but the positive response from the manager more than made up for this.

The room was tastefully decorated, bed was comfy and the furniture was good quality - room 1 Staff were very friendly and helpful. Air conditioning in the room to control temperature, Breakfast food was good and pastries were warm

Breakfast room was not big enough for the number of guests and we ended up in the overspill room where the table was hastily laid. Some of the breakfast food was not hot enough but eggs were cooked to order. The drinks bought at the bar were not itemised when we checked out, so it was not clear what we had paid for what we had bought
