Fieldhead Hotel by Greene King Inns

The room itself with a bath and shower, the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast. The location, the car park, the look of the hotel. These were all excellent.

Background equipment noise throughout the night in my particular part of the hotel. I did mention it when asked at my first breakfast but no-one returned to me with an explanation and the noise continued. It spoilt the stay. Next time, I would ask for a different room in a different part of the hotel. The choice on the evening meal menu was first class BUT there was no fish available in any form and as a non meat eater this made the choice very restrictive. I would have to check before booking next time as Halloumi Fries three nights running was not very healthy.

Stayed here for a night before my son had athletic trials so wanted somewhere quiet and chilled. Checking in was lightening fast and so nice to get a warm welcome and friendly smile after a long 5 hour drive from the reception. Rooms were clean with no maintenance issues ro tired decor, everything was spotless (grouting, tiles etc) and having decent pillows and a fluffy duvet made for a very relaxed evening. Room had everything (ironing board, iron, hairdryer, even a fan!) and a connected TV. We had dinner in the hotel which good, service was good, literally nothing to complain about at all. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold dishes made to order, or a breakfast buffet (pancakes, crumpets, toast, cereals, juices, yogurts) Couldn't fault anything about our stay whatsoever. Would definitely recommend. Can't recall a better 3* I've stayed in the UK if I'm honest.

Time to be served or addressed at breakfast could have been better, minor grumble waiting 10 mins for a server to take a tea/coffee order and give menus.

The receptionist was very welcoming and friendly. Happy to help and showed an interest. The room was clean and although hot when we stayed, there was a fan supplied which was a nice touch as no air conditioning. Lovely shower! All staff in the hotel were friendly and very polite. Great location and easy to find. We stayed for the download festival which was about 15 minutes away. A request for a late checkout was accomodated which was great as we arrived back at the hotel late. The evening team in the restaurant were very friendly and the food was great.

Missed brunch on both mornings once because the times were incorrect online and we wasn't made aware of this. The second time because the gas was down. These things happen but the staff member did seem rather happy to tell us we couldn't eat for the second morning whilst they were tucking into their food. Not professional. Would stay again but would research somewhere local to eat in the mornings in case.

The hotel is lovely and in a great location. I had a lovely soak in the full-length bath. Our room was clean and comfortable. The evening meal was cooked lovely and homemade. Good selection of drinks at the bar, and a friendly service. The check-in lady was very friendly and welcoming, and booked us a table for our evening meal.

The breakfast service was not so well organised. Nobody around to greet us. We weren't sure if we sat anywhere or had to be seated. Cups and saucer are on the table, but you have to wait for staff to get you a pot of tea or coffee. My partner got one coffee but wasn't offered a top-up, and the staff seemed too busy to ask and not welcoming. Had to wait a while to order a cooked breakfast, but i did enjoy it. A lot of noise and swearing were heard from the kitchen. My partner had the continental breakfast. He couldn't eat the croissants as they were still cold from defrosting and soggy on the bottom. He was happy with toast and marmite. Unfortunately it wasn't a nice atmosphere.

staff very good ,Help full & polite. found any minor problems delt with promptly. Good welcome on arrival . room clean & tidy, Bathroom well serviced +clean towels.. ramps inside instead as well as stairs, good as wife has difficulty with stars!

Some indication of hotels direction on main road? Round abouts are tricky! would help if powers in charge agree? Cannot think of anything else other than we enjoyed our stay very much. please pass this on to your staff .

The Location was good, staff such as George were very kind and friendly, good car parking, the room was spacious and clean, the shower was warm and worked well. There was a good bar and a restaurant.

The breakfast waiting time was quite long on the first day we stayed, which I believe may have been due to staff shortages. The range of items in the continental breakfast was limited basic but adequate. The cooked breakfast was freshly cooked (which is fantastic), but it could have been a bit better- lack of brown bread on day 2 of our stay, some of the items were dried out or overcooked on day 1. However, these were relatively minor issues.

The room was very well presented and comfortable. The reception staff are excellent as are the cleaning ladies. We didn't have opportunity to meet other staff on this occasion. Unfortunately, we didn't have breakfast this time due to our early departure but we know from past experience that it is very good.

Very rowdy children in the courtyard beneath our window (who on earth is Barry?!!!!!) until very late evening, we had to be up for 6.45am!! We stay here regularly so will ensure we don't book that room(29) in future which is a pity as it is a very nice room.

Excellent meals, lovely, helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable room with bath and shower. etc. Very good parking and surroundings. Not far from the National Space Museum, which makes a brilliant outing! We walked out in the evenings and we found signed routes going past beautiful areas full of bluebells! They had stiles on the route but not too difficult to climb over. Good value for money. Large tv with good reception. Basic room but we didn't need anything else. Breakfast, lots of choices . Very good meals for dinner, but not a wide range for non-meat eaters! I ordered the same meal because it was a delicious with goats cheese etc!

Disappointed with items for tea etc. Only 4 little milk sachets daily, but staff were brilliant in providing a little jug with milk! A couple of biscuits would have been nice! It has a combined restaurant plus bar, with another room for breakfast, but in the evenings it could become very noisy which is why we went for a walk. The bed was a double but comfortable, and we had nice pillows. The bin wasn't emptied on first day, but there wasn't much in it I suppose. There was a path outside our window and I could hear voices at night but it wasn't too noisy.

staff very friendly and welcoming bedrooms nice but could do with a armchair to relax.

We had a long wait for dinner and also breakfast! The dinner was ok but a very long wait which we were prepared to accept due to one chef! But really not acceptable. Breakfast was another level! I asked for hot water with lemon easy but not able to assist! No yoghurts and a limited breakfast. My husband ordered a English no egg and low and behold a egg on plate. My omelette overcooked and very greasy. I also had to ask for toast and surprised it is not standard ? The hotel was lovely but meals very hit and miss due to low staff! Another chef needed to keep up with demand to cope with guest level needed. such a shame a great location and lovely hotel. Pm check your hedges for thrown into bushes glasses and bottles .

Our room was very clean, comfortable and spacious, We had Dinner in the restaurant which was nicely furnished and welcoming. Lots of choice at breakfast. I had a Lovely soak in the bath, lots of hot water, The manager was nice and Welcoming.

Despite having two side lights and a lamp, the room was still quite dark. The ceiling light could do with being relocated to the middle of the room. I got the impression that a couple of waitresses who served us our evening meal didn't really want to be there. This put a bit of a dampener on our much needed Respite break from caring.
