Lovely hotel. Room was excellent. Food was really good 👍

Parking for residents rooms could be allocated as the carpark was full and lots of people trying to park. Managed to squeeze in a corner space.

Lovely hotel in the heart of the Peak District. Wonderful staff, very professional, courteous and helpful. Room was beautiful, very eclectic decoration (just my style) but really comfortable. Nice big bed! Also very clean. Pub and restaurant were also wonderful with a great selection of food and drinks. Location is perfect for exploring the Hope Valley region of the Peak District. We'll be back!

The hotel is next to a busy road so earplugs are recommended if you are staying in a room at the front of the hotel (I never travel without them). The music in the pub area was also audible from our room, but it was switched off promptly every night at 11pm so did not disturb sleep too much.

My partner and I took my 89 yr old mum for a cheeky break at this lovely hotel. The staff are all happy , friendly, competent and very professional. Katie had seen my enquiry as to whether there was a walk in shower in mum's room and personally provided a brand new bath safety mat for mum to use. Little touches mean a lot. The staff are an absolute credit and genuinely seem to care for each other in the team and nothing is too much trouble. We were even given staff brollies to use for the evening when we went out. Would recommend every aspect of the hotel.Great location, parking on site , quality furnishings, comfortable beds, stylish rooms etc etc!

Maybe the wait to be served breakfast could have been quicker. Having said that , we were greeted immediately and drinks arrived with juice within minutes. But the whole meal took around an hour and having booked for 9am, we were still there at 10am The food was, however, worth waiting for!

I stayed at the George for two nights. The standard room given was lovely, comfortable mattress, lovely attention to detail and clean. However at 3am the room next door woke me up with very loud music and they guy was relucted to switched it off eventually he did after a complaint. The management apologised for the inconvenience caused and when I returned from my training course they offered me a suite room without the charge. This room was beautiful. Very quite, had a big bath in the room and beautiful attention to all the details to make your stay very special. I felt very well looked after while I stayed there. Breakfast was delicious. Great food at the restaurant too and in a great location. Definitely I will come back to stay with them.

Nothing.

This a wonderful hotel in a very nice building situated in a wonderful large rural village. Easy to find and easy safe parking. All members of staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive - five stars to them. I was in room 12 - all spotless - recently stylishly refurbished to a very high standard. Good television, very comfortable bed, excellent bathroom. A nice restaurant. Very good breakfast and they know how to make proper tea. I had just one meal which was cooked to a very high standard - much better than one might expect. I strode into the kitchen and thanked the chef I was so impressed. There is a nice comfortable bar which seemed popular. One hundred yards away is the the open-air pool. Lots of beautiful rural walks in spectacular countryside. Sheffield just twenty minutes away. I shall return.

Not sure why the accommodation has a 3 star rating - the facilities are excellent, the rooms are decorated beautifully with really modern appliances and one of the best shower pressures I've had whilst away! The pub food was also delicious - a bit expensive mind so if you're looking for cheap and cheerful their restaurant may not be for you. The breakfast which was included was ok - big portions! Finally the location is excellent - only a short drive away from the scenic Stanage Edge and another relatively quick drive to Castleton, where you can go on a circular walk to Mam Tor for some amazing views!

Met with a smile by the receptionist. Always a good start. The room, as usual, was immaculately clean. Was going to eat out but decided at the last moment to eat in the restaurant. We were not disappointed. A very good, tasty and affordable meal. Our breakfast was equally as good, and was served by the receptionist from the previous day, still with a smile on her face. Will return in the near future.

Not a great lover of having our four legged friends on hotel premises, though the four that were observed there were well behaved and caused no trouble at all. There appeared to be a shortage of bar staff. The sole lad who was there was rushed off his feet but did an admirable job nevertheless.

When I walked into my room, I gasped with pleasure. The room's décor was hip and funky and all of the linens were of great quality. The room was large and airy. The bathtub was big and had great water pressure. I could not have been more pleased. I ate in the dining room for breakfast every day, and the food was delicious and well prepared. The real treat was the Sunday Roast; because I'm a vegetarian, I ordered the Vegetarian Wellington with roasted vegetables. It was perfectly prepared with a lovely flakey crust, just sublime! I will definitely stay here in the future if I am ever lucky enough to return to beautiful Hathersage!

Breakfast was decent quality, the full English was good and generous, but the plant based option looked like a dieter's meal! The deal gave us one dish off the menu and tea/coffee and juice. There was no extra toast/bread on offer and no way to re-fill your beverages. It just seemed a bit mean! The restaurant was good for dinner and very popular, we had to book. The food was good quality and the service was efficient and pleasant.

The bed was too hard for my comfort, it felt like I was sleeping on a plank! The room was on the front and traffic noise was an issue in the morning. The bar was pleasant and had a good selection of ales.

We choose this hotel because of their gluten free options and the fact that they have gluten free lager on tap, which is a rarity. Husband is coeliac, so this is a real treat. The hotel is lovely and comfortable.

I personally find the hotel overly warm, I accept that other people would love this, we just turned the radiator off in the room and had windows opened. It is a little noisy, was surprised at the amount of traffic going through Hathersage overnight and seemingly at speed, I am a light sleeper , but that’s just me, doesn’t put me off staying.
