Cedar Court Hotel Huddersfield

I stayed here for a few days as a work vacation. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovations but this didn't cause any issues. They have meeting rooms for business that are nicely sized and well looked after. I stayed in a superior double room for a very reasonable price, for 4 nights. The room is huge, the bed is a very comfortable king sized bed with great pillows. Huge windows in the room offer loads of light and have black out blinds AND curtains so you can choose your desired light level in the mornings. My room was silent! Even with an event in the building on the Friday night, I didn't hear a thing! The food from the Grill 52 restaurant is amazing. The menu offers a wide range of meals without being too broad. Loads of locally themed/sourced food options. I personally loved the salmon trout dish. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The only thing I would love to see added is somewhere to get some snacks from. Sometimes you dont need a full meal, you just want some snacks to watch a film with. This is a common issue with hotels, not just Cedar Court, maybe a vending machine? or a mini convenience shop/snacks bar?

Staff were lovely and welcoming. Even the cleaning staff made a point of saying good morning, which was really nice. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel in general was very nice and super clean. Drink and food prices were reasonable for a hotel.

The bathroom handle in our room (260) did not work properly to open the door once it was shut. We had to fiddle with the knob to get it to open. This meant it had to be open the whole time, which was a bit annoying but did not affect our stay in a negative way. The room could have done bedside plug points to be able to charge a phone overnight. The USB one did not work and kept charging and un-charging every second.

This is my 2nd visit to Huddersfield Cedar Court this year and the staff are lovely. I stayed in a superior double room and the bed was lovely. Even on a busy night the room was very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast is always good and lots of choices - I appreciate the slightly later breakfast times on the weekends. I work from my room as a mini workcation and the wifi is good (30-40mbps), easily able to upload videos while watching Netflix and other streaming services. The restaurant food is great and over the 2 stays I think I have had a good 75% of the menu. I highly suggest the calamari, the salmon trout and the stick toffee pudding.

Slight issue this time as they was very busy Saturday night and this led to some customer service issues. This is very rare for them but its only fair to mention.

I stayed here a few times over the years and enjoyed it, but on returning this time I was very happy with the renovations and improvements where better than expected. I am quite fussy about where I stay, cleanliness is important and I prefer modern stays with good facilities and I was pleasantly surprised at the new rooms. The bed was huge (super king) and comfortable and even the mugs in the room were nice, rather than the average white mugs. its modern updates and the new decor is nice and there is more technology such as the bathroom mirrors, plug sockets are all USB etc. Check-in was friendly and Ollie was helpful, I also overheard him talking to other guests with local recommendations and he was friendly and informative. We had pizza and delicious chunky chips and took them to our room on the evening and then breakfast in the morning..the host (rak I think he was called) was very friendly and professional and was chatting with our little boy and helped him at the buffet which was cute. There was no noise and disruption at all. I'm looking forward to staying again! especially when the refurb is complete. Overall we enjoyed it and loved teh way the new hotel looks! Thank you :)

Nothing - All good

The staff are the real stars of this hotel and a credit to the company! All extremely professional, hard working combined with friendly and extremely helpful, from the house keeping young lady, bar and waiting staff, to management both breakfast and evening shifts. Special thanks to Chef Luke, Josh and Conner providing delicious gluten free meals, giving me confidence that I would remain well throughout my stay. The breakfast chef lady and the breakfast supervisor were also extremely helpful. Duty manager Charlotte on the front desk who we first met gave us a lot of support. Willingly giving her time and attention on several occasions to help best organise our stay to see Muse at the John Smiths Stadium, as we were not familiar with the area. Special mention must go to the night duty manager gentleman (sorry I didn't catch his name) on 20th June who rescued us with several phone calls after midnight ( while also working on the late hotel bar that was very busy!) He personally managed to get us a taxi to bring us back to the hotel in the early hours when we were stranded and getting cold! Note to owners: Transport idea to and more importantly FROM the Concert at the John Smith's Stadium? It would be hugely beneficial to residents if there was a transfer bus or even coach to and more importantly BACK from the Stadium laid on by the hotel that we could book in advance. We were 2 OAPs that got stranded until the early hours after the concert unable to get a taxi back as all taxi firms refused to do booked return pick ups and in the event all taxi firms refused to pick us up AT ALL on the night, from the area outside the Stadium and around its local vicinity, due to the chaotic gridlock of vehicles that lasted 2 -3 hours after the Concert had finished! Luckily it was a dry warmish night! Charlotte and the night duty gentleman went above and beyond to help support us. Icing on our stay cake was the very thoughtful gift from Cedar Court Hotel of a Muse mug.

