This little hotel has lots of old-world charm and is within walking distance of George Square, Buchanan and Sauchiehall Streets. The staff are friendly and helpful. 24-hour car park right across the street with discounted rates. The room was clean and comfortable. Free coffee and tea in the room, and snacks for purchase.

The windows were frosted so you couldn't see out. They didn't open either, so you couldn't check the weather. The plug in the sink was broken and there was nowhere to put luggage except on the floor. No fridge nor ice machines to keep drinks cold. Why does it seem that using booking.com gets you inferior rooms?

Was an almost last minute booking for attending a rock concert. Chose the cheapest city centre option available at the time and only really required a bed, shower & breakfast. Arrived and instantly the hotel was far grander than anticipated! The staff were very friendly, the communal areas were grand, the room was spacious. Breakfast in the morning was first class and very welcome for the incoming hangover! The old-fashioned lift was a nice charming feature as well. Overall, good facilities provided but probably what you'd expect from a hotel of this level (far more than is required for the average rock concert trip!) Very nice hotel, decent location and more than served its purpose on this occasion.

Only real issue was that the bath could have been cleaned better, looked a bit dirty/neglected.

We were immediately given an upgraded and very comfortable room when a fault in the heating was identified in our original room. (Our very cold first night explains why my overall rating is an 8 rather than higher.) The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful.

The kitchen got a little overwhelmed on the one morning we had breakfast, resulting in a longer wait than expected. (The food was excellent.) The bar keeps surprisingly limited stocks of whiskies for a Scottish hotel. Our original room was very short of shelf/drawer space for clothes. (Thoujgh I understand the constraints in adapting an historic building). If the booking site had been more explicit about facilities, we'd probably have chosen a higher grade room in the first place..

Staff welcomed our early arrival, looked after our luggage and carried it up to our room since the lift was out of order. We had room 205, which was very spacious with a huge comfortable bed, a sofa and an armchair. We loved the high ceiling and the stained glass window. We had chosen inclusive breakfast and it was lovely to have it served as individually ordered: the choice of items was imaginative and interesting. We enjoyed complete peace overnight and yet benefitted from the good transport links which took us to the fascinating museums and art galleries we wanted to visit. There were good restaurants nearby in which to have an evening meal: we chose one Greek and one Scottish. The building is historic and elegant as is much of the centre of the city.

Pity that the antique lift was not working - we would have enjoyed using it.

Cheerful reception on arrival. Staff professional and welcoming. Room huge, clean and had everything required, tea/coffee, chocolate and biscuits. Also a coffee machine. Lovely body wash and moisturiser in the bathroom, comfy beds, quiet even though overlooked the street. Room temperature perfect. Central for main areas and the museums on the fringe. Easy access to good local restaurants.

Having to park in a multi storey car park but that is a consequence of staying in a city hotel. It’s a faff carrying all your luggage. There is a 25% deduction issued by the hotel for parking so only pay £12.50. This is issued on check out. Bath room requires updating.

Though some of the fixtures (such as my bedside lamp) need a bit of love everything was very clean and comfy. The staff were lovely, so polite and friendly. It is a beautiful old building and my daughter and I felt like we had walked into an Agatha Christie novel - but safe (!) and with all the modern amenities - I was especially grateful for the nespresso machine. The TV only offers linear programmes but the wi-fi is good so the teenager was happy on her iPad. Would, and probably will, stay here again. Oh, and the Italian restaurant next door did not disappoint.

A little fridge in the room wouldn't hurt and if pressed to name something I would suggest some of the fixtures and fittings need renewing or a quick fix, but that really would be nit-picking.

Lovely little hotel with beautiful features, an old Georgian building. The staff were accommodating and friendly. We had breakfast included in our booking and the choice is great which freshly made, the young lady in the restaurant was very friendly and attentive to your needs. We found the bed very comfortable with complimentary tea and coffee in the room there were also water and nibbles (but chargeable).

the only comment our room was facing the street so it can get a little noisy in the early hours (more on the Saturday night) - would have been lovely if we could open our window just to let some air in - and the bathroom was a tad small.

our stay was wonderful!! we arrived early from an early flight and the lovely man at reception gave us early checkin after us nearly falling asleep in the lobby! the room was a bit small but that is maybe just because we had big bags! the room was good value for money and the bed was so comfortable!! the bathroom was amazing, especially after staying at hostels!! the lift was an old school cage design which added some novelty to our stay! the location was amazing and central to plenty of food options and shops! it was only a 30 minute walk to kelingrove art gallery and museum and a 15 minute walk to queen street station. the staff were lovely and we wish we could’ve stayed longer!!

Excellent location, short walk from main city Center streets. Beautiful building. The 1930’s lift/elevator adds a nice quirk to the experience. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was reasonable size. Very good shower. Air conditioning. Car park across the street is discounted by the hotel, £12.50 for 24hrs.

Breakfast is served in the adjoining Bistro but the service was extremely slow. We had to wait 45 minutes to be served. There seemed to be enough staff and they seemed to be experienced and professional so the issue must be in the kitchen. It’s all a lá carte, no buffet. And it’s decent choice but not very extensive. I had the Shakahouka, which should have had two soft baked eggs but they were tough and leathery. The toast was plentiful but it wasn’t actually toasted, just heated bread. Maybe turn up the toaster and turn down the oven! We had a similar experience in the Manchester Abode, the bistro was very unprofessional and the breakfast room was a complete disaster. Abode does excellent hotel room but can’t seem to get the food experience right.

The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on. This is of major importance to me as I don’t sleep well as a rule. I slept soundly every night there. The breakfasts were excellent with many tasty gluten free and vegetarian options.

Cleanliness was good but not fantastic. There is a very steep set of stairs at the entrance with no ramp, very difficult for older guests carrying heavy bags. The lift is a delightful talking point as it is an old fashioned cage lift but I did not like using it.
