The setting is flawless. Minchinhampton Common is wonderful location and The Lodge sits at the heart of it. The room was perfectly acceptable for a night's stay, with wifi, TV, and all amenities you'd expect. The bed was very firm, which suits me perfectly but I know would have been uncomfortable for my wife had she been with me. The staff were excellent, accommodating, and attentive. They arranged a late check-out at very short notice and were generally awesome. Breakfast was delicious - I had a full English with superior quality ingredients.

There isn't much that could have been better. I wasn't dissatisfied in any regard.

The location, in the middle of the town common was so much fun. Livestock of all kinds, mingled together with the golfers. We enjoyed the rather grew-like-topsy floor plan for the public rooms on the ground floor, resulting in numerous interesting nooks and crannies for drinks and snacks. The breakfast was good. Lunch was excellent; we regret not giving the kitchen a try for dinner. Our room was clean and bright with a lovely outlook over the cows on the common.

The unlit sign for the turn off the main road was hard to spot in the dark; more than fine in daylight.

The food was really high quality and there was a real range of options available. The staff went above and beyond in everything and were really lovely. Honestly can’t fault the staff or the restaurant. We were made the feel very welcome. The location was also beautiful.

Low ceilings in places which my 6ft6 husband did struggle. In room 6, there were not blinds/curtains on very window, which meant the room was very light in a morning.

This was our fourth or fifth stay and it's always a bit of a sanctuary for us and the staff always make us feel really welcome! Our stays are always very relaxing and enjoyable and the quality of the food is great, especially the full English breakfast morning! We enjoyed really good banter with the manager throughout our stay and are really looking forward to when we'll be back once more.

Nothing at all!! Everything was, as always, very slick yet relaxing and welcoming!!

We had an incredible dinner, a wonderful welcome and a peaceful night sleep. The staff were wonderful, the breakfast was beautiful and we'd love to visit again!

We did arrive on my mums birthday and I'd asked if I could have the room decorated. The gentleman on the phone said he'd arrange for prosecco to be in the room and a free dessert for my mum. Id offered to pay on the phone however i was told it was on the house, so i was really excited for my mums reaction. Unfortunately nothing had been arranged, but never the less we still had a lovely time

Rooms very traditional and period. Comfy bed and exactly what we wanted for a stay in the Cotswolds. The breakfast was amazing quality and amount. All included in the cost of the room. Like a top country restaurant

Due to the weather, the drive way to the hotel and the car park was very muddy as it’s not tarmac so the car and our shoes were so dirty by the time we head to a wedding and on the way back my partners high heels were very dirty which seems an easy fix when the place gets the car park finished

Breakfast was beyond brilliant, tons of choice to suit every dietary requirement and taste. Staff were efficient, friendly & helpful. Decor was great, stylish without being too pretentious Location frankly superb (apart from head being blown off in gale's :-))...fab to be able to go for a huge walk from the front door Other meals also superb, including children's menu

Not the fault of the Old Lodge but occupants with a baby and small child in next room were v noisy, child kept thumping on the wall...need , more sound proofing. Otherwise no gripes

The location is beautiful, up high in the middle of Minchinhampton common, a short drive away from Stroud. The breakfast was excellent, I had eggs florentine, cooked to perfection with plenty of spinach and an oat flat white. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

This is a pub at the end of the day, so the standard table salt, pepper, and standard tea and coffee in the room reflected this. Overall, it was brilliant - very good value, warm, clean and comfortable.

The cooked breakfast was superb. Well cooked, plenty on the plate and a great start to the day. We also had an evening meal on the first night and it again was superb. The fish of the day was cooked very well. My wife enjoyed the curry. The restaurant/bar area is a lovely place to sit and relax. And the bonus was the open lit fire. A welcomed addition with the freezing temperatures outside. The staff were all very friendly, welcoming and offered great info on places to dine out nearby. The location of the lodge was in a very green, vast common area. Great for walks. Stroud Town centre is less than 10 minutes drive away. Cirencester about 20 minutes or so away. Great location!

The double bed could have been a bit more comfortable. More surface space in the bedroom, and maybe a chest of drawers to put clothes away would have been good. Parts of the building could do with a little TLC. Great to see a decorater was doing just that when we arrived so I guess they're on the case with the TLC.

Friendliness and efficiency excellent. Good location and ambience. Food excellent and good choices. I would come again! I liked the cheerfulness of the public bar and the dog friendly atmosphere. As a painter, I loved the art everywhere. Lovely touches.

I booked for my friends, without seeing the property on the recommendation of a good friend. Loved the location and I personally was very happy with my bedroom (no 3). My friend in No 2 was not so happy as for her the bathroom was very cramped. The main criticism, a small one, is the main staircase to the bedrooms. the half step is dangerous for children and oldies like us! The lighting, which we mentioned, on the staircase was missing a bulb, making it doubly dangerous Just needs a bit of a refurb!
