Perfect location for events at the Piece Hall. A group of us stayed here last summer and had such a great experience that we came back again, and will come again whenever we have an event at the Peice Hall. Staff are all friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. They remembered us from last summer. It's affordable and perfect for our needs. We enjoyed a few cheap drinks in the bar for a couple of ours before heading to our event. Tried some really nice new drinks too, really good selection. I booked 3 single rooms so we were on the top floor with shared toilets, but every room has it's own sink, bed which was really comfy, and tea/Coffee making facilities. Everything you need. We only live in Leeds so not far but find it so much more convenient being able to stay over after an event at the Piece Hall rather than battling with taxi's, and at that price you really can't complain. Literally 2 minute walk to Piece Hall.

Nothing There's no breakfast on site but we walk 5 minutes up the road for a McDonald's breakfast. It's become a bit of a tradition.

We had a double bed that was comfy and cosy, and was just a few steps up the stairs to get to it, it was deadly qiuet overnight, even when other guests were leaving for early moring they were quiet and did not disturb any other guests. Jakie the landlady is an absolute hoot and always up for a laugh, I have stayed there befroe and on my sencond time all she said oh no not you again, this is a down to earth place and what you see is what you get and I love that. I am now on my 3rd visit, and everytime I look for somewhere in Halifax then this is the place for me.

I am disabled and was given a lower room just to the right of the main door, and has a slope making it easier to walk on. the bed was an eletric bed with a remote to assit any way you wish to sleep. The Hotel is situated on a main road opp the post office sorting office, and easy crossing to the right, you are only a few minutes walk from all shops and there is a shopping centre right across the road to the right of the hotel. there is parking spaces situated at the back of the premises, but please be sure to tell Jackie that you have a car parked there during your stay as this parking area has an enforcement attached to it, but tell Jackie and you will have no problem. The hotel offers a latge selection of drinks and on Thursdays Jackie sometimes makes a meal for you to purchase. If you are out and about in Halifax then there is always somewhere very close for you to eat and be merry, put please remember that Halifax is quite hilly in places so if your on a walking stick or frame then please take your time to get about. The locals are very friendly and say hello a lot so just answer with "how do" if you do saty at The Old Post Office Hotel then it is very easy to find as if you look right across the street you will see the sorting office, and just behind that you have the 6th form college ( Trinity ) so if you are walking look for this buliding and you can either side of this and look straight down to the hotel. Upon meeting jackie at the hotel, the booking in was quick and simple, she will show you to your room, and she has a the most wicked sense of humour and will say exactly the way things are, ( i love Jackie for this) please note that sometimes the bar closes earlier due to not many people out, but do not let this put you off as I said before there is hordes of places to go to and the best bit is Halifax is beyond cheap as the cost of a pint is NOT above 3.00 this include a weekend. ( so imagine what you can do with 25.00 quid happy days

I was in Halifax to attend a funeral, but I cannot say one bad word against Halifax as I found it a lovely place to spend a couple of nights.

The Old Post office is a great find for those travelling for work as it is situated in the perfect location in the heart of Halifax. The rooms are clean and well maintained with good facilities for a quick stop over.

The only drawback which is in no fault of the hotel staff is the amount of stairs, this was once an old post office and the design of it means that there are a lot of stairs. this cannot be changed and is in no reflection of the service provided by the hotel itself.

Jackie the manager was amazing. Really welcoming and nothing was too much bother for her. The hotel is a pub but its not noisy and guests can take drinks to their rooms. My wife has mobility problems and so were ground floor right next to the pub but you couldn't hear any noise. We had a wet room so easy access for my wife to shower. Even had beds that my wife could raise the feet end or we could caise the head end! Room was full accessible for wheelchair users. Perfect location for us to explore Halifax and Howarth

The wet room floor got quite flooded when using the shower. It could maybe have done with a squeegee in the room so we could push the water back.

Walk to the room from the bar was a bit of a labyrinth but it was clean and comfy. Separate entrance meant we could come and go without going through the bar at all hours. We had a separate toilet which was a good size, many rooms have a shared bathroom but even that wouldn't have been an issue as the shared ones looked close enough to the rooms. Perfect location for a gig at the Piece hall and even had a band on themselves afterwards to keep the party going.

It was a delightful attic room under the eaves with a skylight. The mattress was relatively comfortable & enabled a good night's sleep. The location was central to Halifax, set into the valley & with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding forests.

There could have been better communication in the setting up of the booking. There was a discrepancy as to how the booking was going to be paid & unnecessary confusion on arrival. It would have been helpful to have been given the benefit of the doubt.

Loved the location. The staff were excellent and made us feel 'at home'. Many thanks Jackie & Charli you made us feel very welcome and you should be proud. The pub part was 'just our kind of pub'. The room had all we needed and more, well thought out.

The bathroom fittings were in need of replacement but that was just superficial everything worked very well. Needed a plug for the sink, but I knew I just had to ask but didn't as just minor.

Everything was good, and the value was pretty amazing for a central city location.

Car park was full when I turned up, but there is another one over the road, that was £3 for 24 hours. So I parked there, and moved my car back to the hotel the next day. It wasn't an issue and the owner was very apologetic. She didn't have to be!
