The location was excellent, we had a super view from our room and the breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly and responsive, especially Jack in the bar. Although the weather was not great The Rosslea Hall Hotel has lovely grounds and would be a fantastic base to explore the area, ideally placed near to Helensburgh but not far away from the wonderful walks available in the area. A choice of bar menu or Restaurant food was available (we ate in the bar which was fine). Overall we would happily return to this Hotel.

Just a few niggles: Upon arrival the room was very hot, but we were unable to open the lower window as the window handle would not work. When we were out and about for the day and the room was serviced, the mugs that we had used when making a cup of tea had not been washed/replaced, and the tea bags and loo rolls had not been replenished either. We had to ask for these which were provided straight away, but the room service was a little disappointing. Little things but just stopped our stay from being faultless, otherwise a very comfortable stay.

Fantastic location right by Gare Loch off the Clyde. I thought I saw a nuclear submarine parked just outside, but apparently it was just a tug, that said this hotel had a bright beautiful and interesting outlook over the loch and the hills beyond. This is an ideal wedding reception venue, it made me regret never having married. The hotel is comfortable, smart, pretty and private too. I found the staff to be attentive, obliging and welcoming. The decor was smart and my room was impeccable in every detail. slashing breakfast and excellent staff. Easy parking too!

My sat nav sent me to a back wall with no clue where the entrance was. Thankfully Booking.com instructions were clearer so despite the hotel’s name sign being illegible in the dark, I eventually found the entrance in to a private enclosed garden hotel. There were bushes obstructing the view of the shore line. There was no lift which meant I had I lug my bags up two floors.

Beautiful location, quiet but easy to reach. Nice old building and garden, plenty of free parking. Very good breakfast served in a pleasant dining room. Lounge bar for those that don't want to venture out. Full bathroom en-suite, and the room was a decent size. There's a decent little pub a few minutes walk away for those that don't like being tied to the hotel

Need some kind of lift if only for luggage, the stairs are too twisty (we've stayed in places that had a 'Stannah' type stair lift just for the luggage). Our mattress needed a topper as it was a bit lumpy. Don't like the breakfast tea being served out of a thermos jug, that is just wrong

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rosslea Hotel. Worth knowing that half board option includes an allocation of £25 per person towards the evening meal. We just about managed two courses for that, depending on what we chose from the menus! Friendly staff - location very good and just 15 minutes to Loch Lomond. Local church bells chime every 15 minutes throughout the day and night - it didn't bother us but may be a problem for "light sleepers" Would definitely go back - suited us well

Outdoor garden furniture could do with replacing as wooden chairs were quite rickety

As a family with two young children, Rosslea was an excellent hotel - the staff were attentive and the breakfast was very good - we had a room which accommodated a cot with ease and then an unexpected adjacent twin room for our older child which was brilliant for space and privacy.

The room was really warm even with all the windows open on a very mild day. The room could have done with some minor refurbishment (lights working / damp on ceiling etc.) but nothing that hampered our visit.

We had a room overlooking the Loch, which was worth the small extra price. The room was comfortable, bed was fine and the bathroom had everything you could need. Added chairs were helpful, too. Access to room was smooth, unlike some we've experienced where the card fails.

Some aspects of furnishing were a little dated and little drawer space, but the restaurant for breakfast was bright and welcoming. It would have been nice to have had a jug or cafetiere for coffee instead of having to ask for a refill.

This hotel is very well situated. The housekeeping staff keep the hotel and the rooms very clean. The beds were comfy. The food in the restaurant - breakfast and dinner - was delicious. All staff are excellent.

The fabric of the hotel could do with some TLC. It's a well run hotel but could benefit from more investment in its fabric - it's a popular place for weddings and tourists to the local area and it could be exceptional with a little more money spent on it.

We thought the staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Although there was a twilight wedding happening in the venue we felt that it didn't affect our stay at all as the room was so quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.

When we sat at dinner they didn't have confirmation from booking.com about the dinner included. The waitress spoke to manager and she originally said it was a £25 per person supplement. I questioned this as this was not as sold and they sorted it immediately. Impressed

The biggest selling point for Rosslea are the incredibly friendly, welcoming and accommodating staff. They quickly changed our room to twin beds instead of a double when we asked and Christine went to the extra trouble of tailoring cocktails to our liking at the bar. The breakfast was well cooked and there was a good variety of options to choose from. The location was great and we enjoyed a stroll to and from Helensburgh eateries and shops along the seafront.

We stayed here for 1 night in July. Entrance to the driveway is a little tricky to find as it is not signposted. The hotel rooms were clean and spacious with a comfortable bed, and en suite bathroom. Staff very friendly and helpful. Scottish breakfast cooked to order with plenty of choice - lots of cereal, fruit, yogurt, fruit juice etc, very attentive breakfast staff. Overall a really nice stay and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel
