Very helpful staff... Excellent location Great breakfast 😋 A good menu catering for all. Good selection of beer 🍺 Wide selection of accommodation for solo, couples, and families. Good quality towels and bed linen ♥️ Loads to see and do in the area, so you will be kept busy.

The dungeon bedroom is beautiful, but there is no electric blind for this sky light window, unfortunately. Maid Marion window blind is not quite big enough and could do with some curtains as this room gets the early morning sun. The window faces the street with a bus stop opposite because of the size of the window and street view. The window could do with a privacy glazed film over the bottom foot/foot and a half. Blinds on windows very often still need a curtain just to keep the light out, especially on summer mornings 🌄

Great location, comfortable bed, big room and bathroom with great walk in shower. Excellent home cooked buffet breakfast and friendly staff, especially the young lad who works behind the bar.

The hotel rooms are equipped for a 2 night stay, however we were there for 5 nights and it was quite disappointing to learn there was no housekeeping for 5night stay and the floor and bathroom got quite dirty and the bins were full. Also there is a lack of storage in the room, with no drawers or dressing table and only has a small clothes rail. We would also recommend some hooks on the back of the door to hang coats on.

Great place. Location is ideal, and there are some amazing walks on the doorstep. Excellent breakfast. Dog friendly, the experience of our four-legged friends was also important, dog treats in the bar, and leftover sausages for breakfast. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with the owner. What a lovely lady, her motivation is that her customers have the best time and are catered for. Lovely rooms, with everything you need for your stay, bath robes, toiletries, etc. We will definitely return. Thank you!!

We couldn't find fault at Little John.

Perfectly located for us as we were attending a wedding at the nearby Brookfield Manor. The cottage suited us very well and had good facilities, comfortable beds and mostly well equipped for us.

There was some noise from the back of the hotel (emptying of bottles early morning and noise from what I guessed was the extraction fan in the kitchens). Even though the cottage was very well equipped for most things there was nowhere to hang up coats (these were mostly wet when we came in from the rain). It would also have been good with some drinking glasses (for water, juice etc.) - only large wine glasses were provided.

My husband and I stayed in a pet friendly room with our labrador. We found the room very clean on arrival, no sign of any pets staying there previously. Good-size room, enormous bathroom, good shower, comfy beds but waaay too many pillows, had to pile them all on an armchair. Had the view of the car park but the facade was generously decorated with multicoloured geraniums so the view was actually very pretty. Good full English breakfast but not enough fruit, only had blueberries when we were there. Great location, quiet rooms, spacious car park.

We stayed there at the beginning of August but it was a very wet week and would have been nice to dry our clothes and towels but the heating was off, the towel rail wasn't working either. Tried asking the staff, who was hard to find, maximum one person at the bar, but their advice didn't work. We only stayed two nights so didn't bother anymore. Had dinner at the restaurant once. Found the portions very generous but the quality was lacking. I ordered bangers and mash, got 4 (!) quite tasty sausages on a huge pile of absolutely inedible mash potatoes under some very weird tasting instant gravy.

Absolutely loved everything about this hotel, the staff were amazingly friendly, the room (The Dungeon as it was named) was wonderful, high ceilings, skylight, tallest bed I have ever slept on and no shackles and Iron Maidens on any of the walls as the rooms name suggested, which was a relief ;) Breakfast was good, lots of choice and self service so eat as much as you like, we missed dinner the night before so had to eat in the George over the road, complementaries were really good. Couldn't have asked for a better stay anywhere.

There was nothing we didn't like about the Little John Hotel.

Room was clean, well lit and warm. Plenty of room to spread out gear. Plenty of sockets for charging equipment like cameras, phones, etc. Shower was exactly what was needed at the end of a long day wandering. Having a kettle for a hot drink at the end of a cold rainy day was very much appreciated. Location was perfect. I stayed in one the buildings 20 seconds way from the main pub entrance, so I could come and go as I please. Hathersage is small, but the pub is in the middle of the village.. The pub serves good food (I tried the cheese and bacon burger, and the pepperoni pizza), and there are several other establishments all within a few minutes (check for closing times, because whilst the Pub is open every day, not everywhere else is, like the fish and chip shop). There is a onestop shop 30 seconds up the road, which sells all the basics you’d need. Everything you need, is really close by. The train station is a couple of minutes away, and the bus stop is even closer, so accessibility to anywhere you want to go, is relatively easy.

Nothing I can think of

Rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable enough for a night. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was of a good quality and sufficient to set us up for the day. Our room had a nice view over the roofs of the town to the hills. Location was nice but we did not have opportunity to explore much as this was a stopping off point on a long journey.

Steep stairs and changes of level even with the rooms which would make the stay difficult for anyone with accessibility issues. I guess we were in old part of the inn (which dates back to 19th century) so it would be difficult for owners to do much about this. My aunt and Mum stayed in twin room which didn't have a window to outside but just a skylight. Probably would not wish to stay longer than a couple of nights maximum in these rooms to be honest. Car park is very cramped and we had difficulty getting a spot when we arrived.

It was clean and the high bed was very comfortable. It was not far from the train station which makes it a great base for exploring the peak district without a car. I really liked the architecture of the building, it was very traditional. The breakfast was traditional English. They let us store our luggage with them before check-in which was really nice because then we could already go hiking

One thing that was unfortunate was that the tv remote control wasn't working, but to be fair we did not bother asking the staff for help because it was already very late. The radiator and the ceiling beams were quite dusty though the rest of the room was clean

Warm welcome by Chris when we arrived, shown to a lovely little cottage in a tucked away picturesque stone courtyard, dogs were welcomed, property was clean, facilities good, bed comfortable, great location, perfect evening sat outdoors for our dinner. Chris and chef arranged a special vegan option for us.

The floor in Squires Cottage was incredibly slippery, we did have a couple of near misses. We do appreciate that this was because the tiles were wonderfully clean but just thought it worth mentioning in case someone does come to harm slipping on the hard tile floor
