There were two restaurants and a bar that were well managed by smartly dressed staff. The food was good. There was plenty of space to enjoy a coffee in a lounge. The hotel had a very nice garden. Our sea view room was quite adequate. The hotel was quite close to the beach although a bit of a climb was involved coming back. At the end of our first two evening meals our waiter organised espressos for us in the lounge to finish and there was no charge.

Our room was a little noisy due to a party Saturday night. It did not stop me getting a good sleep though. When we got back from an excursion on Saturday at 14:50 we took the last space in the hotel car park. There was space to park in the road though. Breakfast finished at 9:30 which I thought a little early. However since we knew about it we just got up in time for this. It sounds like we are lazy but my wife and I have exercises we like to do before breakfast!

Quite location, the most amazing views. Very clean, good decor. Absolutely beautiful garden and seating areas. The pool area was simply stunning too. All staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble from reception and the bar staff.

I loved the comfy bed, but I’m only 5f, my 6f hubby could not fit in the bed so he slept on the floor for the night. It was very warm also. No aircon, we purchased our own fan. Parking was tricky as very busy on arrival. Breakfast was a no go. We paid and waited 20 mins for anyone to notice us, then our coffee came and was hot chocolate. We gave up waiting for our fry up and went to eat elsewhere. Lovely kind breakfast host but not enough staff at all. Self serve would be better if no staff.

Beautiful building and garden on the top of the hill. well designed and cared. The swimming pool is private and an amazing extra treat.. the staff was helpful and friendly and the location is 15 min walk from the south downs way so perfectly located for my needs.

The only problem was the shower in my room - it hardly had water pressure. I came to rest for a night between trekking on one trail and the beginning of the south downs way, so the shower was an important part of taking a night in the hotel.. and was pretty disappointed. Other than that- no complaints at all

Check in was fine and the receptionist handled the self entitled lady in front of me well. The lady wanted a sea view but had not specifically booked a room with that and wanted to change. The Hydro was fully booked for a wedding and no change was possible. The lady in question was a night mare, but the receptionist was polite, consistent and firm. Well done! The seaview from my room, 217, was wonderful! Water was nice and hot, lovely huge towels (pure luxury) there was a fridge for my wine and soft drinks, the room was clean and smelled nice. Downstairs in the, the decor was magnificent. I wanted some alone time to think things through and the hotel was very quiet. I felt rested and relaxed while there. No children running about and all the guests and staff were well mannered and very pleasant.

I must admit that my room 217 was quite small. However, it was as advertised, a single room. I'm not a particularly huge person, but squeezing into the narrow space provided by the sliding doors of the shower was a bit tricky. May I suggest that the doors be replaced by an outward opening door to allow better access. I wouldn't have minded the breakfast period to have stretched to 10:30am on the Sunday as I am a late riser.

I love the character of this place! The building had a grand feeling and it was lovely to see so many families and groups enjoying birthday parties and get-togethers here. Our room was spacious and comfortable and quiet. Situated on the third floor there was the option of a lift or the stairs. We ate in the Crystal Restaurant for our evening meal, the food was delicious and the atmosphere relaxing. For breakfast there was a good selection and a large portion of cooked breakfast. We walked to Beachy Head Lighthouse which took about an hour from the hotel. There was a Dotto train stop about 10 min walk from the hotel. I would definitely recommend staying here.

There were many signs in the lobby stating that dogs were not welcome however there were lots of dogs inside the hotel - maybe they need to make their policy clear. If you are looking for a very modern looking hotel this is not the place for you!

All of the above aspects of the Hotel were of a high standard. The Receptionist was very helpful in answering my requests, including coming out of reception to take me to where I needed to go.

An extra sign outside the lifts indicating the floor number - would be helpful. I used the 'old' lift on arrival which didn't reach the third floor, and got a little lost trying to find the nearest stairs. But see above re. help from reception staff directing me to the other staircase. This maybe a minor issue, but I'd be interested to know if I'm the only one getting lost on arrival. This won't be a problem on future visits - which I hope to make to the Hydro. Price for dinner too high. We ate elsewhere.

The hotel is beautiful, location is perfect, near the beach , surrounded by beautiful quite neighborhood. The hotel is an older building but very well maintained. The gardens and the swimming pool are clean and beautiful. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and very kind people are working at the restaurant and the hotel. Special thanks to Frederica from the reception, she was very professional and made us feel like home. This hotel is the hidden gem of Eastbourne. The best hotel in Eastbourne! We loved the swimming pool and the garden. The view from the hotel is spectacular.

The room was described as having a sea view and it had a fabulous sea view, absolutely gorgeous. It also overlooked the hotel’s very lovely garden though sadly I did not have time to enjoy that. There was also a beautiful display of flowers in planters at the entrance.

I had dinner in the hotel in a lovely conservatory. It was an excellent steak, but the meal was let down by frozen pseudo onion rings rather than the real thing which was disappointing & did not at all live up to the impression of high quality demonstrated in every other way.

Phenomenal! It all came together: on-site parking, lift, fab room with walk- in shower, sea views, opening windows, comfy bed, excellent lighting, great breakfast, totally gorgeous staff. My room 334 is actually 2 rooms with space to wander, incl sofa (what a treat!). The hotel has 2 restaurants, with great meals, and is one of those delightful spacious old-fashioned places with ground floor bar and lounges. You can walk into town via the seafront promenade; the Seven Sisters are a short drive away. I loved everything about the Hydro.

WE HAD A SEA VEIW ROOM OVERLOOKING THE FRONT LAWNS AND HIDDEN OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOL. THE MEALS AT THE HOTEL WERE VERY GOOD AND WE ENJOYED EATING IN BOTH RESTAURANTS, ROOM SMALL BUT VERY COMFORTABLE BEDS AND SUPER VIEW ACROSS THE SEA. THE HOTEL STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND VERY HELPFUL. WOULD RECOMMEND STAYING HERE FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION.

THE BIRD SONG RECORDING THAT PLAYED THROUGH OUT THE DAY OVER THE OUTSIDE PATIO. THIS WAS THE ONLY MEANS OF MAKING SURE THE SEAGULLS DID'NT INVADE THE LAWNS. SHAME BUT NECESSARY.
