Horsted Place Hotel

Lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff. Excellent food in the restaurant - one of the best Sunday Roasts that I didn't cook myself! The room was spacious and the bed comfortable - also care was taken to address a check-in request.

Although the restaurant staff were friendly, they may well need a little more training. As a restaurateur myself and with not many tables to look after, the room was constantly left empty and my belief is that a member of staff should be on the floor at all times when possible - how else can you provide good service? There were certainly enough of them! One of our waitresses lent over the whole table to serve us, which again may be a minor point but the restaurant manager disappeared only appearing again to bring us the bill. I'd like to be clear...the young staff were more than willing and just need some guidance.

We stayed 3 nights and 2 of the breakfasts were excellent, but one was noticeably below par; I assumed that the head chef was enjoying his day off. All 3 dinners were excellent. The biggest positive at the hotel is the staff, particularly the restaurant manager and waiting staff - nothing was too much trouble and there was always a ready smile and a good sense of humour. The hotel building, gardens and grounds are impressive and kept clean and tidy. The suite was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

As mentioned above, one breakfast was below the quality expected, but still edible. The evening menu (including the daily specials) did not change over the three days we were there, which was disappointing. However, I consider myself a fussy eater with several food allergies and intolerances, but was still able to enjoy a different meal each evening. Prices at the hotel are quite high, but in line with the quality of food and service that is achieved. We breakfasted at the same time each morning, but on each of the mornings returned to our suite to find that it was being serviced, which entailed us waiting around for 5 -10 minutes on each occasion. This was annoying and avoidable, but not the end of the world.

Beautiful grounds, common areas, restaurant. Really beautiful hotel. Terrific breakfast (smoked haddock was outstanding). Lovely bathroom. Really liked the buttons in the shower to switch the different heads on. Small thing but why isn't this the standard? Perfect place to stay for Glyndebourne. We've come back for a second visit.

Not really a criticism. The facilities (like sports stuff, gym etc) are sort of non existent (I think?) though there seemed to be an old tennis court. But this means the hotel can offer luxury at a very reasonable price. I wasn't looking for sports etc. Know what you're getting though...

Location - a long winding drive at the end of which is a lovely building and equally delightful grounds. A charming, professional warm welcome at check in. Room light, bright and airy - pure comfort - sofa, chairs and generous in room tea tray. Bed exceptionally comfortable as were the pillows - gold star. Generous bathroom with excellent towels and toiletries. Practical too with good lighting and power points. Food - Dinner creative menu and rather moreish. Breakfast - spoilt for choice and options chosen were very good. Service overall is calm, smooth and efficient

My friend and I went to Glyndebourne and stayed in a separate Junior suit. It was back of the hotel, looking onto a small courtyard. The room was very spacious and large double or king bed. The separate sitting room with one two seated sofa and one arm chair where we had a lovely long chat after coming back from the opera chatting up until midnight drinking camomile tea. Staff is all very polite and smiley and efficient (remember our room numbers). There were plenty of menu to choose from for the breakfast. Perfect stay. Thank you so much.

Horsted Place is a well maintained and beautiful country manor house. We stayed in a spacious suite with a very comfortable, large bedroom, separate sitting room and bathroom. Most of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We really enjoyed the breakfasts.

This small hotel is further than we expected from main towns and places to eat. It has one restaurant that offers excellent breakfast options but the dinner menu was limited. The hotel has no extra amenities on site but you do have access to the golf course, gym, pool and spa at a nearby hotel. We tried the spa facilities which were disappointing. The showers were dirty. My husband and I both had massages that were not at all acceptable. We were short changed on the time and our treatments were just okay. The golf course looked pretty good.

Excellent breakfast with a great service and the staff were very good.

We stayed there during a very cold period and it was disappointing that all the log fires were not lit especially in the restaurant for breakfast, this needs looking at and was the major bad point of our stay. The little things mean a lot and the hotel let us down in this respect especially as we are regular visitors.

LOVED that it was dog friendly. It's the only reason we picked the hotel, and the extra space/location was why we chose it over another dog friendly hotel in Brighton. They have some grounds to wander, you can eat with the dog in the bar area, easy access parking. Ideal.

It is in the middle of nowhere, so you'd need a car to get there and you are kinda stuck for the on site restaurant which isn't amazing. Still - you get the great grounds.

The staff were helpful and friendly, The hotel itself is a beautiful building and the gardens are magnificent. It was lovely that the hotel remembered my friends birthday and left a card and chocolates in our room

There was nothing that we didn't like.The only small improvements we can suggest are that bathroom slippers are provided with the bath robe and hot chocolate provided with the tea and coffee. Otherwise all wonderful.

A beautiful setting and impressive building. A junior suite with garden door was all one could wish for. Ever helpful staff. And a dinner of outstanding quality. This place is one for one's list of treasures to be revisited at the first opportunity. Not cheap. But outstanding value.

If my only moan is that the breakfast bacon was too smoked for my taste you have some idea of how difficult it is to find fault with Horsted.
