Whistlefield Inn

We love the aesthetic of the property and the cosy Scottish traits it holds. The property is beautiful with stunning views of Loch Eck and the surrounding areas. The hotel staff were also exceptional, with delicious food and beverages. Thank you Lisa for telling us about the trails to hike around the Inn and for being so kindhearted during our stay 😊 We would also like to extend a personal thank you to Rhiannon, a staff member and Gin expert. If you’re fond of gin and good conversation, she was the one to converse with. Thank you for taking such good care of us on our stay.

There was nothing to dislike. For us it was perfect.

The location was stunning, and the scenery was beautiful. The inn itself was lovely and had a warm atmosphere, the room was nice and cosy, just what me and my wee man needed. The staff were all really nice, very friendly and helpful. We had dinner the first night and breakfast both days, all well presented, and they weren't shy on portions, no complaints there. Great location with short drives to walking routes, you can walk there but that would have been too far for the wee man.

Don't think we had any complaints about anything, might try get a room with loch view next time.

It was exactly what we were looking for when we set out. Remote, dated, cozy, it felt like coming home. We arrived late in the night and were greeted by name. Lisa reopened the kitchen to prepare us lunches for the next day as we were hiking and would miss breakfast. And despite being so remote, the kitchen was really interesting and diverse. Good vegan options, organics, etc. We had a vegan in our group and he was treated to some good meals.

I'm not sure how much is close by. But we hiked about an hour from the place. You would need to research better if you wanted things to do nearby.

the remoteness was a big win for us. the hotel is as cute as..the staff were excellent..breakfast was very good. the room was outstanding and beautifully appointed...the bar was just the most perfect west coast cosy place you could hope for.

the menu for evening meals was a bit limited. In my opinion the chef needs to stop trying to make curry. I found the selection to be a bit disappointing given the huge depth in local produce that surely is available. Lasagne and curry are for pubs in Glasgow I think...and are not what visitors to the countryside are looking for. that's my guess anyway.

The Whistlefield is amazing. The views across Loch Eck are simply stunning, the food is of excellent quality, the bar is very well stocked, rooms are lovely and the hotel itself is full of old world scottish charm. The staff are extremely welcoming and can't do enough for you from the minute you arrive. The Whistlefield is a fantastic place to just sit and relax in the old world scottish atmosphere. We stayed here as part of a week long tour of scotland and absolutely loved the place.. we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

What a lovely warm and comfortable Inn. Made to feel so welcome when arrived by Richard and rooms were ready early. Beds were so comfortable and the towels thick and fluffy. The food was excellent having the pub lunch, evening meal and then breakfast in the morning. Prices were affordable and you get good sized portions. Had a good range of drinks and we all felt really looked after. Richard recommended a walk in Pucks Glen about 5 minutes drive away which was well worth a visit. Will definitely go back and recommend to friends.

Well presented room, with character whilst being clean and modern. We appreciated the full sized mugs provided in the room instead of the small cups usually found in hotel rooms. Also, whilst not something we wanted for ourselves, we were impressed by the provision of oat milk in sachets for vegan/non dairy guests. There was also a good selection of fruit /herbal teas in the room along with regular tea and coffee. The meals were fab and the staff very friendly.

The shower enclosure was very small.

Couldn't fault location, comfort, cleanliness and the food was fantastic. We booked just to get away for a few nights and found the staff welcoming from the start.

Surprised to find that room isn't made up when staying a few nights. First time I have experienced this. Would also like to sign a receipt for items added to room as no idea of costs at bar, and this would avoid anything being added by mistake.

Absolutely loved everything about this charming inn with incredible views. It was just a bit off the beaten path, offering a delightful alternative experience to the more touristy locations. The room offered incredible views overlooking Loch Eck. The staff was lovely and helpful. Charles was very personable and wonderful to talk with at the bar/restaurant downstairs when we arrived. The breakfast was delightful and delicious in a dining room overlooking Loch Eck and the mountains. We couldn’t have been happier with the choice to stay here.

Fabulous stay. Lovely warm welcoming atmosphere and all the staff were really friendly. Our dogs were made very welcome too. Comfortable bar area. Our room was warm and comfortable. Spotlessly clean and the bed was super comfy making for a great nights sleep. Food was amazing both at dinner and breakfast. Great location for visiting around Dunoon and surrounding areas. Would highly recommend The Whistlefield.