Room en suite sink was a bit slow draining but maintenance gentleman fixed it immediately after I flagged it up. The room facilities are a bit well worn and could do with refurbishment. Taxi transport difficulties back to the hotel after a concert at the nearby Stadium. (Pleas see above hotel laid on Transport idea) Otherwise perfect!

The room was spacious and comfortable with nice beds. There was a good amount of storage space and I liked the dressing table built into the wall beside the bathroom. It was very handy indeed! The price paid for two nights was also an incredible bargain and was close to the wedding that I had travelled down to attend.

It would have been nice if each bed had a plug/ charging point beside it but it wasn't a massive deal really. Another idea which would have been nice is if there had been a soap/ bodywash dispenser on the wall of the bathroom at the side of the bath (as well as higher up beside the shower) so that you didn't need to stand up every time you needed soap when having a normal bath! :D Again, not a big deal!

Excellent breakfast with a variety of choice. Comfortable bed and the room was clean. Good kettle tray with selection of tea and coffee.

No side to the stairs to help with suitcase as was heavy for older generation to carry up and down steps. I rang to enquire if car park had disabled parking which was more than satisfactory however having mentioned my circumstances a room not so far away from main part would have been more thoughtfully appreciated, or a mention that you were full and apologetic that you could not have put me in a more suitable area of the hotel.

I love the fact that they are so attentive, they text you a few times if you need any special requirements and a text on the day to let them know if we need a spot in the restaurant. The staff themselves were so attentive, welcoming. Kian, Kerrigan and Abi Louise were so helpful and friendly. There was also a lovely young man that brought our bags to our room and a really kind and lovely maid that helped me get into my room the next morning, she could she I was flustered and jumped to the rescue! Everyone was simply amazing.

I have no complaints. We will definitely be returning. I've got family nearby so we will use it again if needed in the future and we are back up in April for the same type of visit as this time and will definitely will be booking here again next time!

Nice comfortable room, clean. Good location.

The hotel desperately needs more staff. Check-in was a bit shambolic as none of the (many) automated check-in locations worked properly, so the one receptionist was kept busy. When I went to the bar for a coffee later in the day, there was no-one manning the bar - the receptionist had to run over and serve me. The restaurant had the most issues though. I think there were just two staff members trying to manage this at breakfast. Both coffee machines ran out of water and/or coffee, and guests kept having to ask for them to be topped up. There were no plates or bowls, until guests asked for them. Food kept running out and had to be requested.

friendliness of the staff, breakfast and the late opening of the bar. the room and the hotel was very clean apart from the black mold at the edge of the bath. The panels and edges of the conservatory where you have breakfast have not been cleaned for a while so it’s a little off putting when seated having breakfast- but apart from this the restaurant area was very clean. the outside area was very well kept. the view is magnificent- well worth the stay - it’s an encouragement to stay generally, it a lovely building, there is area that needs works, repairs to the internal ceiling and could do with some update to brighten up the hallway. But all in all I enjoyed my stay staff was brilliant: the first day of breakfast manager or person in charge as well as the rest staff was helpful; checkin staff and all staff on reception were courteous and extremely helpful- thank you to all - absolutely brilliant staff. I’m dyslexic and I didn’t inform the staff of this - found machine for hot drink difficult and on both occasions of it use staff was helpful- that was so nice not having to disclose-once again staff was excellent to include the lady who cleaned our room. thank you to all

As mentioned earlier- the hotel itself apart from a few repairs and update: it’s a lovely building with excellent view.
