Hotel du Vin Cannizaro House Wimbledon

I liked the location, lovely building, friendly and helpful staff.

We came lately to escape the heatwave (I suffer, as under strong medication), but we were unable to reduce the heat sufficiently because of its place in the building. The food was unexceptional, especially on Sunday night, as many food items began to run out.

Unfortunately they allow dogs. There was a dog barking in a room and we had to ring to report it as it was after 9 at night. It continued barking most of the night disrupting our sleep. I don’t expect this from any hotel

Impressive looking building, Great location, lovely orangery serving very good breakfast. nice ambience. staff very welcoming, professional and helpful. beds comfy. nice towels.

The (standard) bedroom was cold and the air con heater didn’t do much to heat it up. lighting in the room a bit too dim for my liking. Bath didn’t drain very quickly and shower screen seal required a good clean. no USB ports for charging phone. sound insulation between rooms and floors not great (it is an old building) and woken by dogs barking at 7am as owners walked them on the Common outside bedroom window - maybe a (non-standard) room at the front of the house would have been quieter?

Room was lovely, I requested room overlooking the park. I would like to try a bigger room next time. Lighting not ideal for business travellers. Location was good - not too far from St Heliers Hospital where I had my meetings. Had to request extra desk light to enable me to work in the evenings. Breakfast was lovely although the breakfast I requested on my last day of stay was not available due to delivery coming in later. I was a bit dissapointed but staff were more than happy to provide alternative breakfast which I enjoyed.

Better lighting to enable me to work in the evenings. A bit noisy along the corridors - I think there might have been an event, but made allowances for that. It did not spoil my stay as all the members of staff were very polite, accommodating, professional and friendly and made my stay enjoyable.

From the moment we stepped through the doors & the reception staff wished my husband a happy 60th birthday & told us they had kindly upgraded us, we were blown away. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was superb. Cool & a beautiful view of the walled garden. The food was delicious. Service was always met with smiles throughout the day. Loved sitting out on the Orangery terrace overlooking Cannizaro Park. Location was perfect!

There was nothing we didn't like but one teeny tiny struggle was the step into the bath which was high to shower. A little precarious but they did have a non slip mat & a bar to grab.

The rooms are tidy, pleasant and beautiful. The surroundings are absolutely stunning- picturesque scenery and greenery with The Italian Gardens, Richmond park nearby etc. The energie in the hotel is very nice, and the staff are friendly. Breakfast was really nice!

For some weird reason the hotel management decided to execute maintenance work in the hotel during the morning (and before our check out time). We have woken up to a very unpleasant hard banging that sounded like literally coming from our ajacent room. We called reception and they did attend the issue having the works stop, but said it will have to resume at 10am. We went down to the lobby to discuss this further at reception, and they allow us to extend our check out time in an hour (12 instead of 11). Waking up around 9:00 to an awfull noise by the hotel's maintance crew was really a shame, but at least they addressed the issue and offer a light compensation.

Overall pleasant stay, was only there for 1 night so a comfortable bed and clean room were the main concerns - Spacious room - Nice location on the park, pleasant view from room and at breakfast - Staff I encountered were friendly - Bed was comfy - Appreciated the robe and slippers supplied

Nothing really wrong with the they stay, just a few little improvements - The shower/ bath set up I found unusual. No ledge at all around bath for products to be placed so had to fashion a table. It's also a high step in so something to be aware of if you have issues. The raised plug is right underneath the shower so you need to be aware not to trip on it. - Heated rail didn't seem to work (though it rarely does in hotels I've found) - Due to nature of the building, noise does travel - Sauces at breakfast would have been nice

The room was very pleasant and had a bird's eye view of the grounds of Cannizaro Park. That was a bonus as the weather was lovely and lots of people with dogs out in the sunshine. The location is ideal for a walk round the Park or the Common and easy access to the Village. I sat in the Rose Garden watching very industrious bees at work - very relaxing place.

Mostly fine on the terrace for a glass of wine or whatever, but being on my own on a day with corporate events, I was almost invisible and had to keep reminding staff of my presence. The corporate people were only there for the day and having a final beer before going home - I, on the other hand, was paying a lot of money to stay and was having a meal and drink!

Location, parking, staff, breakfast and restaurant

We had a classic room which was rather small and disappointing considering how much it was (over £200 a night). We also had a very noisy unresponsive air conditioning unit which was very hot and woke us up. Not the staff's fault but a noisy guest went out on the terrace below our window on speaker phone.at 4am for an hour. Seemed unaware of how much the sound carried. The second night the air conditioner was cooler but still very loud. After suffering for too long we ended up visiting reception at 5am who gave us a functioning remote control to turn off the air con unit. We were upgraded to a deluxe room for the third night which was very nice indeed. .

The location overlooking Cannizzaro Park is gorgeous . We took our dog with us so it was a bonus to have beautiful walks on our doorstep . It’s a 15 minute walk to Wimbledon Village from the hotel . The staff were generally helpful and breakfast really good .

Be aware that the ‘dog package ‘ is £30 per night !!! If a wedding is taking place then an early night is not an option because of the music . We weren’t told that breakfast times vary , so husband was not happy to lose his cooked breakfast on day 2 of our stay .
