Staff very friendly and helpful. Couldnt do enough for you. Food exceptional and plentiful. Substantial packed lunch on request. Lovely garden and outside space to sit. Good car parking. Beautiful main building. Easy access to tourist sites.

Had Mews room. Friend found it noisy as on a road junction. Had twin room with pleasant upstairs lounge. Narrow bedroom downstairs with no ventilation. Windows didnt open so rather claustrophobic. . Really only suit able for single occupancy. Green light above the door irritating at bedtime but understand this is an HSE regulation.

The suite was spacious, clean. Bedroom was lovely, well decorated, clean. Bed was very comfortable. We slept very well. The downstairs was pleasant, fridge and hot drink facilities. The tv was very small, but we didn’t use it much. Shower was clean, but small. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant! Food was lovely, and reasonably priced. Had a lovely garden area, very big and spacious. Breakfast was okay. States full English but wasn’t really! Although what we had of it was nice.

Drinks were quite expensive! Breakfast is served very early from 7-9am. We did have breakfast but that was a little early for us. Your not able to check in until 2pm and have to be out by 10am the following morning. Breakfast was 1 sausage, bacon and egg with fried bread! Fried bread was extremely greasy! I missed having beans, mushrooms. Coffee was a bit too bitter.

This was a family reunion so we had a few drinks the garden and then in the bar. Our meal in the restaurants well cooked presented and served - although the latter service was a little slow. That was not a problem for this sort of meeting. The next morning, again, we had a light lunch in the pleasant garden behind the hotel.

While we liked all the staff, they were welcoming courteous and helpful and, as noted above, the cooking and service was good, we felt it to be just on the slow side.

lovely old coaching inn with many books and crannies and interesting decorations. superb garden including covered pergola. even more importantly the staff were all incredible. friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I took my 96 year old mum and they couldn’t have been nicer and caring of her.

due to the age of the building it wasn’t 100% accessible but if a few more grab bars were put in by the interior steps and a bannister put on the front steps that would make access much easier. grab bars in the showers would make them feel safer.

Charming and characterful old building, very cosy inside, rooms very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean, beautiful food from a talented chef.

small items such as only 1 window opened slightly in the room making it stuffy , and not given the option to eat evening meal in the dining room so had to eat in the bar with locals sat close by which was a little uncomfortable as they all clearly new each other and we felt like we were sat in amongst their conversation

Food was excellent and freshly prepared, with no pressure to have 3 courses. Staff very welcoming, friendly and efficient, we felt that they genuinely cared about making our stay enjoyable. High standard of cleanliness throughout. The bedroom was a good size, with comfortable seating and plenty of space for guests' clothing. Good wi-fi connection. Interesting old building with traditional decor in public areas. Large, well-kept garden with plenty of seating. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much, and would return.

There was only an over-the-bath shower, not a separate cubicle, although there was plenty of space in the bathroom to have installed one. This was inconvenient for a guest with minor mobility difficulties. To be fair, we never thought to check when booking. It was, however, difficult to get a consistent, acceptable water temperature in the shower, and the light over the bathroom mirror was nowhere near bright enough for applying makeup.

WOW. Home of the Modern Olmypics. This place is a real gem for any visit to Shropshire and ShrewsBury area. Staff are fabulous. Kind. Helpful. Local. The PIES...amazing Steak and Ale mash. Best I have had. Full up after. And the steaks looked amazing. Such a pretty place inside and out for a traditional English Village experience. For travellers you can see why its been a coaching Inn for hundreds of years. Give yourself an upgrade and have the Mews 2 Suite for less than a tenner- over two levels. Comfy sofas. Cinfy bed. Snuggly. Fridge in room which is a rarity now adays..so you can make your own ice and for snack and food storage. Make it a stay for a week. Don't think you would be dissapointed. Quaint decor with nice touches. Definitely be back.

No air conditioning in upstairs bedroom and small window got warm. TV very small. Maybe get a bigger one ? May be a problem taking someone disabled who can't get up the 10 steps to bed. But I think the venue would swap the beds downstairs for you as the room was big enough as the toilet is on the bottom floor of your room. And there is a ramp to get into garden too. And parking right there outside the Mews rooms.

Good location right on the road we take into Much Wenlock. Almost opposite is a very well stocked garage shop and as we had a fridge in our mews suite room, we saved the cost of a £12.50 breakfast. We've stayed before (my brother lives nearby and my niece got married there) and we were back for my great niece's christening. The mews suite rooms are very spacious - large bedroom upstairs and a roomy living room with sofa bed downstairs. Direct access to outside which our daughter and son-in-law (staying in the suite next door) appreciated as they have a baby and all the stuff that involves (travel cot, pram, etc.,).

When we checked in, I left strict instructions that we wanted the cost of our dinner to be added to our bill. This is because our son-in-law always races to get the bill and we didn't want him paying. However, the message wasn't passed on and he beat us to it and then refused to be reimbursed. We stayed on 30th April 2022 and it wasn't warm. We tried to put the heating on but it must have been on a timer so nothing - it was on when we got up in the morning but it was the night before that we wanted it. The shower room (on the ground floor) is tiny. We like the Gaskell Arms but it's like going through a time warp back 50 years or so. But that's rural Shropshire for you!

staff very approachable, room was very clean and large. Excellent choice of food and was well cooked. Room was a little hot but we were in a middle of a heat wave so not the hotels fault and they also had a wasps nest outside so were unable to eat outside on one night, but no matter.

The room-we were unable to open the windows too far and some we were unable to open at all, which in this heat was a bit of a nuisance. However apart from that it was fine.

A large comfortable room. All the food and drink was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful.

A handrail in the bath would be useful and rubber mat inside the bath when showering. The traffic outside the hotel was always heavy and noisy with lots of large lotties and farm vehicles.
