Beautiful old pub with pretty surroundings Breakfast was filling & with a great choice Lovely hard working & very polite staff , all went out of their way to ensure we had a nice stay & our needs met. The staff organise fun days & special events to encourage customers, a lovely team of staff. We stayed here 6 nights over the Easter wkend & it's great value for your money , we would stay here again .🥰

Although this pub is beautiful & I wouldn't change anything on the outside however I do think that Green King could invest some money on renovating certain areas . The guest rooms could do with new carpets as to the stairs leading up to the pub as they are abit worn. The sofas & some chairs in the pub could do with recovering or replaced As I said it is a very beautiful 17th century pub & you can not fault the staff I mean they work with what they have & do their very best . I also get that with the covid situation alot of pubs had to close & suffered terribly so this all adds to places such as this being victim to not having money pumped into it but I think maybe sometime in the future it would be great to see Green King invest in bringing some sparkle into certain parts of it.

Staff were very pleasant, check in was easy and facilities were adequate. The cost for B & B was very reasonable and the breakfast was enjoyable. All in All a very good experience.

The decor is in need of an refurbishment, looking very tatty and tired, but this didn't affect our stay.

We chose the Roebuck because of its location, being ten minutes' drive from the National Trust places of Standen and Sheffield Park Garden, which we wanted to visit. The room overlooked the garden and was very quiet and the bed was large and comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We had dinner there on all three nights and the quality and choices were good.

As others have said, the decorations and carpets do look a little tired but the we felt price for the rooms compensated for this and we would happily stay at this hotel again.

Nice big, clean room, quiet, king-size bed, great price, convenient location, lovely cooked breakfast.. Massive bar area and a great looking restaurant area with big windows. Lovely countryside views from the room. Patio terrace and outside area, great for warmer days and evenings. Pool table and a piano in the bar area. Warm room, but a fan was provided. Room also had an iron, ironing board, and hairdryer. There is plenty of space for clothes storage, and it also had one of those stands to put your case on instead of having to put it on the bed. Flat screen TV with Freeview channels. Great price. Access to the hotel when out of hours using room key in extra outside door. Quick and easy check in. Quick and easy check out!

Room a little tired with a few areas where the wallpaper was starting to peel.. No aircon in room, but didn't really expect it.

The location is excellent especially for visiting Sussex & surrounding towns. It is a lovely old building which has been restored very well. It has a nice ambience & the restaurant is particularly pleasant. Separate Bar & seated area for Bar Food. Very nice room, comfy bed. Nicely decorated. One criticism was the carpet

The carpet in our bedroom was well worn. Very thin so consequently was badly rucked in places which was a trip hazard. Very unattractive & let the room down a bit. Also apparent, there have been smokers in the room. Many dog ends on the flat roof. Not sure how the hotel deals with this but it is something they need to come down on heavily.

We stayed at Roebuck by Greene King Inns to attend a wedding nearby so I couldn't say much about the location. However, I really enjoyed the lovely atmosphere of it. The pub downstairs was lovely and the room had everything we needed. I will not come back unless I have to attend something in the surroundings, but for this one time, it was perfect.

The staff could have been a bit more attentive – it seemed like we were being annoying for ordering a pint at the pub or checking it. Apart from that, lovely stay.

The staff were brilliant, very helpful and friendly. The food was freshly cooked and was really, really good. The room was clean, tea and coffee was well stocked. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were plump, not biscuit flat as we've had in other places. The shower was hot and forceful, better than ours at home tbh. The whole of the ground floor is wheelchair friendly, as would our room be if it had a wet room. No lift but plenty of ground floor rooms. We would have love to see it during the summer, as I bet its lovely. Plenty of outside space for the summertime. We will definitely keep this place in mind when we come back down to East Sussex. If you like old and quirky this is for you. If you want modern and slick don't bother

Nothing. There's nothing to say we didn't like our stay, except it could have been longer. The Rowbuck is a beautiful building with wonderful features and furniture. It is however, a bit worse for wear in some areas. The Wallpaper is lifting in some places, the carpets could do with a deep clean or replacing. In our room 207, there was only one pane of secondary double glazing. The lights in between the beds were a bit loose and one of the bulbs had gone but that wasn't a problem. The bathroom is in need of an update. There's black marks/mould/ gaps in the grouting. It might be better to take the bath out and replace with a walk in shower or a wet room. The whole decor of the building is very 80s with the swags and curtains. However WE LIKED IT!

The staff were all brilliant. We were a group of 15 cyclists on a weekend bike ride starting from the Roebuck. The trip was originally planned for lockdown and we had to cancel and then re-organised for this year. Mada, Karen and Anna all especially need a mention for looking after us. Particularly Anna in the morning over breakfast, despite the size of our group and pre-ordering. She even came out to take our photos. We were also able to leave our Minibus and Trailer for the weekend in the overspill car park.

We picked the Roebuck for our final 6 days in England because of its convenient location for touring as well as being near Gatwick for our departure. Excellent choice. It was convenient and so much more. The staff are friendly and cheerful. Our 5 days trips were so easy, down to the coast, motorway to Chatham, local gardens and walks, and a lovely country drive to Surrey. Returning each day to a pleasant relaxing pub was perfect. The drive to Gatwick on our final morning was quick and easy. We highly recommend this Inn.

A real gem of a hotel. Grounds and little terraces excèptional for this star hotel. Liked relaxed atmosphere, could eat anywhere, got late checkout. Quality of food good. Would love to stay again.

Cons: No lift but help with luggage. Some staff struggled to smile but not rude. REAL problem was availability of local taxi and it's expense - real nightmare as only transport if not driving even when prearranged!!! Also Uber not available.
