Holiday Inn Express Gloucester - South, an IHG Hotel

On site restaurant next door location is great for a stopover

I was asked about dietary requirements by Charmaine of which I said we were 2 vegetarians so breakfast would need to be veggie sausages not meat. However there was not any. The staff said they had not had the delivery. I found this excuse a little unexcetable especially when they knew we were staying. It just takes a little planning to make sure all guests are accommodated for This might seen a little petty but don't ask if you can't fulfill requests

The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, the cooked breakfast was excellent, hot and very tasty, there was a good choice of other options as well. The reception and bar area was very roomy with plenty of seating. The young girl on the night staff was very pleasant and chatty. The day staff were very nice and helpful. also there is plenty of parking.

The night staff could have been a bit more helpful, they did their job,, but when asked about getting something to eat, as we had arrived later in the evening they just said they couldn't help, their service at the bar was not good And none of them could pour a pint of beer properly, they was polite, but a bit blunt and abrupt, they made me feel as if I dare not ask them anything.

Great hotel as all holiday in express are. Location was just perfect..near the motorway. Around 30-40 minutes to Bibery in Cotswold center which is ideal. Cheap and affordable. Breakfast was included but breakfast has really gone downhill in holiday inn expresses. Here it was particularly terrible. Juice was full of sugar, coffee very weak. Good that we had option of vegetable sausage but they were not worth eating. Croissants were good. Yogurt good but just plain available with fresh fruits. Was ok. Rooms were neat, pillows were decent. All holiday in express have same sinks and all are terrible. Water path is not defined and hence all water drips forward in your feet. Not good feeling. Shower was good. Water was pleasantly hot. Ample parking and was almost full. Breakfast time was so busy. Hardly found a place to sit. Good thing all express hotels have microwave where you can heat something you like. Tea/coffee available in room

Breakfast

Brilliant white linen and towels and cleanliness of room and facilities. The breakfast was brilliant and satisfied dietary requirement and all tastes and ALL staff throughout establishment were polite, helpful and friendly. Plenty of car parking space. One of the lights was not working in the room - it was reported when we went down to breakfast and was working by the time we had eaten.

We had a small issue over towels not being replenished one day but the supply was brought up within 10 minutes of letting reception know.

Fabulous location with 2 pubs within walking distance. We went to the one 5 minutes away which had a carvery, a fabulous cake stand and ice-cream cabinet! And was Greene king so was reasonable. I think there was a children's play area too! It's also next to the park and ride! The staff were lovely and very efficient. Breakfast was very busy but they were polite, seating people in a queue whilst they efficiently rearranged tables. Rooms were clean and v good value. A great experience and will definitely go back.

Perfect location and all staff were incredibly friendly. Comfortable bed and everything clean. Fantastic breakfast.

The pub next door where we had evening meal was a little disappointing. I’m not sure whether they have any connection with the hotel. The only other thing is the cost of £25 for the dog. I think it’s a bit steep for one night’s stay but he did get a little treat bag and there was somewhere to eat breakfast with him so that was good.

breakfast was good, plenty to choose from the cooked breakfast was always hot & well cooked, room was very clean,cleaning was absolutely brilliant , bed was really comfortable, staff were polite & helpful, location was ideal.

Staff in the evening could have been a bit more chatty & spent a bit less time on their phones, sometimes had to wait for ages to be served at the bar as hotel was busy & only one person serving drinks.

Been here a few times now. Staff are amazing and very helpful. Always clean inside.

This time I was very aware of the bags and tins laying in the bushes and on the grass outside. Someone had ordered a takeaway and placed the bag near the front of the building. It was on the grass the following morning. There is a bin at the front of the building only a few yards from where it was placed. Also a doughnut bag there all week. Maybe staff should highlight the need to use the bin or look outside in the grounds and clear any rubbish there.

Room was clean as where all other common areas. The bed was extremely comfortable and although only a double we slept really well. The room was well laid out with a desk and small seating area. A hairdryer, iron and ironing board were also provided as was tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast was adequate and a typical hotel chain buffet offering. There was plenty on offer and even though it was a Bank Holiday weekend and the hotel was busy we had no problems. The price was very good considering the location, being near the Cotswolds and it being a Bank Holiday. I would have no problems recommending this hotel and wasn't disappointed on my first trip to England.

I would have liked to have seen individual toiletries in the bathrooms although you could ask at the desk for anything you may have forgotten, free of charge.

Bed very comfortable. Food served was well cooked and nicely presented. Spacious bedroom. Considering it was right next to a busy road there was little noise from outside.

Bedroom was very dark, no lights at one end of room. Navy Blue wall does not help. Bathroom door goes back against the lock and is quite dangerous. We put towel round handle for safety. No fried eggs, mushrooms or tomatoes for breakfast?
