Woodberry Inn

This is our second stay at the woodberry, within 5 minutes walking distance into town. We were attending a wedding at another hotel, I called a week earlier to ask if the room would be available earlier than check-in time to change into our wedding outfits, the hotel said they would try their best & did, it was ready on arrival. They were also very helpful with taxi booking to the other hotel & gave us local taxi numbers & advised us to book ASAP which we did, there wasn't much availability. The room was modern & very clean although smaller than we previously had but it was only to get changed & sleep as we we out all day/night. Breakfast was delicious, cereals, full English & coffee. Staff were all friendly & professional.Definitely recommend!

Nothing to dislike!

Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, especially when we arrived. Food was delicious and the room was perfect for what we needed. The shower was hot and good pressure and everything was very clean and up to date. The atmosphere was great too, it felt like a real family pub with lots of regulars.

Only thing I could say was it was extremely hot in the room over night - but there was a fan supplied so it was our fault we didn't use it! We'd been at a wedding so I think if we were more sober we would have thought to put it on haha!

The food was really good. So much so that we had our evening meals there too. It was within a 5minute walk of the town and 10minutes to the steam railway. Parking was ok but they couldn’t guarantee you a space if you returned in the evening when they were busy.

As good as the food was there was no evidence of fresh veg on the menu. Plenty of salad. This is not a criticism just an observation from someone who is a vegetarian.

The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble, food was good, new menu started on our second night looked fab, unfortunately did not try, due to only booking our first night stay in restaurant and had some where un town booked, they were packed though 🙂

Just the emergency green lights in our top floor rooms are very bright when dark, if I'd had remembered my eye mask would have been ok,I know they are there for our safety but very big and bright for a bedroom, head under cover would have also suficed but not on a summer evening. Will not stop us returning though!

The breakfast was great,the staff were delightful, the inn was spotless and the room pristine. All facilities very very good.

The premium room we had overlooked the yard where the bins and empty casks were kept, there was a lot of noise after the inn had closed as staff were putting empty bottles in the bins and moving empty casks into the yard, also there was an extractor or fan that was very close to the room and constantly cut in and out all night.

Food not impressed breakfast this morning poor I asked for bacon 2 eggs eggs were fried together all fat floating on it bacon was burned an tasted of beef burger also one round of toast on your breakfast plate burned no other toast ,no side plates very disappointed with the food .the bed was clean but mattress you can feel springs in bed poor .

Lovely room good view too! . Modern facilities. Breakfast generally excellent - especially the poached/scambled eggs - personally not mad about the chargrilled toast though (burnt metal taste). They sometimes have entertainment at weekends and do eve meals (I didn't sample these). Friendly helpful staff.

Small table to write on plus chair to suit wouldn't go amiss in the room.

We were given a warm welcome and all the staff were very pleasant and ready to help if needed.The location was ideal for us as we like to have a walk to and from the centre. The breakfast included cereal, fruit juice and an excellent cooked breakfast, tea, coffee and toast.

There was nothing to dislike but I personally would have liked fruit and yoghurt as part of the breakfast.

Excellent breakfast, well cooked eggs and bacon just how I like it. The staffs was pleasant and helpful, alway have a cheerful disposition. I welcome the fact that it’s was not a large inn so I could relax just what was needed.

There is not need to write a long list of didn’t like, because the stay was exceptional. Sorry but there is nothing to complaint about in this regard. I know when I am satisfied and have value for my hard working cash

BREAKFAST WAS VERY TASTY AND SERVED HOT. SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. STAFF REALLY ATTENTIVE AND HELPFUL. MENU WAS GREAT. WE HAD SOUP WHEN WE ARRIVED BUT WALKED INTO TOWN AND HAD A CURRY. FOOD MENU CATERED FOR ALL.

THE ROOM WAS SMALL BUT HAD EVERYTHING YOU NEEDED. HAIR DRYER, SHAMPOO ETC. DIDN;T LIKE THE PILLOWS BUT THAT WAS THE ONLY CRITASISM.
