We were due to stay in St Albans but the original accommodation cancelled on us, and we were glad they did when we stayed at Hyde Mill instead. Katie did a wonderful job throughout from beautiful breakfasts - fresh berries, melon, pineapple etc; yummy yoghurts; cereals; a variety of cooked breakfasts - through to a really comfortable, clean and very pleasant room and bathroom. Hubby was particularly pleased with having a bath (& shower) having been in Europe where they tend not to have baths available. The accommodation is quiet too. The bath towels are proper bath sheets, thick and quality. I was able to catch up on all my laundry too with only a very reasonable contribution required. (Thank you Katie) Katie was very helpful with any enquiries during our stay. The property is in a nice farm setting with duck pond, geese and horses around. Picturesque. Not far from St Albans, Harpenden and Luton to the north.

Hyde Mill Farm is an equestrian location nest to the River Lea, south of Luton and north east of Harpenden. We only really appreciated the location fully when we left by daylight in the morning, having arrived in the evening after dark with snow lying. The accommodation is in a converted stable yard: the stables are the bedrooms each with superb en suite bathroom, and there are also self contained units. The bedrooms themselves are nicely finished and furnished. There is parking in the yard, outside the rooms. Katie, our hostess, showed us to our room and explained the system for the automated gate that requires an entry code after 8 pm, so that we could go out to find supper. In the morning, she provided us with a very nice full breakfast with fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, coffee/tea and toast available.

The underfloor heating kept us too warm, but then we could have opened the window!. There was nothing not to like.

Property was fantastic , driving over the bridge and been greeted by ducks was very cute ,Katie was very accommodating as we wanted to check in early ,

I can honestly say there was nothing to dislike about this property the apartments are high end , the breakfast was absolutely fantastic from the fresh fruit salad to the freshly cooked breakfast with high quality ingredients, I have stayed in 5 star hotels who couldn’t compare to the Quality of Katie’s food

The location was good. The room was really nice. Underfloor heating was great in the winter.

I would have preferred to have been able to check in when suited us not when suited the owner. (or to collect the keys from somewhere if they didn't want to stay up until 11pm on a Saturday) But instead we had to add 3 hours on to hour journey earlier in the day using the M1 on a busy Saturday just so the owner could give us keys at a time that suited them.

Lovely place, part of an old farmyard. Free parking, wasy to find (I was staying locally for work and booked last minute). Plenty of space and nice views. Comfortable bed, facilities fine. Fridge and microwave and cutlery etc - no sink but owner washes up in the day for you. I was offered breakfast but as am vegan had taken my own. Was offered fresh milk for fridge - again didn't use this (owner retrieved so as not to waste - great!), but a lovely touch.

Really my only feedback is that at 8am the door to the property is unlocked so guests can use the corridor for breakfast room access. I totally appreciate this but as I didn't know it was a bit unnerving on the first morning to find the door unlocked! Otherwise a nice place to stay. Would be nice to have an outdoor area to relax in but it was raining when I was there.

Quiet, clean comfortable twin room with kitchen facilities & superb wet room/shower. The summer light duvets and crisp linen added greatly to our comforts. Katie our host was most helpful and approachable. Beautiful setting with horses, geese and ducks to admire. Leisurely walk to Harpenden Town where we got the train to London for some sightseeing. Convenient too for Luton Airport.

The location is perfect, close to our base for 3 days as my brother and I attended a knife making course. Room had to be changed when we arrived, but was done so with the minimum of fuss and all done with a smile. Rooms spacious, beautifully finished, great beds. We both slept really well. A lovely breakfast too

Nothing. Nice to drive into the property and have ducks meet you in the morning, and rabbits at night!

Beautiful setting in the countryside near Harpenden. We enjoyed the wildlife on the millpond, and the apartment we were in was well appointed and nicely modernised. Katie was a very friendly host.

The breakfast didn’t cater for a vegan diet, although we didn’t notify in advance. The wet room type shower meant the whole ensuite floor got wet if you took a shower.

Very clean room and bathroom in a converted stable. Comfortable bed and a lovely warm shower. It was great to have fresh milk provided in the room instead of UHT packets. Amazing fresh home cooked breakfast - I would completely recommend the full English. Not much phone signal but wifi worked really well. Near to a road but it wasn't busy so slept wonderfully.

I loved everything - nothing extra to add.

The rooms are lovely and spacious, with everything you need in them (including biscuits!) The bed was extremely comfortable, and you can just tell everything is done with quality in mind. I really like the layout of the converted stable block, it almost feels like you’re in your own apartment. Plus Hyde Mill is dog friendly, which is great as there are some really good walks and pubs in the area.
