The County Hotel

Great location and wonderful value. Friendly staff. The shower was very powerful, which in a very soft water area is a welcome rarity. The bed was comfy, a little hard but I like that in a bed so it was good, a good sized bed as well for the two of us. The room was recently modernized too which was good, plus the WiFi was free!

The room was quite small, not that it matters as we were only sleeping there but it was cosily small. Also, there was a lot of traffic noise but I expected this being right in the town centre. I get traffic noise where I live at the moment so it didn't phase me too much

Room was absolutely perfect size for the 4 of us.. Nice big telly only downfall is the telly wouldn’t connect to the WiFi so my kids could watch kids programs for a little while. Other than that can not fault the room.

The food was awful, our first night I ordered a chicken burger and the chicken come out over cooked and like a rubber ball for a dog.. Being a chef serving food to customers of that standard isn’t very good.. Breakfast the sausages were all over cooked, very hard and very dry.. Not much choice for breakfast no mushrooms tomatoes hash browns etc. Saturday morning and night we ended up going elsewhere for food.

Location was good. Hotel room was very clean and well decorated. Good breakfast. Hotel staff, helpful and friendly.

Decor in the room was fresh and modern and it was clean and felt well looked after. Bed was comfortable. Hand soap and shower gel were good: no unnecessary single use plastics, was nice to have it available in pumps on the wall and it smelt really nice! All the necessary tea and coffee making facilities in the room, with biscuits and bottled water too. Friendly, helpful staff, good bar, great breakfast and a perfect location for what we needed with onsite parking.

No complaints but unfortunately chef was unwell, so an evening meal wasn't available as originally indicated when we enquired on our second night, however, helpful suggestions were given, so we enjoyed a nice meal out nearby instead. The shower was also rather difficult to operate without needing to stand underneath, thereby freezing then scalding yourself in trying to find the correct temperature! Minor faults though in an otherwise great, small and friendly hotel.

Having stayed in the County Hotel on several occasions previously, we were looking forward to staying again. Having driven the car non-stop for nearly 300 miles... it has been a welcome rest the evening before sailing from Fishguard the next morning. Food was always good too...

My main complaint this time was food, or the lack of availability. Having enquired as to lunch, we were informed that lunch was not available but that evening meals would be served. After getting some rest for a few hours, we went down to get a meal, as on previous visits, only to be told no food would be served. If we had been told this earlier, we could have looked for a restaurant elsewhere. Luckily, we were able to pick up a chicken burger from the chippy next door. When checking out, not even a by or leave given, which is a normal courtesy in any area of the hospitality industry. The cleaning staff and the lady who served the breakfast were very nice, I have to say, very nice to talk to.

We topped and tailed our holiday in Ireland by staying at The County Hotel, as it’s conveniently only 20 minutes from the ferry port. The rooms are very well appointed and clean with everything you would expect. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I would like to single out Fay and Lauren who really went the extra mile for my family of weary travellers. The breakfast was really well cooked and the feeling of the overall service was warm and welcoming. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you for being a big part of making our holiday so wonderful and memorable.

The friendliest pub hotel I’ve stayed in! This hotel surprised me with how nice it was: comfortable bed, strong shower, great amenities, super friendly staff! Check in and out was really easy too and the room was nice and quiet. The local town had plenty of shops and takeaways too so great location.

The parking isn’t great, we couldn’t find an obvious car park (I don’t think there was one but can’t be sure as arrived after dark). We parked on the high street which didn’t feel especially secure, we had no incidents though and locals we met were very friendly! Overall, a great place to stop over as we did :)

Perfect for our needs. We arrived in Fishguard on the ferry. Hotel was about 50 min drive away. Reception stayed open (as previously communicated) until our arrival and greeted us warmly. Knowing we were coming late they had kept a parking space for us in their relatively small car park. A nice touch. We were travelling with a mid-sized dog, who was also warmly welcomed. Our room was large and easily accommodated three adults and dog.

Breakfast, while plentiful, was a little predictable and over cooked - shame! Though they did provide for gluten intolerance.

it was two minutes from work. the staff were super friendly even when I rang before I arrived as I could find the car park. I stayed for three days and each day someone came in and tidied the room, replenished the tea and coffee and even hung my towels up. beautiful place too, owner was super friendly and even let me use a different exit to get to my car as it was really Icey outside. there were Christmas parties going on in the restaurant when I was there (Friday - Monday) and I you would never have known. you can’t hear anything going on in the pub/restaurant when your in your room. will definitely be returning to this hotel when I work at Withybush hospital again and I would certainly recommend this hotel to other agency workers.
