Lovely warm welcome and was quickly showed to my room. I have requested a room with a bath tub and I was not disappointed! A very large roll top bath in the bedroom so was able to watch TV too! And there was plenty of hot water. The double bed was very comfy and the room beautifully decorated in a country theme.

Not sure if it stated on the booking page that the car park is now a marquee, so was a little disappointed that I had to park on a residential road (this was right behind the pub with a cut through the grave yard) didn’t bother me too much, but not sure it would be a practical solution for a family with young children. Also the pub has an excellent offering of food and beverages yet there were no menus in the room.

Lovely big bed, very comfortable, nice big bathroom. No parking though it cost us £15 to park over the road in a,car park. Only other issue was the milk for tea and coffee was kept in a fridge on the landing and shared with other guests, whilst it's nice to have tea in the morning with fresh milk it's so so good when another guest uses it and does not return it to the fridge promptly for the other guests to use. No breakfast so cannot comment, overall felt it was pricey for what it offered.

Great location within easy reach of all local amenities. The room was beautiful, huge, comfortable bed, luxurious bathroom, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Despite being on the main road there was little or no traffic noise which made for a very comfortable night's sleep.

Only reason not to give this ten points was lack of breakfast facilities, which considering there is a restaurant on site is something of a shortcoming. This was not obvious at the time of booking, which in turn I think makes it somewhat expensive for what you get.

The room was a good size, as was the ensuite bathroom. We had a window to outside looking onto the side of the property. The shop next door had a flashing lit-up sign on all night which I was afraid might make it hard to sleep, but it didn't. The bed was plenty large enough - bigger than ours at home. The room was a pleasant temperature, and the bathroom had its own heating in the form of a well-heated towel rail.

It would have been quite nice to have two cups and glasses on the hospitality tray, but after years of marriage I'm sure sharing a cup won't do us any lasting harm.

spacious well appointed room which was clean and with comfortable bed. nice pub though we did not sample the food as we were meeting friends. staff seemed very friendly.

bit disappointed that there was no pub car park which had been given over to outdoor drinking and smoking. unfortunately our bedroom was just above a relatively busy outdoor seating area and music and loud chatter went on until 11.20. we phoned the bar and they obligingly turned off the music.

No breakfast served here!!! The room was very nice, clean and well presented.

No breakfast available, recommended to use cafe. No evening meal available after 7pm again local alternatives suggested. Although we were given a room away from the main road there was constant noise from a generator ot extractor fan, which meant that the windows could not be left open. No parking available had to rely on public parking and therefore had to move car. Main street access door didn't appear to lock and was left unlocked throughout the evening/ night which is a security issue. No hairdryer in the room. Didn't like walking through bar and having to find a staff member to assist us

Clean, comfortable and compact. As I was down for a family occasion, I only spent time in the room sleeping and getting changed. Bedroom ample sized. Bathroom a might be a bit small for two people, but was fine for me. There was a noise, possibly from ventilation system in pub kitchens, but ear plugs blocked it out and I had a good sleep on a comfortable bed. No chance of a long lie on Sunday, as there's a church at the back, with over enthusiastic bell ringers! However, that is not the fault of the inn. Managed to get extra tea bags and a sheet, as duvet was quite thick for warm room at night. Staff were courteous and efficient. Great location on main street, with choice of cafes for breakfast - I went to brew and cru, which is a couple of minutes walk across the road. There's a Sainsbury's and M&S food, a couple of minutes away, for any other requirements. Milk available in communal fridge for tea/coffee supplied in room. Also, a selection of complementary shower gel, shampoo etc.

Maybe a wee bit pricey for the overall facilities, and lack of breakfast, but I knew that before I booked.

This is a wonderful pub/hotel in Harpenden. The rooms have been renovated and are to a high standard. The location is very central to all that Harpenden has to offer. There is a good selection of ales behind the bar and the owner/manager is very friendly - he met me after closing (around12:00am) and we had a chat over a pint while he finished up closing for the night. The Sunday roast was great too.

Quaint inn with rooms. If you want the English experience this place is for you. The decor was unique for each room and nicely done. I had the Flamingo room which had a nice large bathtub. (Not all rooms do) My room overlooked the patio and the church. The staff was absolutely FANTASTIC! Short walk to the Train station. We felt safe just walking around.

Minor issues that I could easily overlook.. Only 2 hangars in the armoire. You can hear the pub patrons until around Midnight. *We were down there too sooooo* If you don't like that and go to bed early on the weekends. This place is not for you. The church bells will chime on Sunday morning.. Things we did not know as first time travelers to the UK. Pretty much all dining stops by 10pm. Even pizza places. Stores are closed between 5-7. Some pubs serve food until closer to 10 however. Eat early.

All good, great location and very comfortable. unfortunately there was no food on offer the day stayed but you are right on the high street so no issue.

It was fine. On site parking would make a huge difference. parking in the High St at 1730 is almost impossible. I spent 15 mins looking for a spot and just my luck it was raining so not a great walk to the accommodation. I knew about the parking before booking so that's not a complaint just a observation.
