Langham Hotel Eastbourne

This was a present for mum. Her last holiday before she dies.

I spared no expense as far as my budget would allow which I could just afford via your agents' at £968. It delighted mum no end to hear and recieve the gift. It angered and totally blew the whole effect though when Langham then months later approached MUM for ANOTHER £1,000 !

Excellent breakfast menu with lots of variety and if there was anything different you wanted the staff were very happy to provide this. The dining area is very pleasant. The bedroom was the perfect size with a very comfortable bed..........always got a great nights sleep. The more than average amount of furniture enables you to unpack clothes and toiletries properly (mini's also provided). Drink making facilities and TV all good. The lounge areas are very nicely furnished and spacious and there is a bar. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Nothing I didn't like, however, perhaps a mini fridge, particularly in the larger rooms as there is more space, would be a nice touch.

Exceptional Staff and very Helpful especially on reception which made our stay even better. Breakfast was very good value and the one time we had pre booked Dinner with our initial hotel booking it was very reasonable and of good quality.

When booking the Hotel it needs to be highlighted that you need to book Dinner at the same time for the duration of your stay, as it is easier to cancel a table booking than it is to book 2 persons into the Restaurant for Dinner on the day (pm) or even booking for the next day. It would appear that this is due to either limited space in the Dining Room or lack of staff to accommodate extra persons without considerable notice. However the reception Staff were very helpful in finding us alternative venues to dine.

Food was beautifully presented, and great value. Portions sizes were generous, possibly too big (cod and chips). Staff were friendly. Location was great, and I was very happy with the cost of my room including breakfast.

The level of service was very good. However, I felt invisible as a person. Not one member of staff asked me how I was, or how my day had gone. I was in Eastbourne to take part in a 25km walking event. I went down to breakfast dressed in my walking kit, wearing a South Coast Challenge T-shirt. No-one enquired what I was doing that day. I completed the walk with a medal, and wanted to talk about what I'd achieved that day, but no-one was interested enough in me, to ask about my day.

At a very busy time of year this hotel was chosen for offering parking facilities. Only 9 spaces but secure off-site spaces available. Dinners were good, breakfasts a bit disappointing. Service rather slow. Hotel has beautiful stained glass windows depicting local views and a number of original paintings in the public areas. Small conservatory addition to front of restaurant with views across the beach.

We had three single rooms. All very clean and adequately equipped. One had a sea view. All were very small and we would not choose to book in these rooms again. Over bath showers were not very efficient - third room had a good walk-in shower.

The location was great. I arrived in Eastbourne by train. I am disabled and walk with a stick. If you are able to walk , it's not really that far. I got the bus, which was quite straightforward. I arrived and got my key, and I was advised that WiFi was free of charge. The actual day before travelling, the hotel phoned to say, would I like an evening meal in the restaurant. I booked for the meal. The room was on the first floor , not far from the lift. Single Room 110. The room was excellent. Lovely walk-in shower. Tea and coffee facilities, fan, hair dryer. The evening meal was excellent, spoilt for choice. Plus, they had a menu for people who are Vegan .The breakfast again, a good selection of food. I have been coming to Eastbourne for about three years. I have stayed at quite a number, but after staying here, I will now make this my favourite hotel to stay in. I have whilst at the hotel, booked a stay in November.

Could not find fault with anything.

Lovely hotel, great location on the sea front. The staff were very helpful, professional and friendly. Good value for money. The food served in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner was of a very high standard, tasty and enjoyable. (We didn’t have lunch here, probably because we were too full from breakfast!) Afternoon tea looked amazing - it would definitely be on my list for next time! Loved eating my meals in the conservatory overlooking the sea front.

I would book a larger bedroom next time as it did get quite stuffy during the night. There was a fan available for our use in the room and we had the window open, which helped, but still had a restless night.

The quality and presentation of food was super. All members of staff were both welcoming and friendly, ensuring that we had everything we needed. We loved the sea view room, especially as we were able to hear the sea as we drifted off to sleep.

Car parking, although very secure, was a bit cumbersome as someone had to open and close the secure gate which meant you just couldn't nip to the car to pick up or deposit items. That said members of staff were always available to assist. Street parking was possible and I parked on the street during the day. I also used the parking at the hotel.

well positioned on sea front. quirky which we liked, staff were all friendly . food was good ( perhaps a more extensive menu) tea/ coffee making facilities were welcome as was the bottled water in rooms

rooms at back had no view and you could hear an air con unit going at night and the single room we had booked was very small. the parking was minimal and the excess parking should have had a barrier that you could access your vehicle without having to contact reception to get it unlocked ( he rode around on a bike to unlock it ) lift was extremely busy on checkout days and could have done with two lifts

We loved the ambiance of the whole hotel. The decor was classical which we prefer to the modern glass and wood cheap hotels. Our room was very comfortable with luxurious towels and dressing gowns, together with all size Slippers which I would only have expected in a 5* city hotel. I couldn't fault any of the staff in any way. The crowning glory was the food. Choice on the breakfast menu amazing. Definitely would use this hotel again.

Struggling to think of anything which is why I gave a ten to the hotel.
