Easy place to find not far from the motorway. They have plenty of parking on site with a lovely view of the church and access to it from the carpark. They have a beer garden with plenty of seating, 2 bar areas and a decent size restaurant. We received a warm and friendly welcome as soon as we walked through the door even though i had just got off a motorbike and looked like i had been dragged through a hedge backwards. The locals are great and I enjoyed chatting to them. We had a large room overlooking the beer garden. The bed was very comfortable but it was a very hot night and the room was extremely hot. They did have a fan in the room but sadly it didn't make much difference but don't let this put you off, how many hot nights do we really get in the UK? The room had tea, coffee with fresh milk in the fridge and some amazing shortbread biscuits. There was a safe in the room, bathrobes and really nice shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. Everything you needed was there. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless as was the rest of the hotel. We had a table booked in the restaurant but was given the option of eating in there or the bar area. We decided to eat in the bar area as it was the same menu. The food and service gets a 10/10 from both of us it was that good. The steak was so juicy and cooked just how i like it. My partner had the steak and ale pie but with chips. We just knew breakfast was going to be good and it was. Everything cooked to order and red hot. There was fresh juices and fresh fruit along with the normal things you could expect for breakfast. This was a good find and broke our journey up as it was halfway. It was only by chance i found it but glad i did. We will be staying here again when we are travelling to or from Plymouth for the ferry. At least we know we wont be let down and the food and service is going to be great. Even the cleaners at the hotel were lovely to chat to and do an amazing job.

Everything was great apart from the heat but not the hotels fault. They did provide you with bottled water which was in the fridge in the room and a fan in the room. I think maybe our room might have had the sun on it all day but if that’s the case then maybe they could put blinds up at the window to keep the sun off the room.

This is a great place to stay. Friendly staff, great food. Comfortable rooms with very good tea, coffee facilities, and fresh milk in the fridge. This is the 2nd time we have stayed here on our way back home from getting off the ferry in Plymouth. We wasnt the only 1s staying here after the ferry trip back from Spain. It's not far off the motorway, so you're not going too far out of your way. We would stay here again but in a different room due to the noise of the traffic. The bedroom window wouldn't close fully, so that didn't help. We only spotted that in the morning, though.

Traffic noise. Secondary glazing would help.

On arrival we were met and shown to our accommodation. This was a cottage attached to the main building which was set up for self-catering. In the fridge we found milk and two bottles of water. There was also tea, coffee and sugar, enabling us to make our own hot drinks. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was excellent. We also enjoyed breakfast at an additional cost on our final morning. The staff were friendly and courteous and we received very good service.

We found the best way to make contact and receive a response to a request for booking at table in the restaurant was via Booking.com. It wasn't possible to book a table using The Frocester's website.

We have stayed at the Frocester a few times when visiting family and always enjoyed our stays. Staff always friendly and helpful. We didn't have dinner at the hotel, but breakfast was wonderful and the bread (toast) was great (baked on the premises). We had a suite - huge bedroom and huge bathroom with excellent shower and large bath - really comfortable king size bed. Furnishings are dark wood and a bit old fashioned, but absolutely everything you need is provided - in these rooms even slippers and bath robes. I think all rooms have fridges with fresh milk. Thank you to everyone including the bar staff who made our stay so enjoyable.

Nothing!

The Inn is an authentic old building with some quirky features. The bar was lively and friendly on our Sunday night stay The Sunday Roast was enormous and delicious and the Breakfast options were first class The Room and shower were very good. The Inn is very well placed for visiting the WWT Slimbridge which is why we were there.

The only downside and why I only gave a good for comfort and overall an 8 was the amount of traffic noise which made sleeping difficult. We would stay again but ask for a room at the rear of the building where hopefully the noise would be less. The bar closed at 11 and the actual building was very quiet,

The breakfast and evening dinner was excellent and the food overall the hi light of our stay. Excellent choices on the menu, the food was delicious and plentiful and well presented.

Knowing what we know now we would have preferred a room at the back of the premises due to the traffic noise being on a busy crossroads junction. Although being rural the road was well used and could not sleep with the window open. We had room 4 and it’s a shame as it is at the front and a lovely room . Also bathroom could do with a little more shelving for toiletries.

Really lovely location and close to other towns and villages. Dinner and breakfast was delicious. The room was a great size and the bathroom was fantastic.

I think new mattresses would be good as the bed was a little uncomfortable. The floor in the bathroom was extremely slippery so not sure what product is used to clean it but nearly fell over a few times. Plugs in sinks didn't keep the water in and the taps are far too big for the sinks. The room could do with a refresh of furniture and paint. It was a little noisy due to the location being on a road junction.

Good clean, well thought out and stylish accommodation. We had room 7 the bathroom was beautiful. The bed is a good size. We were made to feel welcome. I have to say it is a very well kept, clean inn. I love the mix of old furniture and new fixings.

We were genuinely happy with all, but our one observation was that one of your evening waiting staff could do with a little in house training. Her personality and social interaction are good. But knowledge and etiquette could be improved on. When I asked for a G&T her reply was we have a wall of gin . May be " do you have any particular brand or type of gin in mind. We have ..... ." The bill was set before us with out asking, and coffee wasn't offered. Apart from this observation no complaints and would recommend to family and friends.

we booked magnolia cottage as we wanted to have our dog with us and thought it was a nice well presented self contained accommodation with full kitchen facilities and bathroom, it’s quite private even though it’s next to the pubs outside courtyard space, it has a private area to sit outside weather permitting and a log burner for a quiet night in should you want one. the bedroom is up a narrow winder staircase which might not suit anyone with difficulty in walking but fine otherwise once upstairs the ceiling is also slightly restrictive but adds to the charm I’d say, but remember the only bathroom is downstairs. overall a nice clean well presented cottage with bags of character and charm. the staff are all also very pleasant and helpful and respond quickly and accurately to any enquiries.

stairs to bedroom could be limiting for some and you have to watch the ceiling beams !!

Excellent breakfast - full English. Nice big cup of coffee. Oviously an old coaching house, retaining brasses on the beams etc. Bit of a rabbit warren. My bedroom at least had been brought up to a good standard. Staff were very friendly.

Room was a little stuffy even with the window open and the (quiet) fan going. Some traffic noise but not excessive. The only odd thing was the toilet was across a passageway but it caused no problems. Wi-fi on the TV was a bit patchy.
