The Alma Inn

We didn't realise that the price included breakfast when we booked so that was a very pleasant surprise. The breakfast was really delicious - great choices and really nicely cooked. We even ate it outside in the sunshine. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The pub is in a stunning location.

They had an odd policy of all courses of food arriving at the same time if you sat outside, so when we ordered dinner on arrival, our starters and pizzas arrived at the same time. There was no one around when we came to check out, so we were unsure what to do with the key, but we found a member of staff in the restaurant who was able to help, so not a big issue.

Location was beautiful. Views over the hillside, lots of outside space to eat and drink. The room was comfortable and a good size with a decent shower and everything was clean and tidy. Staff really welcoming as well, check in was easy. Breakfast served really quickly and was tasty plus there was plenty of choice and the evening meal menu was great.

Only downside was that the room was really.warm on the night and the stand up fan provided didn't do much to cool it down. However it did end up being a particularly warm day so not much the hotel can do about that.

Overall, our stay was amazing. The rooms were clean & tidy, facilities to make a cuppa and the bed was extremely comfortable great nights sleep. Hot milk served with our morning coffee - WOW 10/10 for that alone. James could not do enough for us, breakfast cooked fresh to perfection with the dippiest eggs accompanied with banter complimenting the wedding guests choice of shoes with his shorts having forgot his footwear for the day after haha. The view surrounding was very country which we LOVE so peaceful. Belting stay will definitely return. Thank you

All the staff were friendly and very attentive to all our needs. It's a family run business and throughout our stay all staff were professional and courteous right down to the serving staff in the restaurant. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. The accomodation itself was very good quality and comfortable. The location is great, and looking across the beautiful countryside you know you are in the heart of Yorkshire.

I have nothing negative to say about our stay in the Alma Inn. However the narrow country lanes, are not for the feint hearted or inexperienced driver, but the hotel cannot do anything about this!

We stayed as a family in 3 of the beautiful garden rooms following a family wedding nearby. The rooms were so comfortable and immaculate & the views were stunning. As we were checking in there was a lovely atmosphere in the pub & the food smelt amazing .Breakfast was wonderful & just what we needed after the night before. We loved the attention to detail when the fab hosts offered to prepare a bacon sandwich for the journey home for one of our family members who didn’t make it to breakfast. We wished we could have stayed longer & will definitely aim for that the next time we are back in the area. Thank you so much!

Why this is 3 star I don't know at the very least is 4 or more Absolute gem of a place I booked only a few hours ahead and had a fabulous room with everything I needed including a fabulous view Exceptionally clean and comfortable . The pub and bar are great with lovely staff and a good menu. Breakfast seemed good but I only requested a couple of items which were nice Its a fairly long drive from Sowerby Bridge along narrow country lanes but it's definitely worth the journey

Gorgeous location, design and amazing food. Rooms were spotless, warm and had everything you’d need.

The only 2 very minor gripes are that the jets in the jacuzzi bath didn’t work, which was a shame as that would have been a lovely little luxury. Secondly (appreciate this is really petty) the mugs in the rooms were small so only gave you around 3 mouthfuls of tea/coffee, which after a long day trekking, it would have been nice to have a substantial pick me up!

Location was fantastic, room was more than adequate for our stay, Rosie was extremely friendly and helpful. Food was amazing . I would definitely consider staying there again if I’m in the area.

There stairs and our room having a shower and no bath were the only down sides but that’s only because my husband had just complete a very long run so his legs wasn’t doing too good 🫣. These points didn’t cause us any really problems and we wouldn’t call them bad points really.

All staff very friendly and welcoming. Location excellent although the small lanes driving up to hotel are bit scary. Breakfast was delish and lunch and evening meal.

Room was too small didn't like the shape or layout but was ok for one night would not of wanted to stay in same room for longer than one night. Although it was clean and bed comfortable. Understand that it was a dog friendly hotel but far too many dogs in the bar and for this reason I would not return to stay which is a shame as everything else was on point.

Stunning views over countryside from the room, food plentiful (in fact you may consider sharing a main course,)and tasty, pleasant people, landlady was very welcoming. Make sure your sat nav is up to date lots of little twisty steep lanes.

It can be noisy to eat on a Friday, and the music on Friday got very loud even in rooms away from ba, other nights it was fine
