The place is beautifully located: you can start your walk across the peaks straight from the bedroom. Heather was smelling awesome in the summer sun. Amazing views only 30 mins into your walk. The bedroom was roomy (but perhaps not suitable for families with more than one child given the type of beds provided). Clean. Quiet. Peaceful. The food is fantastic and great value for money. We really liked that aspect (two adults, one 6 years old, one 15 years old). You can actually walk to the wild swimming gorge nearby. Pretty woodland. Walks that can extend along the river. Try the shower gel. Best smells ever - and I travel quite a bit.

We were told only a week before travelling that the restaurant was closed after 5 (so no dinner and no drink - we had late lunch instead). Breakfast was starting only after 9. All because if a function that booked the entire restaurant. The staff tried to be friendly but they looked stressed and one really want keen on us being around eating between 4 and 5 pm. It felt we were in their way. The morning wasn’t that much better in terms of staff being welcoming. I felt stressed myself about these restrictions.

A lovely pub/guest house full of character and nicely refurbished in a great location, views west over the peaks were especially good and you can sit outside (though not eat) at tables with this view, other outside tables closer to the building are available to eat at. I really liked the ambience of the pub and dining rooms, though we actually sat outside as it was so hot. The room itself was nice inside. Dinner was good and breakfast was even better. Attentive staff on arrival.

Room little on the pricey side. A bit of a wait for breakfast, but it was worth the wait. The hotel is on a road intersection, with plenty of people visiting the area including bikers and vintage car enthusiasts, so the room was a little noisy.

The staff were welcoming and the family room was spacious and clean. We could park the car right outside the room so it was handy to get our belongings to the room with ease. As it was a busy weekend some food on the menu wasn’t available on the first night’s stay. Second night dinner was much better. They had a good selection of food on the children’s menu, my son loved the chicken goujons and chips. Selection of food on the breakfast menu was good but was guttered when each person could only select one item from the menu. All on all we had a pleasant stay. The location was perfect for the sights we visited.

Could hear other guests in their rooms at night but wasn’t very disruptive.

The staff were exceptional, they were very friendly and helpful. Upmost effort was put in for customer service.

The room. Number 10. What we didn't like was the position ofThe room. The room itself was comfortable and spotless. However it was situated over the kitchen and overlooked the bins. Unfortunately when we first arrived and entered our room, there was really loud music blasting away. The floor and furniture was actually vibrating. Having consulted the Assistant Manager. The problem emanated from the kitchen. He put a stop to it, but after our evening meal trying to relax in our room was impossible! Ultimately with me telephoning down stairs at 10:45 to get the music stopped. This for us spoilt our experience....

Loved it...great location for exploring the Peaks...they have a great team who looked after me throughout my stay. Food was hearty and scumptious just what i needed after my early morning starts heading out into the Peaks. Having my full english breakfast by the log fire was the perfect remedy for a wet morning in the hills... Room was spacious and comfortable... Overall the perfect location for my trip to the Peaks to catch the Autumn colours with my camera....spot on.

Wi-fi was not so good as i couldnt do some of my work...which meant i couldnt finish my project.

Hotel management was extremely helpful and very hands on. Food was excellent and well priced. Sited on the edge of Dales with wonderful walks from the hotel. Popular at weekends but there was sufficient staff to cope. Dogs and muddy boots friendly.

There was no wardrobe in our room, just a short hanging rail with only drawer. Obviously no lift so if you can’t carry your luggage upstairs check there is a ground floor room available.

We had an amazing stay - the room was beautiful, the staff were really friendly and the location was ideal. The bonus was how amazing they were with my mum who is coeliac so needs to eat gluten free. Other places don’t always understand, whereas the people at Fox House were amazing and so accommodating. We’ll definitely be coming again and just a huge thank you!

It was perfect, there was nothing we didn’t like.

Lovely inn with a lot of history and character. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. They also have an exceptional restaurant with a rather fancy menu: it looks like the whole neighbourhood comes there to dine and celebrate special occasions. Plenty of walks around and even an estate where walks are easy and enjoyable even with small kids.

The Internet connection didn't really work for me at all and only worked for my partner in the restaurant area.

The recent redecoration was excellent and the building is delightful. The bathroom and shower were lovely, the bed and sofabed were very comfortable, and the room was quite large with two good-sized windows. But the best two attributes were the food and the staff. There was a good range of food available on the menu which tasted lovely and was beautifully presented. Rebecca and all the staff were very accommodating, very helpful and always smiling. The hotel is also located right next to the Longshaw Eastate, which has some scenic walks and a lovely cafe. It's also very close to Padley Gorge with its ancient oak trees and huge boulders - it has to be one of the most fascinating gorges to walk in the UK

There was only one thing I thought was poor - the furniture in the bedroom was of surprising poor quality. Instead of a wardrobe, there was just an open rail, and only one small cupboard for clothing.
