The Comet London Hatfield

With a car it's a very good location near to major road links and plenty of parking. Room itself was very comfortable, well designed - everything thought of. Nice mix of teas provided (and coffee) as well as biscuits, all replenished each day. Windows that opened, that was brilliant. Quiet (some noise of traffic, but completely quiet with windows closed). Friendly, relaxed staff on reception and in the restaurant. Nice dinner.

Don't think this is anything the hotel can address - the multiple large and busy roundabouts outside the hotel were fine when you'd been round them a few times, but on first attempt we missed the entrance! (long journey, getting dark)

Room was excellent, clean and tidy. We actually left a waistcoat hanging in the room when we checked out, but the staff found it and packaged it for us, we sent over a label via royal mail and we got it back with no stress. We had an issue with our kettle, but the housekeepers and reception sorted this. The team were friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was below par. Poor selection of hot food, only scraps left in the hot hold when there was still over an hour of service left. Only scrambled eggs out, as a milk allergy sufferer it was a shame as I had to order fried eggs. 2 came out, one snotty and the other over cooked. Went to season the mushrooms, 2 tables had no salt in their grinders. With 3 members of staff with a small amount of tables this should have not happened. Sausages and bacon nice, hash browns cold and hard. A shame as I would have expected better considering how lovely the room was.

There was a high standard of cleanliness. The room was a good size, with a good standard of decor and appropriately and sufficiently furnished. There was aircon and also a night light setting for the bathroom without having to have the noisy fan or intrusive lighting - this was impressive! The male member of staff I spoke to on the phone, to confirm when we would be checking in, was pleasant and helpful as were the two women on the desk when we left the next morning. Four hours free car charging for our EV car was very gratefully received!

The female member of staff who was on the desk when we arrived did not smile once, she was surly and abrupt almost to the point of being rude, She didn't make any attempt to engage with us and when I tried to engage with her (needing some help in accessing the car registration screen) all she said was 'Do you have a name?' We didn't have breakfast - because we felt it was too expensive. I didn't need a full meal and there was only one charge available. We hope there are more EV chargers planned. We were grateful to be able to get on one, but there are currently only two.

A beautifully renovated iconic building. We only stayed 1 night but this hotel exceeded our expectations. Ample parking, comfortable bed, air con, lovely bathroom, great dinner, lovely lovely staff. Nice and quiet. We were expecting a Wedding on a Saturday night but were pleased that this Hotel doesn’t cater for Weddings and so we had a wonderful nights sleep.

Whilst the presentation of the food in the restaurant is very pleasing…it does not make for comfortable eating when everything is in little bowls on a serving slate without a plate to tip it onto. We gave this feedback to the chef whilst there so hopefully they will rethink the presentation.

Very nice hotel, staff could not be more helpful, rooms very good specification and so quiet, fresh and clean. The 'night light' in the bathroom and wireless desk charging are pretty cool and very well thought out. Breakfasts are excellent and lots of choice , value for money - can't comment on dinner as I ate out , only a couple of days stay but the menus looked excellent. Lovely atmosphere in this hotel and I will definitely stay here again if doing business or on a leisure break that way 🙂

Location was perfect. Shower was large, beds were comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful (front office and housekeepers). Nice retro feel. Refurbished in 2019. Easy parking. Nice restaurant. Warm room with Nespresso machine and freebies. Separate reading lights by the beds. Very quiet.

A lift, we were on the second floor. A second chair in the bedroom. Control over the thermostat setting. Wi-Fi not secure (the service warns you). Feel that the hotel could make more of the 1930's vibe and the fact it almost shares the site with the historic DeHavilland airfield and planemaker.

Stylish hotel with plenty of parking. Easy to find from the motorway. Room decor felt very good quality, air con was efficient and it was a nice quiet stay event for a weekend. On site restaurant was smart, service was attentive (especially on the Sat night) and the food was cooked perfectly, arrived quickly and reasonable priced. Would definitely stay again.

Only downside is most of the accommodation seemed to be in the modern extension. However the new rooms were sensitive to the Art Deco feel. The remaining original features in the main building were stunning and nicely restored.

We were a long way from home and this was our first time in the area. The staff were amazingly helpful and lovely. The complimentary bottle of water and glasses in the room was a nice touch and I didn't expect toiletries for the price we paid. I also liked how the kettle, cups etc were arranged and it was these things that gave the room a homely and welcoming atmosphere. The evening menu was fantastic, the quality of food was very high and the waiters were extremely professional. I will definitely be back and hope to stay for longer on my next visit.

The hotel is so welcoming. From the receptionist who was so welcoming to the cleaners, who really take pride in the service they provide. My room was beautiful. Outstandingly clean and the bed was simply divine. I had a very peaceful stay and you really can’t hear other guests as the rooms seem so well insulated. The bar was a lovely place to spend time if your on your own as I was. I can totally recommend the Steaks on offer. The Bavette Steak was amazing. I hope to stay again soon as it was a total pleasure being there. Excellent Hotel.

The rooms where modern, clean, and had plenty of space. The hotel is situated by a shopping complex with a 5 minute walk. Plenty of places to eat, great if you have kids or just a couple get away. Staff and friendly and professional.

If you want sleep ask not to be put in the new building by the university garden has they party most of the night and you won't sleep well. Beds are big but very hard so if you like a soft mattress this isn't for you.
