The Star Inn

Great location. I'm a taxi driver from the Sheffield area, dropped customers off at Heathrow and needed to find accommodation near Gatwick for the following day for customers arriving at Gatwick. The cheapest room I could find in a 25-mile radius. Polite/helpful staff at the star. Serves food, Good selections of beers/wines. The room and bedding/ towels are fresh and clean and nicely presented. On suite bathroom + shower. If you don't want to take advantage of the food being served at the star ? 2 mins walk you have an option for an Indian restaurant/ Thai/ Turkish, and petrol station close by with a couple of local supermarkets.

A couple of negative points to make but this didn't affect my stay !! It's still a great place/location worth every penny !! But ... shower cubicle could do with a good fettle/ black mould in corners nothing a good blast of bleach couldn't cure or new grout. the water pressure little was low than what I'm used to but was ample enough to get a quick shower in the morning before checking out.

Helpful reception on arrival, although they were busy. Large room with ensuite bath/shower. Were accommodated for supper although we had not reserved a table and the food was very good. The old village of Lingfield was a lovely surprise for an evening stroll. It was handy for an overnight stay before a morning flight from Gatwick Airport about 22 minutes drive away.

Decor was fairly basic, and a bit tired, especially in the bathroom. It was a very hot evening and night, so we had to open all the windows, and there was a lot of noise as we were situated directly above the vent from the kitchen. We were unsure of the procedure when checking out, where to leave the key. We ended up with another couple locked in the bar as the door we came through locked behind us. Luckily the breakfast chef let us out via the kitchen! 😆

We used the star inn for before and after our flights from Gatwick airport, liked the fact that we were in an exterior room as leaving early for our outbound flight and didn’t feel like we were disturbing other guests. Felt confident that the car was secure in the car park. Had a meal both times which was excellent.

The night before our outbound flight we found the wooden beds to be very squeaky, as we were away in Crete we didn’t report this to the staff. Coincidentally we were in the same room after our return flight but the screws etc had been tightened up and we both enjoyed a lovely nights sleep, not really a complaint in fact well done to the maintenance team for dealing with this.

We arrived to a warm and welcoming inn where the staff greeted us with a smile and made us feel welcome straight away. We went up to our room which was clean tidy great value for money water and bathroom were great and best of all was the food the inn has a great resturant with some amazing chefs working there on the first night we had squid and chips the best we have had in all the places we have eaten in the past. On the second night we came home after a long day and booked a table and had the sirloin and boy was it good mouthwatering it melted in your mouth. great food,great room, there was nothing we didnt like about the star inn, i would recommend anyone to stay here, it was amazing

There wasnt anything that we didnt like ( actually condements in the room could of been a little more. )

The location was ideal for our visit to East Grinstead. The room was more than adequate and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was available and good value at £10. We ate twice in the bar and food and service were very good.

There was nothing that would stop us returning. It was a budget hotel but the food offering was well above budget standard. It was hot so a fan provided would have been nice. The free wifi didn’t work but the pub was really busy and a lot of people probably using it.

Great little country pub/hotel. Great location, the food was lovely too. Room really clean & tidy. Staff were extremely welcoming & friendly. Room was spacious and fresh towels. They do provide shower gel but I did take my own. There is a kettle for tea/coffee too. The pub downstairs is fab the staff are so friendly, it's very pretty and country vibes, feels homely. They have a park there too for children and nice outdoor seating area with blankets I noticed. Lots of fairy lights really pretty.

Unfortunately for me the remote wasn't working in the room or the WiFi but no bother it was only a quick stay last minute. Early night it was :)

Location was convenient for our trip to Hever Castle. Room was clean and spacious. Staff were friendly. We changed our dinner reservations to eat here instead after seeing some of the food. It didnt disappoint. Great portions, reasonably priced and extremely tasty.

Obviously being above a pub we didnt expect peace and quiet but noise was still ongoing right under our room until way past 11pm. Car alarm going off repeatedly and very loud airplane noise overhead. Obviuosly not the venues fault and would not deter us from staying again

Lovely spacious room. Close to family we were visiting. Plenty of parking . Easy to find . Although a large Inn and very busy it did not interfere with us in the accommodation.separate entrance was good .

Not the accommodation fault but planes directly overhead landing at Gatwick. Living in quiet village not use to noise. Expected noise from pub not to bad but early morning staff did wake us up

We stayed two nights for a family wedding, it is a lovely property, rooms were clean and functional, staff were friendly, food was excellent. The breakfast was good and the pub itself was large and well frequented with plenty of parking space

You are under the flight path for Gatwick airport but the property can’t really do anything about that and it did not really bother us.

The staff were very friendly and the room very comfortable. the bedroom and bathroom were very clean I stayed at the back of the property, which has amazing rooms

Not much they could have done better. maybe when they next refit the rooms they could fix the floor boards. with single glazed windows the kitchen extraction was a little noisy. but that went when the kitchen closed
