Holiday Inn Leicester City, an IHG Hotel

Lovely room, spacious and a large, very comfortable bed. Stand out feature for me was the stunning bathroom. Beautifully tiled, bright, spotlessly clean and a great shower, exactly what you want at the end of a long day or to start off the next day with a great warm feeling. Breakfast, the room it was served in, and the team of staff serving it were amazing, I've never been more impressed with a dining room or team of serving/waiting staff. Superbly professional in their dress, work ethic and customer service, great food and a stunningly designed eating/serving area. Took my opinion of the stay to a different level.

The adjacent car parking was extremely expensive and didn't feel particularly secure, which wasn't a great feeling. It also wasn't very clean. I feel the hotel should work more closely with the car park to remedy these issues for their customers.

Super friendly staff and the hotel is in a great location - walkable distance to the main locations in the city centre.

FELT UNSAFE. There is no parking and the parking in front of the hotel is a small fortune. The night we arrived the hotel was very busy and a bit too loud. Arriving late at night did not feel safe. The hotel locks the door and you have to present your card before entering. We were three ladies and didn’t feel safe - there was a guy close to the entrance (he was drunk) and in case we were being walking away from a dangerous situation, until we reach our cards could take precious time. It would be useful if staff just give a heads up to everyone to keep their cards at hand if they arrive after the hotel locks their door. Probably they lock up exactly because it might not be safe in the area.

The room was big and spacious and very clean

Can no longer park on site and the directions to the car park were confusing. I was driving around and around for 20 minutes to find it. I originally parked in the on site car park for 30 minutes and it cost me £3.50 for this short stay. Why have the hotel stopped guests parking on site for a revised price per day? Also why wasn't this made clear on the booking. I have stayed here on 2 other occasions last year and was able to park at a reduced rate.

Booking in good. Breakfast excellent. Always friendly and helpful staff. Extra milk provided on request for coffee in room Good view from room, nice and quiet - no street noise despite being near busy road. Bed really comfortable and roomy.

Room a little cool. Took a long time to respond to thermostat requirements. No instructions for thermostat, unsure if I did it correctly. Would have liked a card of instructions and information about breakfast times etc The Menu card didn't specify. Rather a long walk into the centre of the city for my Conference venue, and difficult crossing the very busy city Ring Road system. And it rained!!

Claire at checkin/check out, she was amazing. The room was massive, clean and inviting. The restaurant was well designed and the food selection was good. Parking for £6 per night available very close by through the hotel. Lobby, lifts, revolving doors et bar very clean and inviting. Dinner menu/ service lovely. Hotel is located very close to town.

Maybe the external color of the room doors, they seemed off but that’s a personal opinion.

Property was in good order, with good quality fittings, very clean. Staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful.

3 minor points. Property is surrounded by a major road system and pedestrian access to get across the roads into the city centre is not clear. Majority of parking is in the adjacent NCP car park which is expensive compared to the good value of the hotel. The shower pressure was very low and therefore it’s performance was disappointing compared to the rest of the hotels high standard.

Reception staff were great very welcoming and helpful whdn we checked in and out of the hotel. Breakfast was lovely. The staff at breakfast were great especially Shivani she made our morning. She was so friendly and attentive. Fabulous member of staff.

Tap in bathroom was loose. Shower curtain needs changing so did the voile in the bedroom. I was charged £4 for a pint of milk that I requested so my daughter could have a drink of milk before bed and so I could use it to make a cup of tea and coffee in our room. The staff member did apologise for the charge but I thought that was disgusting to charge this.

Central location, very clean, well sound proofed, helpful staff, air conditioning (on the hottest weekend so far!) everything we needed was there.

There was no clear sign saying how you got to the entrance of the hotel, it is on a roundabout encircled by a major road and we couldn't find he pedestrian entrance, causing us to spend the first day dashing across the dual carriageway to get to the vehicle entrance and go in that way. It was baffling! The staff were very helpful once we asked but there could do we being a sign so it is clear when you first arrive- we came on foot from the train station so had to work out how to get in before we even had the opportunity to ask at reception!

I loved everything, from the staff to my room! The bathroom was excellent and comfortable, the beds were amazing and the breakfasts were really tasty! I liked that there was still food available even after midnight.

The only thing I would say I didn't like was the way you walk into the hotel. It's not great if you just want to walk in there if you are walking from DMU or other places in Leicester besides the City center.

The stay etc itself was excellent and anything we needed was sorted as soon as possible in a very efficient manner

The only negative thing about it and it’s only a minor was the booking was for 3 people in one room and it wasn’t ready for 3 people as there wasn’t enough towels,glasses cups or milk to cater for 3 but as soon as we called reception it was sorted in an acceptable time so I wouldn’t give it a negative response.The other downside is the expensive parking cost
